IP-guard v3.2 Migration Guideline P. 2 INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to provide detailed guideline for IP-guard server migration. The organization of this document is as followings: In Section 1, the backup procedures of IP-guard Database and Server are presented. In Section 2, how to migrate the backup Database and IP-guard Server data to new computer machine is presented. Notices that we based on the following environments to make this guideline 1) Windows Server 2003 2) SQL Server 2005 3) SQL Server Management Studio Express
IP-guard v3.2 Migration Guideline P. 3 Section 1 Backup IP-guard Database & Server In this section, the backup procedures for IP-guard Database and Server are presented. The best practices for IP-guard Database and Server management are: full backup for IP-guard Database which should be done in MS SQL Server Management Studio (Section 1.1); and backup IP-guard Server log data which stored in \DATA of the IP-guard installation folder (Default data location: C:\Program Files\TEC\IPguard3\DATA\) (Section 1.2). The detailed procedures are as followings: Section 1.1 Backup IP-guard Main Database 1. Right click IP-guard Service Manager to stop the server (Figure 1.1) Figure 1.1 Stop IP-guard Server 2. Open SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the database (Figure 1.2)
