1 Purpose This document has series of screenshot for an Afaria 6.6 FP1 post-installation and Configuration activities for a typical POC customer side project, some details and configurations may vary depending on the customer requirements and landscape. Refer Afaria Reference Platform 6.6 FP1 (this document is to be downloaded along with the software media) for more latest information. This document is more of an aid to simplify the understanding of configuring Afaria server, post-installation configurations, and various functionalities with step-by-step screenshots and image illustrated descriptions. Some header descriptions, where noted, are taken directly from the Afaria Reference Manual. Please note that these steps are focusing on ios only. In order to successfully provision and maintain ios clients, you need an ios provisioning server. This software is included with your Afaria Server installation media. ios provisioning server takes care of the Afaria mobile device management (MDM) functionalities related to ios devices. 2 Afaria Administrative Console Following is a walk-through of Afaria Administrative Console, Home screen. The screen below is the main administrative panel with four main categories of admin related tasks. Home, Server Configurations, Administration, and Data views. 2.1.1 Home Description from the Reference Manual: The Home area of the Afaria Administrator contains pertinent information about your Afaria Server, such as the number of client sessions you have run in the last 24 hours, the number of active communications clients are currently running with your server, and the number of defined clients on your server. The Home area displays information about raised and pending alerts on your server, and provides the ability to generate, view and print reports about client sessions and inventory, server logs and messages, client deployments and other important information about your Afaria Server. 2.1.1.1 Server status Check the server status the default Home screen (as shown above) Clicking the Server status will get you the information in shown in the default Home screen, such as Sessions in last 24 hours, Disk Space statistics, etc. You can find out how long the server has been running continuously, how many errors were logged in last 24 hours, number of raised alerts, along with number of defined clients and current Active sessions. In order to Stop or Restart the Afaria server, you need to get to the same screen. SAP AG Page 9 of 23
2.1.1.2 Reports Following is a screenshot of available reports Following is an example to generate an ios Hardware report. Click on Reports and then Inventory, and double-click on ios Hardware. SAP AG Page 10 of 23
In case of a report to be generated for a specific device, you can put the Device ID in the above screen. This test report is for All devices. Following is how the report will look, once you click on Run in the above screen. This report can be printed, saved, etc. You can create your own custom report as well. Afaria Reference Manual has a procedure included on how to do this. Page 78 to 80 of Afaria Rererence Manual 6.6FP1. SAP AG Page 11 of 23
2.1.1.3 Client Deployment This is used for OTA deployment center. Following is how you can create a new address. Detailed information on the procedure to complete Client Deployment is not included in this document. Provide information and click Save in the following screen. For a typical POC implementation of Afaria, OTA server will most likely not included in the scope of work. SAP AG Page 12 of 23
2.1.2 Server configuration 2.1.2.1 Properties 2.1.2.2 Logging policy Best practice would be to exclude Successful events from logging. Following is how it can be done. Once the changes are made, you must restart the service to get this change into effect. SAP AG Page 13 of 23
2.1.2.3 Log cleanup Best practice would be to perform cleanup often enough that it doesn t negatively impact Afaria server performance. This should comply with the organization s log retention requirements. SAP AG Page 14 of 23
2.1.2.4 SMTP Provide SMTP server details and an address created for the Afaria service user. Customer should provide this. SAP AG Page 15 of 23
2.1.2.5 Client communications Following is a basic configuration done for Client communications part. The HTTP port has been changed from default 80 to 81, to accommodate IIS on the same server. This server hosts, Afaria server, Afaria Administrator, IIS, and ios provisioning server. The DB is on a separate server on this landscape. SAP AG Page 16 of 23
2.1.2.6 ios Server Following is what needs to be configured for an ios Server. Provide server address in a FQDN format. Virtual directory values should already be there, from installation. CA Name and CA Server address and in case of a Relay Server, all of these information should also be entered here. SAP AG Page 17 of 23
2.1.2.7 ios Notification ios notification server component is to be configured as following. MDM certificate name should be populated as a result of executing certificate push executable. In case of trouble pushing it that way, you can manually get the certificate installed by clicking on Browse and selecting the APNS certificate. Manually entering certificate information. 2.1.2.8 Server scheduled This is to define maintenance tasks for Afaria server. For a typical POC implementation, you may not need to configure this. SAP AG Page 19 of 23
2.1.3 Policies and Profiles 2.1.3.1 Group Profiles Click on New Work profile as shown below: Profile Name and Description SAP AG Page 20 of 23
2.1.3.2 Details Filter it for ios only by clicking Edit Deselect all, then select ios Clients and click OK 2.1.3.3 Assignments Assign a group to a Group Profile from the Assignments tab, as shown below SAP AG Page 21 of 23
Once clicked OK in the above, you will see an entry of this group (ios in this case) in the list of Assignments. 2.1.3.4 Policies All policies will be listed here. You can create a new policy by clicking on Create. Once created, it will be listed in the available policies. You can enable and disable according to your requirements by clicking on the check box under Enabled column. 2.1.3.5 Portal Packages All portal packages are listed in this tab. You can create a new portal package by clicking on Create and the newly created portal package will be available in the field below. SAP AG Page 22 of 23
