R&Mfoxs Connectivity that matters Get more Support Your Partner for tailor-made solutions Flexibility Modular product range Performance Reliable signal transmission Quality Uncompromising high precision manufacturing

Introduction R&Mfoxs: Modular - Flexible - Innovative R&Mfoxs is the professional solution for ultra broadband infrastructures and next generation networks. «This solution unifies all the factors that network operators must take into account for a successful FTTH future.» R&Mfoxs stands for: Fiber Optic Cross Connections System from Reichle & De-Massari AG. The system is based upon a modular design, and can therefore be custom-adapted to your needs, no matter what they are. Complete solutions for all networks All R&Mfoxs (fiber optic cross connection system) is based on a modular principle. The distributor and connection technologies have a modular design and are perfectly compatible with each other. That means they can be deployed flexibly in accordance with the needs of the given market and site. Partners also retain all options when selecting network architectures, expansion strategies and access models. Owing to their modular design, the systems are readily scalable and open to new technologies such as up-and-coming wavelength division multiplexing (WDM PON). In other words, partners invest only in what they really need. High availability and performance of the networks is assured by Swiss quality, the industry- leading R&M standards and advanced security and safety features. At R&M, each part is individually tested for all relevant parameters before leaving the factory. Efficient quick-assembly technology is one of the fundamental traits of R&M solutions. It eliminates the need for tools in many cases and shortens installation and service procedures by as much as 30%. Easy-to-install innovations from R&M simplify fiber and subscriber management and the handling of optical connection technology. Core components such as splice and patch units can be used multiple times. This feature noticeably reduces the expense and effort that go into learning about and installing the equipment, while greatly simplifying logistics. The all-round service begins with customer-specific adjustments and the provision of fully pre-terminated, factory-tested units. It extends to consulting services for network planning support and solution evaluation. With the training and certification of the technical personnel, R&M ensures the quality of the installation. Support services accompany the network operators over the entire life cycle of their FTTX installations. 3

Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) TCO reduction Excellent subscriber and cable management saves on maintenance costs Strainless fiber guidance ensures data security Scalable investments thanks to modular configuration Easy and time-saving installation Short fiber connections between splice and patch module No tools needed Easy drop arrangement Open fiber guidance Smart hinge down splice element Splitter-size independent acceptance High density up to 2304 fibers Bending radius R40 Subscriber management with SCM ETSI standard compliant Retrofittable side panels and door 090.6861_halb Into the Future with Fiber Optics 090.5640 Next generation networks are expanding. The demand for more bandwidth and new services calls for more and more optical fibers. Network operators need new ideas for central office, hub and data center applications in order to manage the expansion of fiber optic infrastructures more efficiently and more flexibly. R&M s answer: the Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) combined with the Single Circuit Management System (SCM). This distribution solution allows network operators to set up their next generation central office. It helps them master the planning, assembly and operation smoothly and reliably, thanks to the modular design and outstanding rapid-assembly technology. Now there is no limit to the expansion of fiber optic networks. 4

The ODF-MODULE can be installed from the front or backside of the cabinet. Outstanding is the modular system approach through the SCM cassettes and ODF Patch-, Splitter and CWDM inserts assortment. The flexible configured platform distributes optical fibers for P2P and P2MP networks. With the two ODF-MODULE sizes 5U and 10U, R&M offers a Fiber Distribution Module for up to 288(5U) / 576(10U) splice-and patch connections or up to 576(5U) /1152(10U) pure splice connections. 5

That is proven by the second generation of patch boxes from R&M. Now there is just one basic module for cable terminationin 19 racks. In the FibereasyRack 2 version, the platform offers everything needed for breakout cabling. In the UniRack 2 version, it is ideal for efficient splice cabling. UniRack 2 and FibereasyRack 2 are compelling solutions thanks to consistent simplification, efficient handling, rich functionality, a variety of possible uses and everpresent reliability. The new Rack generation are compatible with allcommon adapter solutions for E-2000 *, SC, LCD, ST and FC type adapters. *E-2000 is manufactured under a license from Diamond SA, Losone. 6

Raceway System Higher network availability Fast snap-in installation Seamless expansion and retrofitting Reductions of up to 60% in installation and maintenance costs 090.5388 All-round protection for optical fibers Guaranteed bending radius of 30mm Flexible, modular system Rely on smart cable raceways 090.5282 Operators of broadband networks and data centers prefer taking the fast, efficient route. That is also true of raceways in central installations and distribution sites. The installation and re-equipping of fiber optic raceway systems have to proceed as smoothly as possible to save time for productive tasks. You can now switch to the passing lane when it comes to cable raceways. With the Fiber Optic Raceway System from R&M, you take the lead in managing fiber optic links while adding benefits for your own operation. The R&M Raceway System has a smart design: safe, fast, efficient, free of stress, modular, customized and easy as can be to handle. 7

In this solution, the fiber polish is 8. The result: an LC connector for singlemode fibers and APC polish (SM APC) with top-class performance in the Grade Cf/1 range. At this performance level, insertion loss is typically 0.25dB and return loss over 60dB always referring to the connector and fiber junction together. As well a Multimode version is available with excellent performance RL >35 db and IL 0.25dB. The connectors can be used to assemble both tight and compact tubes of 0.6 to 0.9 mm diameter. A crimp-free strain relief was also developed specially for cables of up to 3.0 mm. Time is money, especially for installers who have limited installation time during the FTTH rollout. Here the advantage of R&Ms FO Field connector becomes handy. Due to its fast and easy assembly process, the installation time can be massively reduced. 16

Upgrading and installing optical high-performance networks is in full swing on an international scale. This means the importance of connectors as key components of the passive cabling infrastructure is also increasing. No matter what area, from WAN, metropolitan area and campus network applications up to backbone cabling and subscriber connections, the use of top-quality connectors ensures highest transmission rates, consistent network availability and saves energy to boot (Green Network). It is therefore indispensable that planners and installers have a sound knowledge of the quality grades for fiber optic connectors.. 17
