Introduction Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the In-Desk USB Hub. The Hub provides four downstream USB ports that offer backward-compatible, Plug-and-Play connectivity with all USB devices, including USB. (low- and full-speed) and USB.0 (high-speed) devices. This includes such peripherals as scanners, printers, mass-storage devices, and high-resolution cameras. The Hub is self-powered, which allows the cascading of devices with additional hubs so that up to 7 USB devices may be connected to a single port. The Hub fits into an included - or -inch mounting ring, for discreet placement into your desk. Note: If your desk does not have a pre-drilled hole in it, you can drill one yourself using a - or -inch hole saw (requires separate purchase, not from Belkin). Note: When the Hub is connected to a USB. host controller, the maximum USB. bandwidth of Mbps must be shared by all four ports.

Installation IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not connect any USB devices to the Hub until instructed to do so in step 5 of this installation procedure.. Insert the mounting ring into the desk.. Plug the included power adapter into a wall outlet or surge suppressor, running its cable through the mounting ring. Do not plug it into the Hub yet.. Plug the flat end of the USB device cable into the downstream port of your computer or another hub; and run the USB cable through the mounting ring. 4. Now, plug in the power cable s connector to the power jack on the rear of the Hub. Note: You can use the Hub without the power supply when connecting low-power devices such as keyboards and mice. 5. Plug the square end of the USB device cable into the upstream port on the rear of the Hub. 6. Place the Hub into the mounting ring. Important Note: The Hub must be connected to a USB.0- compliant host in order to function in high-speed mode (480Mbps data rate). If the Hub is connected to a USB.-compliant host, it will operate only in low- or full-speed mode (.5Mbps/Mbps). 7. Windows will now detect your Hub and install the required driver. (The Windows Install New Hardware Wizard may prompt you to provide your Windows Installation CD to complete the driver-installation process.) Important Note: Hi-Speed USB.0 hub drivers are included with most USB.0 PCI upgrade cards and are pre-installed along with the PCI-card drivers. If you purchased an upgrade card prior to the advent of Hi-Speed USB.0 hub support, please check with your PCI-card vendor for an updated USB.0 driver. 8. Plug the USB-A connector of the USB device or additional hub into any of the In-Desk USB Hub s downstream ports. Important Note: When moving a device from one port to another, it may be necessary to reinstall the USB drivers for that device. 4
