1 Introduction The present document has been developed as part of the WP8 Dissemination and communication and provides an overview of the EDI-Net website. The objective of the website is to make easy access to detailed EDI-Net information and useful tools available. The main functions are dissemination with a design focusing on communication. The idea is the visitors find tools and resources that make them return again becoming part of the community and the network. The website creates an interactive experience by engaging the visitors directly with it. 2 EDI-Net web presence The website URL is www.edi-net.eu. The server is located in Germany and Climate Alliance (CA) runs the website under German law. The website was created with the content management system typo3. Interested partners can be entitled to use the system as editors. Overview The menu items are: Home Our Initiative o o o o Background Objectives Tools & Methods Our Consortium Pilot Sites o City of Leicester o City of Nuremberg o Generalitat de Catalunya Service o o o Materials FAQ News Helpdesk Newsletter Sign up Page 5 of 15
In month 7 the forum will be available, in month 11 the helpdesk can be used and soon the users will have access to the dashboard. FAQ will be online when the helpdesk is in operation. A special feature of the EDI- Net website is the smartphone and tablet adaptation for Android and Apple OS based devices. The upmost level of navigation is shown on every page. The home button as well as the home navigation point leads back to the start page. Editors can add subpages and the navigation is automatically updated. From the start, the website is available in English. A German version will follow in a couple of weeks and Spanish and Catalan versions are currently at a planning stage. The dashboard and the forum are interconnected with the EDI-Net website and are run by the project partners. On the dashboard the participating local authorities will be able to organise their data and at the forum all engaged users can communicate with each other. A click on the news icon in the top right corner leads to a list of news items. Just below the top picture the user can later choose his or her preferred language. All this is all available on any page of the website. To be able to inform about the EDI-Net project buttons were included which forward to the user s social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn but also to the user s e-mail account. This function is also available on each site of the website. The legal notice (imprint), the disclaimer and the data protection rules according to which the EDI-Net website is operating are located in the footer to be easily accessible. The footer also links to the EDI-Net forum, the project s LinkedIn account, provides phone or email contact data to get in touch with the helpdesk and provides an option to sign up for the newsletter. The flag and a hint to the projects funding by the European Union are at the very end of the site. Page 6 of 15
2.1 Home: www.edi-net.eu The start page welcomes the user with a short description of the project telling about the advantages of being part of the initiative. It also gives information about how to join the EDI-Net initiative. On the right of the start page there is a statement either from the EDI-Net project coordinator or of the Climate Alliance Director highlighting the initiative s unique features. The statements are rotating by reloading the start page. Above the statement a grey coloured box shows the latest news coming from the news extension list. Figure 1: Start page Page 7 of 15

2.2 Our Initiative This site and the attached subpages are normal written content pages giving information about the initiative, the background, the objectives, the tools & methods and the consortium partners of the EDI-Net initiative. Figure 4: Subsection Our Initiative Page 9 of 15
2.3 Pilot Sites The Pilot Sites develop and implement the EDI-Net solution. On the first level there is an overall view of the main Pilot Sites tasks. The second level provides further information about the three Pilot Sites Leicester, Nuremberg and Catalonia. Figure 5: Subsection Pilot Sites Page 10 of 15
2.4 Service EDI-Net is supporting participating public authorities i.a. with a helpdesk, which will be available soon and which can be found under the category service to retrieve detailed contact data. Under this category, users can also find the project s newsletters or sign up for the newsletter. The advantage of the sign up tool is the newsletter recipients can subscribe or unsubscribe themselves or edit their profile without Climate Alliance or project partners having to manage the recipients list manually. 2.5 Materials This subsection will provide different kind of materials like the online training and case study materials, fact sheets, videos and other practical guidelines. The EDI-Net leaflet is already available and can be downloaded to be sent to other potential users. Figure 7: Subsection Materials Page 12 of 15
2.6 FAQs In Task 8.3 a contact point and a helpdesk have to be created until month 11 of the project. Part of the helpdesk operation will be a FAQ (frequently asked questions) section, which is going to be part of the EDI- Net website. Technical preconditions for handling FAQs on the EDI-Net website were already developed. The FAQs are rendered presenting the content in an accordion like way. Individual items and groups can be extended. We kept in mind the FAQ section is an important part of the helpdesk, which has besides the regular consultation - a second level for more technical questions. The screenshot just shows an example of how it is going to look like technically. The FAQ site will be finally available in the beginning of 2017. Figure 8: Subsection FAQ Page 13 of 15
2.7 News In this subsection information is provided about activities of partners, events, deliverables and other interesting topics concerning the project. Figure 9: Subsection News Page 14 of 15
3 Conclusion The EDI-Net website is a growing website. The content management system typo3 allows quick additions of content in any part of the web site. There is the option to represent all kinds of different materials like videos, downloads, newsletters, training materials, etc. The structure of the website is clearly adapted to the specific needs of the project. The website serves as a centre of communication activities and public engagement of the initiative and provides the opportunity to connect to the discussion forum and to get access to the dashboard.
