Touch Dynamic Quest II 7 - Tablet Staging Setup Overview This page was written to assist with setting up and staging of tablets. Touch Dynamic Quest II 7 - Initializing and Turning on the Tablet 1. When you first unbox the Quest II 7 tablet, it will be off. This tablet comes preloaded with Windo ws 10. 2. To begin, turn on the device by hitting the power button on the left side of the tablet. 3. You will be prompted with Windows 10 account setup instructions. Begin by selecting the appropriate time zone for the install site, as well as regional settings (primarily either US or Canada). a. For keyboard, stick to using English (Canada) - US Keyboard. This setting can be easily changed later on if needed. 4. Configure your Wi-Fi connection. 5. On the "Get going fast" screen, select Customize - do not "Use Express Settings". 6. Disable all settings involving sending data to Microsoft. Essentially, turn OFF all settings. <screens> 7. Set up the username and password. Enter in: a. Who's going to use this PC? (User) = Volante b. Make it secure (Password) = volante c. Password hint = <one blank space> 8. Hit Next and start up Windows 10. Install remote desktop software to speed up the staging process. 1. Open Internet Explorer. Users may also use Google Chrome if desired, but this will require an additional download. 2. On Google, search for "Teamviewer 11 previous". The ideal result should be the following page: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/previous-versions/ The reason for searching for this link is because the page is not readily accessible on their website. 3. Download the last version of Teamviewer 11 for Windows (as 11 is the version of TV that we currently have licensed). 4. 5. http://download.teamviewer.com/download/version_11x/teamviewer_setup.exe Begin installation for Teamviewer 11. Enable the following settings for Teamviewer: a. Installation to access the computer remotely (unattended). This can be done again later in Teamviewer, by going to Connection > S b. etup Unattended Access Company/Commercial use (The "Show advanced settings" checkbox only adds an extra step for selecting Teamviewer's directory. It may be ignored.) 6. 7. Next, set up unattended access settings. a. Set the Computer's name - Leave as default settings. This name will autopopulate when the computer's name is automatically changed. b. Set the password as "volante" Add this computer to Computers & Contacts a. Do not set up a new account. i. In this scenario, you must add this Tablet to the list of available contacts for Volante Support. Checking Computer Information Checking IP and MAC Address Information Checking IP and MAC Address Information Users can check this info by going into the command prompt. This information will be required for setting up the Volante BackOffice later. 1. 2. 3. Open Command Prompt or CMD; users search for it in Windows. Type in ipconfig /all Check the following information: a. b. Physical Address - This will be the MAC Address. IPv4 Address - Your IP.
Change the Computer Name Change the Computer Name Users can do this one of two ways: 1. Navigate to My Computer > System > About, and select "Rename PC"
2. Navigate to My Computer > System > System Properties > Computer Name, and select "Change". Name each tablet sequentially, using the following convention: EvrazTab-# Write this name on the box in order to keep track of it. This is important as we need to keep track of it Volante User (Only needed if there were existing users) Creating Volante User Creating Volante User This step is only applicable if there was a previous user on this tablet that was not a Volante administrator account. If the newly created Volante admin account is the only account, this step can be skipped. To create a new Admin account, and delete any existing accounts, perform the following actions: 1. Open Control Panel > User Accounts.
2. Next, select Change account type. In the Manage Accounts screen, select "Add a new user in PC settings". 3. Select "Add someone else to this PC". 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Select "I don't have this person's sign in information" Select "Add User without a Microsoft Account" Username = Volante; leave everything else blank, and click Next followed by Finish. Then select the Volante user account, and select "Change the account type". Change the account type from Standard User to Administrator. 9. 10. Restart the machine. Log in as Volante. 11. Return User Accounts again.
12. This time select the account that is NOT Volante. Select "Delete the account". Follow additional prompts until the account is deleted. Installing and Uninstalling Removing Unneeded Software Uninstall and Remove Unneeded Software 1. 2. Right-click on any Icons (i.e. "This PC") and press delete. Right-click on each of the icons and Unpin from the start menu. 3. Remove the Recycle Bin from view as well. This can be done by doing the following. a. b. c. Select the Start button, then select Settings. Select Personalization > Themes > Desktop icon settings. Uncheck the Recycle Bin check box > Apply.
4. Unpin any Start Menu tiles if needed. 5. Finally, remove the C:\install\Compass Only folder and the C:\install\Site Files folder Installing Helpful 3rd Party Software Installing Other Helpful 3rd-Party Software This step is based on preference. The following software can be deemed useful for installation; Volante itself will install applications with "Installed" in front of them. 1. Installed - TightVNC (c:\install\commonsupporttools\tightvnc-2.6.4-setup32bit.msi) or Teamviewer 2. Installing Volante Installing Volante In this step we will go through the basics of installing the Volante Software. 1. Ensure the computer name is correct. 2. 3. 4. If you can set a static IP address at this time, do so. Ensure Volante setup is opened as Administrator to avoid some extra prompts for install. Follow these steps during install: Installation and setup for Volante V7 a. b. c. d. Right-click the setup and Run as Administrator. This is to avoid many prompts during the setup process. Choose Volanté POS Workstation and Epson JPOS for the first two choices, and default for the third. Do not reboot yet - run available upgrade patches. Follow the instructions that show up during this process; be sure to change the ODBC Settings for the terminal e. Install.net Framework and SAP when prompted. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Reboot the computer. Remove the "Java Web Start" from the desktop Shortcuts for VolantePOS should already be created for you on the desktop. Place a shortcut for Teamviewer 11 on your desktop as well. Pin the Shortcut for Volante into the Windows Start Menu. Enlarge the icons on the Desktop. Hold CTRL and scroll up on the mouse with the icon selected. Open " Show or hide common icons on the desktop". In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog box, perform one of the following actions: Hide the Recycle Bin by clearing the "Recycle Bin" check box. Repeat for the Computer Icon. Show the Recycle Bin by selecting the "Recycle Bin" check box. Click OK.
Auto Login to Windows Setting Windows 10 to Logon Automatically Press the Windows + R keyboard combination to bring up a run box, when it appears type netplwiz and hit enter. This will open the User Accounts dialog box, which will display a list of all the users on your computer. Select your user account from the list, then uncheck the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer checkbox then click the apply button.
This will bring up the " Automatically sign in" dialog, where you will need to input your password.

Put the computer to sleep 4 minutes Never Turning off System Icons Turning off System Icons 1. Search for Taskbar in the Windows search, and select Taskbar Settings. a. Ensure Taskbar is locked. 2. Scroll down to Notification Area. Open " Select which icons appear on the taskbar".
3. In here, only leave on Power and Network icons (disable Volume).
4. In " Turn system Icons On or Off", turn off Clock, Volume, Input Indicator. The Windows 7 window is on the left; Windows 10 on the right. Action Center Action Center - Disable Specific Quick Actions (Windows 10 Touch Dynamic only) Most Quick Action tiles in the Action Center need to be disabled. Leave the following options only: Network Wi-Fi Bluetooth Brightness
Disable Notifications from apps and other senders Under Settings > Notifications & actions, disable all notifications (turn off the top option). Afterwards, clear all existing notifications that were present in the Action Center.
Action Center - Enable Rotation Lock Action Center - Enable Rotation Lock Ensure the tablet screen does not automatically rotate. Under the Action Center pane in the bottom right, select Rotation Lock. Disable Windows Firewall Disable Firewalls Disable all firewalls. Go to Windows Firewall > Turn off Windows Firewall.
Disable Search Disable Search, Touch Keyboard, Task View Disable readily accessible search functionality on the tablet by following these steps: 1. Right-click the task bar to bring up a menu. 2. 3. Open "Search" options (or Cortana in newer versions of Windows 10, if applicable). By default it will state "Show search icon". Disable this option and select "Hidden". 4. Next, ensure "Show touch keyboard button" is not checked off. This will remove the touch keyboard icon in the taskbar. 5. Lastly, disable Task View, also from this menu list.
