PastPerfect Network Environment Redesign Deployment Plan 1. Business Issue/Opportunity Overview Existing PastPerfect Server-Client environment doesn t function well because client s connection to the server database has been failing almost daily. The problem was discussed with the software vendor and Microsoft Technical Support over an extended period of time and they didn t find any satisfactory solution. The last vendor s suggestion was to replace the server with a central workstation, install the application on that workstation, migrate all databases from the server to the workstation and reconfigure all components. 2. Create general (this document) Fill out and submit TS Project Intake Form Develop step-by-step Deployment Plan Locate all necessary software CDs/DVDs and component downloads Download the latest PastPerfect Update Define a PastPerfect central workstation system requirements Perform HQPastPerfect server backup Perform HQPastPerfect server databases backup (Data, Images, Multimedia) Install a new hard drive into the central PastPerfect workstation Install Windows Vista Sp1, PastPerfect and Microsoft Office 2007 Migrate all PastPerfect databases from HQPastPerfect to the central workstations Create backup solution for the central workstation 3. Deployment Requirements The most recent and successful backups of the following systems: HQPastPerfect HDQ-Archive1 workstation PastPerfect databases A central Workstation PC with Windows 7 Operating System Central workstation with a new 2TB internal hard drive PastPefect user on the central workstation PastPerfect user group as a member of Local Administrator group on the central workstation PastPerfect software CDs/DVDs PastPerfect software additional module CDs/DVDs/Downloads: Network Module Multimedia Module Barcode Printing Module Virtual Exhibit Module PastPerfect-Online Module 5. Install Required Software Install DriverMax on the central workstation Backup all central workstation drivers for Windows Vista SP1 Uninstall the existing hard drive for the central workstation Install a new 2TB hard drive into the central workstation Install a PastPerfect central workstation operating system (Windows 7 Pro with SP1) Install Microsoft Office 2007 and all other necessary applications (see item 5) Install backup software on the central workstation Determine backup location (external hard drive or internal hard drive) Install (on C: drive) and configure PastPerfect on the central workstation Install and configure PastPerfect additional modules: Network, Multimedia, Barcode Printing, Virtual Exhibit, PastPerfect-Online Install the latest PastPerfect Update(s) Create pp5 share on the central workstation (pp5 is PastPerfect installation folder) Create PastPerfect1 user for the central workstation Create a PastPerfect user group Assign the PastPerfect user group a full control on pp5 folder on the central workstation Make the PastPerfect user group as a member of the local Administrators group on the central workstation Map network drive on PastPerfect user workstations pointing to pp5 folder on the central workstation Test network connections between PastPerfect user workstations and the central workstation and users access to the mapped network drive 10. Install Required Hardware Install two internal hard drives Install Epson scanner Install Matrox Install Magnavox DVD player Install all necessary printers (local and network) 11. Migrate All PastPerfect Databases to the Central Workstation Migrate Data, Images and Multimedia databases from HQPastPerfect server to the central workstation (into pp5 folder) Verify that all databases are migrated correctly and can be accessed from all PastPerfect users workstations Create initial full backup of the database folders Configure and schedule incremental and full backups of PastPerfect databases Page 4 of 5

PastPerfect Network Environment Redesign Deployment Verification Initial verification may be performed by opening PastPerfect on two client workstation and work for several hours and verify that users haven t experienced known issue or new issue More definite verification would be completed by opening PastPerfect on two client workstations, doing a regular PastPerfect work for several days and check for issue(s) The definite verification is going to be possible only after a prolong use of the new PastPerfect Network Environment without any issue(s) and that may take for a couple of months or more. 13. Change Management Completion Report After the redesigned PastPerfect Network Environment was deployed successfully, make sure to report that Change Management Request Completion Report was submitted in the SharePoint Change Management Site. 14. Upload This Document To Infrastructure SharePoint Site After the PastPerfect Network Environment Redesign Deployment project was completed successfully, upload this document to the SharePoint Site Infrastructure Documentation.
