Overview Home Button Takes you back to the Home screen at any time. Click the Home button, tap an app to open it. Double click the Home button to see apps you ve opened. Sleep/Wake Button Volume Button and Side Switch Lock ipad - Press the Sleep/Wake button Unlock ipad - Press the Sleep/Wake button, (or home button) then drag the slider that appears onscreen. Turn ipad on - Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. Turn ipad off - Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the slider appears onscreen, then drag the slider. The Volume button will adjust the volume alerts, sounds, and other media sources. The Side Switch can be used to silence (mute) audio alerts and various notifications. 4

Navigation Control Center The control center gives you instant access to tools such as camera, volume, timer/alarm, brightness, screen lock, etc. Alerts and Notifications Calendar alerts let you know about important events. You can also reveal notifications by swiping down from the top edge of the screen. To choose what information appears, tap the Edit key at the end of the Today tab. 7

Navigation Using Apps Tap an app to open it. Press the Home button anytime to return to the Home Screen. Swipe left or right to see other screens. Arranging Apps Apps can be re-arranged by holding the app down for 3 seconds, then moving the app to another slide or into a folder. To create a folder hold one app over the other. Deleting an App Hold the app down for 3 seconds, all apps will begin to wiggle, then tap X. 9

Connectivity Connect to Wi-Fi To choose a Wi-Fi network or adjust settings Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Choose a network: Tap one of the listed networks, then enter your password, if asked. Ask to join networks: Turn on Ask to Join Networks to be prompted when a Wi-Fi network is available. Personal Hotspot Use Personal Hotspot to provide another device internet access. To activate: Go to Settings > Cellular Data > Tap Personal Hotspot It is important to use WiFi when it is available using your ipad or your iphone as a personal hotspot draws on the company s pool of cellular data. 12
FaceTime FaceTime allows you to make video calls to other ios users The FaceTime camera lets you talk face-to-face. Switch to the rear isight camera to share what you see around you. To make a FaceTime call: Make sure FaceTime is turned on in Settings > FaceTime. Tap FaceTime App, then type the name or number you want to call. Select video call or FaceTime audio call. To use your voice to start the call: Press and hold the Home button, then say FaceTime, followed by the name of the person to call. Add multiple audio callers: Put the first call on hold, then tap to add another FaceTime audio call. FaceTime is a great tool to use if you want to show the person your talking to what you can see (job walk, issues, etc.) Multitask during a call: Press the Home button, then tap an app icon. You can still talk with your friend, but you can t see each other. To return to the video, tap the green bar at the top of the screen. 13
icloud icloud Basics Each Apple ID has 5 GB of storage on the icloud You can back up pictures, email, messages, etc. to the icloud You can manage what is backed up to your icloud by selecting settings icloud You can also purchase additional storage if needed 14
imessage Send and Receive Messages Managing Messages Forward a message or attachment. Touch and hold a message or attachment, tap More, select additional items if desired, then tap Delete a message or attachment. Touch and hold a message or attachment, tap More, select additional items if desired, then tap Sync imessage Phone to ipad Settings > imessage > Slide to on. Delete a conversation. In the message list, swipe the conversation from right to left, then tap Delete DELETE DELETE Search conversations. E-mail Email Functions Change mailboxes or accounts. Click Mailbox. Search Messages. Type keywords into the search bar. Edit messages. Delete, move and mark messages. Compose a message. Click the paper and pen pad. NOTE: Email folders can only be created/managed in the Outlook Webmail application in Okta. 17
E-mail Tricks Multi-Tasking with Email To multi task while writing an email, swipe the email down Adding Attachments To add attachments, tap and hold on any blank space in the message to bring up a menu and you can select what you want to do Undo Button Shake your ipad to recover a recently deleted email. Get notified of replies to a message or thread. Tap, then tap Notify Me. Gather important messages. Tap the sender s name in a message, then tap Add to VIP. 18
Safari Use Safari on ipad to browse the web, use Reading List to collect webpages to read later, and add page icons to the Home screen for quick access. Sharing Button 19
Safari Browse open tabs. Tap tabs., or pinch with three fingers to view all your open Bookmark the current page. Tap (or touch and hold ), then tap Add Bookmark. Get organized. To create a folder for bookmarks, tap, then tap Edit. Save an icon for the current page on your Home screen. Tap, then tap Add to Home Screen. The icon appears only on the device where you create it. Close a tab. Tap on the tab. View recently closed tabs. Touch and hold. Get back to the top. Tap the top edge of the screen to quickly return to the top of a long page. See the latest. Camera Camera & Photos PHOTO: PANO: Quick! Get the camera! From the Lock screen, just swipe up. Or swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Center, then tap. Photos Choose a mode. Drag up or down, or tap the camera mode labels for Time-Lapse, Video, Photo, Square, or Pano. Mark your favorites. While viewing a photo or video, tap to automatically add it to the Favorites album. A photo can be part of another album as well as Favorites. Remove a photo or video from an album. Tap the photo or video, tap, then tap Delete Photo. The photo is removed from the album and from the Photos tab. Share or copy a photo or video. View a photo or video, then tap. 21
Tips & Tricks Set a Passcode Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, then set a 4-digit passcode. Charging your Device Charging your device in airplane mode will speed up the process. Use Siri Siri understands natural speech, ask her anything! (send messages, make calls, set timer, etc.) 22
