Installation TEMATH is distributed as a self-extracting file containing the TEMATH 2.1 folder. Double-click the self-extracting file s icon and save the TEMATH 2.1 folder to your hard drive. Within the TEMATH 2.1 folder are the following nine files/folders: - 1 -
1. TEMATH 2.1 the TEMATH application file. 2. TEMATH Help the TEMATH help file. 3. ReadMe - Basic documentation (this document in SimpleText format). 4. ReadMe.pdf - Basic documentation (this document in PDF format). 5. TEMATH_2.1_What's_New.pdf a PDF file containing a list of all the new features within the 2.1 upgrade of the TEMATH program. 6. TEMATH_2.1_Features.pdf a PDF file containing a list of all the features within the TEMATH program. 7. Using_TEMATH_in_Calculus.pdf a PDF file containing a brief tutorial on how to use many of TEMATH s tools to solve problems in calculus. 8. IFS Matrices this folder contains a selection of matrices that can be imported into TEMATH and used to generate IFS fractal images. 9. TEMATH_2.0.8_What's_New.pdf a PDF file containing a list of all the features within the 2.0.8 upgrade of the TEMATH program. After you have extracted the TEMATH folder, double-click the TEMATH 2.1 application. This will start the TEMATH program and also generate the TEMATH Standard file. This file contains information about your monitor s resolution and size. TEMATH s windows will be fitted to your monitor s screen using the information in the Standard file. - 2 -
- If you do not like the default window sizes and positions (or font characteristics), you can always change them to what you want by using TEMATH s Set Standard Tile Preferences (or Set Standard Font Preferences) command found in the Windows menu. See TEMATH Help for details. When you copy TEMATH to another computer with a different monitor (resolution or size), it is best to not copy the Standard file, but to generate a new one on this computer. If you are installing TEMATH on a partition or in a folder that will be locked, it is best to create and modify the a Standard file while the partition or folder is unlocked. You can do this by running TEMATH once and then making any desired changes to the tile (or font preferences) as described above. Once TEMATH's partition or folder is locked, the user will not be able to make further changes to the Standard file. This new version of TEMATH will run without a Standard file present. In this case, TEMATH will use its internal preset preferences for window size, placement and font characteristics based on the computer monitor's current resolution. Getting Started and Documentation To get started, work through the Using_TEMATH_in_Calculus.pdf tutorial. The TEMATH help system contains a brief tutorial as well as documentation for all its features. To use the help system, - Select Help from the Windows menu to open the TEMATH Help window. - 3 -
- Double-click on a topic of interest (if you wish, click a disclosure triangle on the left edge to display sub-topics). - Use the Next and Previous buttons to move among the topics sequentially. - Use the Topic button to return to the topics list. - Use the Index button to display an index of the Help system.
