Introduction to 1 1.1 Basic information on working with Introduction In version V14 or higher of TIA Portal, you have the option of working with TIA Portal Teamcenter Gateway. This has the advantage that you can save and manage your TIA Portal projects and global libraries in Teamcenter. Advantages provides the following advantages: You can save TIA Portal projects and global libraries in Teamcenter. You can assign an item type to a TIA Portal project and to a global library. You can revise/version TIA Portal projects and global libraries that are saved in Teamcenter. You can open TIA Portal projects and global libraries saved in Teamcenter for further editing in TIA Portal. Teamcenter references between a TIA Portal project and all global libraries that are used in this project are created automatically. Programming and Operating Manual, 04/2017, A5E37747068-AB 5

Introduction to 1.2 Application possibilities of 1.2 Application possibilities of Application possibilities of You can do the following with : Save TIA Portal projects or global libraries as a new item in Teamcenter. Assign an item type or derived types to TIA Portal projects or global libraries that you want to save as new item in the Teamcenter. Save changes to a TIA Portal project or a global library in Teamcenter. Save TIA Portal projects or global libraries as new revision in Teamcenter. Assign an item type or derived types to TIA Portal projects or global libraries that you want to save as new revision in the Teamcenter. Check out TIA Portal projects or global libraries. Undo checkout of a TIA Portal project or global library. Check in TIA Portal projects or global libraries. Open TIA Portal projects or global libraries saved in Teamcenter for editing in TIA Portal. When you open TIA Portal projects from the Teamcenter, the global libraries that are used in these TIA Portal projects and saved in Teamcenter are opened as well. You can establish a connection between a TIA Portal project and a global library. When you open the TIA Portal project from Teamcenter, the associated global library is also opened in the TIA Portal. 6 Programming and Operating Manual, 04/2017, A5E37747068-AB

System requirements 2 2.1 System requirements for Software requirements You have administrator privileges on your computer. You have installed STEP 7 Professional V14 and/or WinCC Professional V14 on your PG/ PC. You have installed Teamcenter Rich Application Client (referred to as RAC below) or Teamcenter Client Communication System (TCCS) version 11.2 on your PG/PC. Note If TCCS was installed as "standalone", you must also install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable". This ensures that you can establish a connection between TIA Portal and. You have made sure that a connection of FCC/FMS (FileClientCache/ FileManagementSystem) to the "Teamcenter Server 11.2" exists. Note After a reinstallation or a restart, also check that a connection is available from FCC/FMS (FileClientCache/FileManagementSystem) to the"teamcenter Server 11.2". You have installed on the Teamcenter server the Teamcenter data model included in the scope of delivery of. You can find a detailed description for installation of the Teamcenter data model in the installation manual " - Installing a data model". You have imported into the Teamcenter the " T4Tia_Item.xml", " T4Tia_ItemRevision.xml" and " T4Tia_ItemWithRevision.xml" and T4Tia_RevisionOrderbyCreatedDateTime.xml queries included in the scope of delivery of. For a detailed description of importing queries from the Teamcenter, refer to the installation manual " - Installing a data model" in the section "Importing search queries in Teamcenter". Licenses for To work with, you need a valid license key on every device on which you install. You can either include the license key in the installation or transfer it using the Automation License Manager after the installation. When you work with the TIA Portal in combination with, the presence of the valid license key is checked. Programming and Operating Manual, 04/2017, A5E37747068-AB 7

System requirements 2.1 System requirements for Configuring Teamcenter cache path You have the option of setting the required "Teamcenter cache path" in the settings for the TIA Portal. 1. To do so, select under "Options" > "Settings" > "Teamcenter Gateway" > Teamcenter Cache Path" in the TIA Portal. 2. In the "Teamcenter" area, click the settings for " cache path" on the "Browse" button. 3. Select the required path or apply the recommended path. Note Scenarios in which two TIA Portal instances are using the same Teamcenter cache path are not supported. 8 Programming and Operating Manual, 04/2017, A5E37747068-AB

Basics of working with TIA Portal Teamcenter Gateway 3 Introduction You can do the following with add-on package: Establish a connection between TIA Portal and Teamcenter. Perform operations in TIA Portal specific to Teamcenter. The installation of add-on package adds the "Open Teamcenter project..." submenu to the "Project" menu in the project view. Furthermore, the "Teamcenter" submenu is added to the "Tools" menu in the main menu of TIA Portal. The add-on package together with TIA Portal offers the following advantages: Saving TIA Portal projects or global libraries in Teamcenter When saving TIA Portal projects or global libraries in Teamcenter you can assign them item types or derived types. You can save changes to TIA Portal projects or global libraries connected to Teamcenter. Revising TIA Portal projects or global libraries connected to Teamcenter. Global libraries or TIA Portal projects that are saved in Teamcenter can be opened in "Read only" or "Write" mode. Programming and Operating Manual, 04/2017, A5E37747068-AB 9

Difference between TIA Portal projects and global libraries 6 Introduction TIA Portal projects and global libraries are identified by the name of the dataset and the file extension in Teamcenter. Name of the dataset Note that: When saving a TIA Portal project with the Teamcenter operation "Save as new item" and "Save as new revision" in Teamcenter, the name of the TIA Portal project is used as dataset name (e.g. "TIAProjectDataset"). When saving a global library with the Teamcenter operation "Save as new item" and "Save as new revision" in Teamcenter, the name of the global library is used as dataset name (e.g. "T4TIALibraryDataset"). File extensions Note that: When saving a TIA Portal project with the Teamcenter operation "Save as new item" and "Save as new revision", the TIA Portal project is saved with the file extension *.zap* in Teamcenter. When saving a global library with the Teamcenter operation "Save as new item" and "Save as new revision", the global library is saved with the file extension *.zal* in Teamcenter. 6.1 Copying different dataset types to a new revision TIA Portal projects and global libraries with the Teamcenter operation "Save as new revision..." in Teamcenter You use the Teamcenter operation "Save as new revision..." in Teamcenter to specify during saving which attached datasets (non-tia datasets) are transferred from the old revision to the new one. This behavior depends on the copy rules "Deep copy rules". Additional information on the copy rules "Deep copy rules" is available in the "Teamcenter 11 Business Modeler IDE" operating manual in the section "Deep copy rules".
