NZQF NQ Ref 1645 Version 2 Page 3 of 6 National Certificate in Seafood Processing (Storage) Level 2 Credits 40 Purpose This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required by people who have the responsibility of storing goods in a seafood storage facility. The qualification consists of a compulsory section, an elective section, and a balance section. The compulsory section covers skills and knowledge that relate to inventory control, storage, and good operating practices in seafood goods storage facilities. This is a specific role in the seafood workplace and provides a firm foundation for employment. The elective section allows the candidate to choose standards from the Seafood Generic, Seafood Processing, Driver Licence Endorsements, Powered Industrial Lift Trucks, and First Aid domains to complement their job role. The balance section allows candidates added flexibility to enable them to choose standards from anywhere on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) that may be relevant to their job role. People who complete this qualification may continue on to the National Certificate in Seafood Processing with strands in Basic Processing Skills, and Intermediate Processing Skills [Ref: 1621] or the National Certificate in Seafood Risk Management (Processing Quality) (Level 3) [Ref: 1647].
