Overview Aras Innvatr has made a change in the way sme files will be viewed using the sftware. In versins prir t Aras Innvatr 8, there were previus Items listed in the Viewers Item type. Aras Innvatr Used t view 2D images like TIFF files Helper App Used t display custm help files These Items will n lnger be added t the Viewer Item Type with new installs. Hwever, we realize that sme custmers will still be using these features, and d nt want t prevent them frm ding s. S, we will leave the sftware used in these features available with install and have it as an available add-n. There are tw items that need t be addressed in this dcument t make this ptinal fr all custmers. Hw t disable these features fr existing databases. Hw t enable these features fr new databases. Page 6
1 Instructins This sectin will prvide the instructins fr disabling and enabling the viewers. 1.1 Disabling viewers in existing databases. The fllwing steps utline the prcedure fr remving database references t the viewers. 1.1.1 Step 1 Ntify Users Ntify all Aras Innvatr users that at a designated time yu (the Administratr) will be making a change t the database and everyne must lg ut. The change prcess described in the steps belw requires database mdificatin. S, the database will be temprarily discnnected frm Aras Innvatr. Any user, wh des nt lg ut f Aras Innvatr, will surely lse their wrk. 1.1.2 Step 2 Disable the Database cnnectin In this step we will discnnect the database, s that n changes culd be made t the table while this change is being perfrmed 1) Open the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file 2) Find the line fr the database yu wish t update. It shuld lk similar t: <DB-Cnnectin id= InnvatrSlutins database= InnvatrSlutins server="lcalhst" uid="innvatr" pwd="innvatr" dbtype="sql Server" /> 3) Change the line by adding an x in frnt f the DB-Cnnectin, like this: <xdb-cnnectin id= InnvatrSlutins database= InnvatrSlutins server="lcalhst" uid="innvatr" pwd="innvatr" dbtype="sql Server" /> 4) Save the file and clse 1.1.3 Step 3 Run SQL statement t disable Helper App viewer This step will disable the Helper App viewer, installed with previus Aras Innvatr databases. 1) Open Enterprise Manager 2) Find the Database fr the Innvatr t be updated. Please be certain that this is the same database that yu discnnected earlier frm the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file. 3) Highlight the database and select frm the main menu: Tls SQL Query Analyzer 4) Input the fllwing query: DELETE FROM innvatr.viewer WHERE ID = '53D5121E8FC1491193F7BF639A2B89BB' 5) Run the query. 1.1.4 Step 4 Run SQL statement t disable Aras Innvatr viewer This step will disable the Aras viewer, installed with previus Aras Innvatr databases. 6) Open Enterprise Manager Page 7
7) Find the Database fr the Innvatr t be updated. Please be certain that this is the same database that yu discnnected earlier frm the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file. 8) Find the table called ItemType 9) Highlight the table and select frm the main menu: Tls SQL Query Analyzer 10) Input the fllwing query: DELETE FROM innvatr.view_with WHERE ID = 'D90345DC7DDE4720A8CB7827F0830052' 11) Run the query. 12) Input the fllwing query: DELETE FROM innvatr.viewer WHERE ID = 'A3E0D1470B494576941AB86366BBB85C' 13) Run the query. 1.1.5 Step 6 Enable Database cnnectin 1) Open the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file 2) Find the line fr the database updated in Step 3 a. It shuld lk similar t: <xdb-cnnectin id= InnvatrSlutins" database= InnvatrSlutins" server="lcalhst" uid="innvatr" pwd="innvatr" dbtype="sql Server" /> 3) Change the line by remving the x in frnt f the DB-Cnnectin a. Select Start Settings Cntrl Panel 2) Open Administrative Tls 3) Open Services 4) Find the Wrld Wide Web Publishing service a. Right click n Wrld Wide Web Publishing service b. Select Restart 1.1.7 Step 8 Ntify Users Ntify Users that they can nw safely lg back int Innvatr. 1.2 Adding viewers in new databases. 1.2.1 Enabling the Viewer These steps will use the Aras viewer as an example. 1) Lg int Innvatr as an administrative user 2) Frm the TOC select Administratin Viewers 3) Frm the main tlbar select New Item 4) In the Viewer frm, fill in the fllwing values a. Name = Aras b. Descriptin = Built-in 2-D Image viewer c. Viewer URL = viewers/aras.html 5) Save, Unlck, and Clse 1.2.2 Assciating the File Type with the Viewer These steps will use the TIFF file type as an example. 1) Lg int Innvatr as an administrative user 2) Frm the TOC select Administratin File Type 3) Search fr the File Type where Name = TIFF a. Open in edit mde 4) Select the View With relatinship tab 5) Frm the relatinship tlbar, select New Relatinship a. Search fr and select Aras viewer. b. Select green checkmark Return Selected buttn frm the search dialg tlbar. 6) Save, Unlck, and Clse 1.2.3 Other Viewers The table belw prvides the value fr the prperties f the Viewer item type fr each f the viewers that can be enabled with a standard Aras Innvatr install.
