H3C WA2600i Series 802.11n Indoor WLAN Access Points H3C WA2600i Series 802.11n Indoor WLAN Access Points Overview H3C WA2600i series access points (APs), the latest generation of GE APs compatible with 802.11n, provides a wireless access rate that is six times more than the rate of the traditional 802.11a/b/g network and covers a wider scope. The upstream interfaces access services are provided through GE interfaces that break the limitations of FE interfaces, thereby making the wireless multimedia application more practical. WA2600i series AP is compact, aesthetically pleasing, and can either be installed on the desktop, mounted on walls or ceilings, or flexibly deployed together with 11n specific external antennae to meet the specific requirements of the site. Features Smart access and optimum WLAN TCO WA2600i series complies to 802.11n standard, features a professional modular design and achieves a trasfer rate of up to 300Mbps with a single RF, which is approximately six times their 802.11a/b/g counterparts under the same conditions. Through the intelligent RF coverage technology with hardware sensors, it can increase the scope of coverage, improve access density and operation stability, provide a better mobile cloud access and achieve better wireless network TCO. Green design with low carbon footprint WA2600i series is designed with green issues in mind while supporting dynamic MIMO power saving (DMPS), enhanced automatic power save delivery (E-APSD), smart identification of real terminal network requirements. It can dynamically adjust the MIMO working mode and efficiently put terminals to sleep from time to time. WA2600i series Green AP mode supports single radio standby and allows for more precise control in power saving. WA2600i series sports the innovative per-packet power control technology, which reduces standby power consumption and improves the battery lives of mobile devices without losing packet. Gigabit Ethernet connection GE ports remove any bottleneck that limits the upstream speed in wireless products with Fast Ethernet ports, and provide a smooth upgrade path that allows for faster transmission and diversified RF deployment. Dual Fat/Fit mode The WA2600i series supports Fat and Fit modes. You can flexibly switch between the two modes according to your network planning, and specify its shipping mode (Fat mode or Fit mode). Users can start small, acquire the ideal network equipment and set it to Fat mode. As the user grows and tens and hundreds of network devices are installed, the user is recommended to add more H3C WX access controllers to simplify network management and centrally manage all the WA2600i series APs. All that s required is to flip the APs to Fit mode. Switching working mode is easy and can be conducted in batch with the help of network management equipment. This protects the customer investment, realizes a smooth network scale up and is particularly suited to operators to perform a seamless, large scale wireless network capacity upgrade. Local forwarding When WA2600i series APs are running in Fit mode and are forwarding packets through a wide area network WAN, they are usually deployed as data access devices in branch offices, while ACs are deployed in headquarter. All user data is sent from APs to AC, and centrally forwarded by the AC, WA2600i 1
unnecessarily consuming WAN link bandwidth. WA2600i series APs can convert wireless packets to wired packets so that data packets are not sent through AC but forwarded locally, which significantly saves the WAN link bandwidth. Dual IPv4/IPv6 protocol stacks (Native IPv6) WA2600i series is fully compliant with IPv6 and implements a dual IPv4/IPv6 protocol stacks. Existing IPv4 and IPv6 wired networks can run in parallel and work seamlessly to register WLAN with WX series ACs, so it will never run as an information silo. EAD wireless access End user Admission Domination (EAD) integrates network access and endpoint seucrity products, and helps ensure that only wireless clients who comply with mandated enterprise security policies can access the network, reducing threat levels by infected wireless clients and improving the overall security of the wireless network. When working with a security policy server, it can either remind users, isolate or boot them off the network when their systems are infected or not patched properly. RF Optimizing Engine (ROE) WA2600i series supports RF Optimizing Engine (ROE) for AP, which effectively increases the number of concurrent sessions in middle to high-density access, accomplishes streaming media application acceleration and QoS through character and protocol based RF optimization. Features include multi-user fairness, mixed access fairness, interference filtering, speed optimization, per-packet power control and intelligent bandwidth guarantee. 802.11b/g devices. Chinese SSID support WA2600i series AP supports Chinese SSID. Users can assign a Chinese name with a maximum of 32 Chinese characters, or a name with mixed Chinese and English characters, a plus for both Chinese and international users. Unified management of wired and wireless networks H3C Intelligent Management Center (imc) Wireless Service Manager (WSM) provides unified management of wired and wireless networks, adding network management functions into existing wired network management systems. All WSM based wireless products can be managed through the open management protocol. WSM is SOA compliant, modular based, fully expandable and evolving with the growing needs of newtork management. It offers a web-based management system, and a simple and user friendly management platform for wireless network administrators. It also implements panel management wireless management, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, software version control, deployment config management and user access management. Intelligent AP load balancing WA2600i series comes with intelligent load balancing, which spreads the workload according to number of concurrent users and traffic. If a new incoming user breaks the preset loading limit, AP will check the location of the wireless client in real time, determine if nearby APs with smaller workload can provide access, and deny his or her access only when such AP exists. What sets H3C intelligent load balancing apart from existing load balancing schemes is that it kicks in only if the user is located in an area with overlapping AP coverage, and prevents loss of access when workload limit is reached but no backup AP exists. This maximizes wireless network capacity while preventing any erratic behavior in load balancing. 11n only access Although 802.11n AP is backward compatible with 802.11a/b/ g clients which enables them to associate with 802.11n AP and share it with 802.11n users, it will create a performance impact to 802.11n clients. H3C WA2600i series 802.11n AP allows you to set a particular RF of an AP to 11n only mode, such that only 802.11n users get the bandwidth. For access devices with dual band capabilities, it is recommended to use only the 5GHz band for 11n users for maximum bandwidth and performance; for devices running in 2.4GHz band, set the AP to 2.4GHz compatible mode to maintain smooth operation with WA2600i 2
