A mobile configuration file has been created to assist users with their wireless settings. Users will need the following to utilize the configuration file: Users will need to know their NEIUport username and password. Access to the internet in order to download the mobile configuration file. An ios device running ios 4.x or higher. The passcode to the device (if applicable). This configuration file is intended solely for ios devices running ios 4.x or higher. Users who are using a different mobile device cannot use this configuration file. Instructions for Macintosh and Windows systems are available. Step 1. Download the Mobile Configuration File You will need internet access in order to download the mobile configuration file. If you are on campus, you can connect to the Unsecured NEIU Open Access wi-fi network. This network does not require you to enter your NEIUport credentials. However, data sent on the Open Access network will not be encrypted. 1. Using the Safari web browser on your ios device, go to: http://www.neiu.edu/~alam/apple_users/ios_wifi.html 2. Locate and tap on the ios wi-fi configuration file link. Step 2. Installing the Mobile Configuration File 1. After the configuration file has been downloaded, you will be prompted to install the file. Tap on the Install button to continue. 2. A dialog box will appear and ask you to confirm the installation. Click on the Install Now button. 3. If your device has a security passcode, you will need to enter it in order to complete the installation. Step 3. Entering your NEIUport Credentials After you install the configuration file, your ios device will prompt you to enter your NEIUport username and password. 1. Enter your NEIUport username and tap Next. 2. Next, enter your NEIUport password and tap Next. 3. The configuration file should now be properly installed. Tap Done to complete the setup. Step 4. Connecting to the Secured Wi-Fi Network To turn on wi-fi or to change wi-fi networks, tap on the Settings icon and then tap on Wi-Fi. In the Wi-Fi settings, you can turn Wi-Fi on or off and select the wi-fi you network you wish to use. You are now connected to the Secured_WPA2 wi-fi network. Frequently Asked Questions My ios device automatically chooses the Unsecured NEIU Open Access network and I have to manually switch it to Secured_WPA2 each time. How do I set it so it chooses Secured_WPA2 automatically? 1. Go to: Settings --> Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, turn it on. You ll see a listing of the available networks nearby. 2. Tap on the blue-white arrow symbol to the right of the Unsecured NEIU Open Access listing. 3. Tap Forget this Network. Your ios device will not use this network until you choose it. I no longer wish to use this these settings. How do I remove the configuration file?
