BlackBerry TM Enterprise Server 2.0 for Lotus Domino product information March 20, 2001 Contents About the BlackBerry Enterprise Server System requirements Installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software Known issues Uninstalling BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software CD contents About the BlackBerry Enterprise Server The BlackBerry Enterprise Server helps IT departments centralize administration and control of mobile email. For administrative procedures, please refer to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Installation & Getting Started Guide and online help.

System requirements The following components are required to install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino TM software: Hardware Intel-compatible Pentium II or higher (233 MHz or higher, 128 MB RAM) 10MbpsLANconnection Software Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 3 or higher) Lotus Domino Server and Client, 4.6 or higher. Note Your corporate firewall must be able to resolve Internet addresses using DNS. Firewall configuration The BlackBerry Enterprise Server always initiates connections to the wireless network in an outbound direction. To support BlackBerry in an environment with a firewall in place, the firewall must be configured to allow computers within the company to initiate TCP connections to an outside server listening on port 3101. If the firewall is a proxying firewall, the proxy must be transparent. Please ensure that your firewall is configured to accommodate these types of connections.

Installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software Follow these steps to install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino. 1. Insert the BlackBerry Enterprise Server CD into the CD drive of the computer that will run the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The computer must have Lotus Domino 4.6 or above already installed. 2. Double-click the Installer folder to open it. Double-click BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino to start the installation. A Welcome screen appears. 3. Click Next. The License Agreement window appears. Please read the license agreement carefully; proceeding with the installation indicates that you accept its conditions. Click Yes to continue. The Setup Type window appears. 4. To install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, select BlackBerry Server and Utilities. If you are installing a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Administration Console, select BlackBerry Utilities Only. Click Next to continue. The first BlackBerry Server screen appears. Note If you want to manage the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from another machine, install the Utilities on that machine as well as on the current machine. 5. In the BlackBerry Server screen, enter the following values: In the System Attendant field, type the email address of the System Administrator. Use a valid email address that can send and receive e-mail messages. This address is used

when sending a message from the BESAdmin to an individual or a broadcast. 6. A second BlackBerry Server window contains Polling Interval andsrpportandsrphostinformation. In the Polling Interval field, type the number of seconds to wait between mailbox lookups. This value determines how often the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will scan each user's mailbox for new mail. The default value is 20 seconds. The SRP Port is set to 3101, and should not be changed. This is an outbound connection. The SRP Host connects to the wireless network. You will find the SRP Host information on the installation label on the CD. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server can sit anywhere on the LAN and route its TCP/IP traffic through the firewall or through a transparent proxy server. Click Next to continue. Note If you have a non-transparent proxy, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server can be configured to access an internal proxy address which is then translated externally to the SRP Host specified on the installation label on the CD. 7. During your initial installation, ensure that the Check SRP connection box is checked. The setup program will perform a test to ensure that the server can connect to the SRP Host. If the test is successful, messages will confirm your connection. From the DOS prompt, press Enter to continue. Click OK to close the message and continue the installation.

If the test is not successful, you will see an error message. Note the error code, and press Enter, and click OK in the dialog box to close the error message. Note If the SRP test is not successful, you will have to correct the reason for the failure before you can continue your installation. See "Resolving Connection Errors" on page 28 of the "BlackBerry Enterprise Server Installation and Getting Started Guide" (available on the ftp site) for a list of common errors and suggestions for their resolution. 8. Enter the SRP ID and Authentication Key values obtained from the installation label on the CD. This key is unique to each host license. Each BlackBerry Enterprise Server requires its own unique SRP ID and Authentication Key. Click Next. The Choose Destination Location window appears. Tip The authentication key is very long. To simplify installations, upgrades, and reinstalls, create a.txt file containing your authentication key. You can use this.txt file to copy the key and paste it into the Authentication Key field. Keep this file in a secure directory. 9. In the Choose Destination Location window, ensure that the destination path is correct and click Next. Thedefaultpathfor the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is C:\Program Files\ Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\ 10. In the Select Program Folder window, ensure the correct folder is selected and click Next to complete the installation. 11. When the installation is complete, you will see a confirmation window. Click Finish to close the window.

Known Issues 1. Occasionally, after the BlackBerry Enterprise Server processes a message, a document previously marked read in the Notes client will be changed back to unread. 2. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server logs events to both the Notes Log, and the NT Event log. Check both logs occasionally to make sure they aren't filling up. 3. Pending message counter on the BESAdmin does not increment properly. If you click on a user to see stats, the pending message count is always zero, even if messages are queued up to be sent while the user is out of coverage or has turned off his/her device. 4. TELL BES commands are not logged to the Notes Log, only to the console. 5. The BESAdmin does not have type-ahead search when adding a new user. Uninstalling BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software To uninstall the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, follow these steps. 1. From the Lotus Domino Server console screen, type: tell BES Quit 2. In the Services utility, stop the RNG Mixer Service by selecting Start> Settings> Control Panel> Services. From the list of services select RNG Mixer. Click Stop. 3. Uninstall the BlackBerry Enterprise Server by selecting Start> Settings> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs. AnAdd/ Remove window appears.

4. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties window, select BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino and click Add/Remove. A Confirm File Deletion dialog appears. 5. Click OK to remove the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software. A confirmation window will appear when all programs have been successfully removed. Note Uninstalling the application does not remove the user configuration and message queue databases. If you wish to remove these as well, these items can be found in the BES folder in the Lotus Domino Server s data directory. CD contents BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software included in your installer files: BES.exe: the Lotus Domino Server add-in task that redirects email from the user's Notes mailbox to the BlackBerry handheld BESMonitor.exe: the program that shows the current status of any BlackBerry Enterprise Server BESAdmin.exe: the program that allows administrators to manage users on any BlackBerry Enterprise Server ITPolicy.inf file: can be used to change the default settings for users' desktop software ITPolicy.exe: used in conjunction with the policy.inf file to generate a scrambled policy.bin file that is used to configure users' desktop software default settings Command line utility BBSRPTest.exe: the utility that tests the SRP connection to RIM
