Anticipatory Set LESSON LEAD-IN DISCUSSION Spend a few moments reviewing the concepts from the last lesson and ask for questions from the assigned work. Following are review questions: How do you change a chart s source data range? How do you add a title to a chart after the chart has been created? How do you format a chart element? Procedure Begin by explaining that the focus of this lesson is integrating the Internet with Excel. This is accomplished by saving a workbook as a Web page, inserting hyperlinks to other documents or Web. If you have access to a computer connected to a video display projector, demonstrate the following tasks. If time is constrained due to previous discussion, focus the demonstration on the tasks preceded by an asterisk: - Have on disk the data file ExcelC08Project01. - *Open Microsoft Excel and open ExcelC08Project01. - *Demonstrate saving the worksheet as a Web page as follows: o Click File/Save As Web Page. o Click the Change Title button, type Global Travel Destinations for 2010 in the Page title text box, and click OK. o Make sure the Save as type option is Single File Web Page (*.mht; *.mhtml). o Change the file name to GlobalDestinations. o Click the Publish button. Review the options in the Publish as Web Page dialog box and then click the Publish button. o After viewing the Web page in the Internet Explorer window (see below), close the browser to return to the worksheet.

- *Open GlobalDestinations.mht in Excel. - *Click G9 and create a hyperlink to www.nwa.com (Insert/Hyperlink). - *Display the workbook in Web Page Preview (File/Web Page Preview) and click the hyperlink to display the Northwest Airlines Web page. - *Close the Web browser to return to the worksheet in Excel. - Click on cell A17. You want to add the Contact Ñina Perez for more information (Insert/Text/Symbol) to get the Ñ. - Move to Cell A19. Show how to enter the by typing the ( r ). - *Close the workbook without saving. - Begin this lesson with a discussion of enhancing worksheets through the use of artwork such as clip art or photographs. Many students with prior computer experience will be familiar with clip art. Ask students to share with the class the source of the clip art they have used in the past. Mention that many people download images from the Internet. Use this comment to lead into a discussion about copyright laws. Point out that it is not acceptable to use someone else s artwork without permission. Mention that many sites on the Internet offer free clip art. Students should be encouraged to check into these sites. Add the caution that students should investigate the terms of use link. Most free artwork allows an individual to use an image for personal use only, and in some cases, the artist requires that credit be given. An extensive collection of clip art images is available from Microsoft. Students should be able to find suitable images from the Microsoft collections to meet their needs for most worksheets. If you have access to a computer connected to a video display projector, demonstrate the following tasks. If time is constrained due to previous discussion, focus the demonstration on the tasks preceded by an asterisk: - Have on disk the data file ExcelC08Project03.

- *Open Microsoft Excel and open ExcelC08Project03. - *Make A1 the active cell and click Insert/Clip Art. - *Type money in the Search for text box and then insert an image similar to the one shown below. - *Resize the image and move it down as shown. - Point out that Excel might ask if you want to check Office Online and display clips from the Web. This may cause some wait time depending on the speed of the Internet connection. Also mention that by default media from all collections is searched. Use the example that students can select only clip art if they don t want photographs in the search results. - *Close the Clip Art task pane and deselect the clip art image. - *Display the different shapes that can be added to a spreadsheet (Insert/Shapes). - *Draw and format the shapes shown below as follows: o Draw the first arrow shown at the left using the right arrow from the block arrow AutoShape palette o Format the arrow to red line color; orange fill o Copy and paste the arrow two times as shown.

o o o Draw and overlap two rectangles as shown below. Use the Dark Red line color; 1½ point line style; gold fill. Right-click the top rectangle and select Add Text from the shortcut menu. Press type the text shown in 16-point Arial Bold, Red. - Mention that drawing capabilities are limited only by one s imagination. - Encourage students to use creativity and experiment with the various buttons and AutoShapes available on the Drawing toolbar in addition to the tools learned in the chapter exercises and assessments. - *Close ExcelWorskheet26 without saving. Begin this lesson with a discussion that sometimes clip art images or shapes do not meet the needs for a visual object in a worksheet. You may need to use a diagram or WordArt to add an interesting effect to text. If you have access to a computer connected to a video display projector, demonstrate the following tasks. If time is constrained due to previous discussion, focus the demonstration on the tasks preceded by an asterisk: - *Have on disk the data file ExcelC08Project05, ExcelC08Project06 and Olympics.jpg. - Open Microsoft Excel and open ExcelC08Project05. - Explain that in addition to the clipart you can add a picture to a spreadsheet and you are going to show how to include a picture as a watermark. - Select Insert/Header & Footer/Picture. - Navigate to the Olympics.jpg file and select it. - Click format picture and change the size to 6 inches high by 7.5 inches wide. - Show the students how the file is difficult to read so you must be careful about including a picture as a watermark.

- Close the file without saving. - *Open ExcelC08Project06. - *Briefly explain each of the seven SmartArt categories. Click different items and point out the description that displays at the right side of the dialog box. - *Create the Relationship diagram shown below. Change the color to Accent 3. - *Move and resize the diagram to the bottom of the worksheet as shown. - *Delete the text in Cell A1. - Create the WordArt object shown below using Insert/WordArt: o Use the last shape in the first row of the WordArt gallery. o Change the font size to 32. o Move and resize the object to A1:D1 as shown.

- Remind students again that drawing capabilities are limited only by one s imagination. - Encourage students to use creativity and experiment with the various SmartArt and WordArt options available in addition to the tools learned in the chapter exercises and assessments. - *Close ExcelC08Project06 without saving. WRAP-UP CLASS DISCUSSION TOPICS depending on time available, consider the following topic: Since this lesson completes the topics for the Excel Level 1, instruct students on the requirements for the Proficiency assessments. Nine assessments are included as well as three writing activities, an Internet project, and a job study project. Remind students the Proficiency assessments will help each student determine his or her readiness for the test. When difficulty with an assessment is encountered, encourage the review of the relevant topic within the textbook and suggest redoing the chapter exercises related to the topic(s) before reattempting the proficiency assessment.
