Introduction SmartLock Pro Plus (SLP+) Photo View is a stand-alone utility included with SmartLock Pro Plus which creates a scalable window where basic cardholder information and a photo are displayed. Photos are stored in the SmartLock Pro Plus database and are displayed in Photo View when a credential is presented at a defined reader(s). If further information is required, simply placing the mouse over the photo will pop-up a window displaying additional information. Photo View can be run on the PC running the SmartLock Pro Plus software or any other PC which has access to the data folder of the PC running SmartLock Pro Plus through drive mapping. Requirements Photo View requires a networked environment of computers. The system hosting the SmartLock Pro Plus software must be set up to share the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder with the systems which will run Photo View. Important: Pro Plus software support only one (1) connection from a workstation hosting software. Note: If SQL database is used, select Install SQL Native Client if not already installed on the computer where the Pro Plus or the add-on software e.g. is installed. Page 5 of 25
Setup Setting up a network share and installing the software can be accomplished by following the steps outlined below (note experience setting up network shares is a requirement and may require assistance from your IT staff). SHARING THE PRO PLUS DATA FOLDER NOTE: On Windows 7, 8, 10, the ProgramData folder is hidden by default. Follow the steps below to unhide the ProgramData folder. On Windows 7: Using the Windows Explorer, navigate to your PC s C Drive. On the toolbar at the top of the window, click Organize -> Layout -> Menu Bar. Page 6 of 25
You will now have access to a second toolbar at the top of the window. Click on Tools -> Folder Options. The Folder Options window will appear. Click on the View tab, and in the Advanced settings: list find the Hidden files and folders heading, then select the option Show hidden files, folders, and drives. After you have selected this setting, click OK. Page 7 of 25

On Windows 8, Windows 10: Using the File Explorer, navigate to your PC s C Drive. On the toolbar at the top of the window, click on the View tab, and tick off the box beside Hidden items. You will now be able to see the ProgramData folder. Sharing the Pro Plus Data Folder: Share the parent folder of the Smartlock Pro Plus data folder on the system running SmartLock Pro Plus. Using the File Explorer (Windows Explorer in Windows 7), browse to the parent folder which is typically "C:\ProgramData\Cansec\Smartlock Pro Plus" (Windows 7, 8, 10) or C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\Smartlock Pro Plus (Windows XP & 2000). Right click on the folder and select the Properties menu item, then click on the Sharing tab. Click on the Advanced Sharing button. Check off the Share this folder option, then click Apply. Click on Permissions. Page 10 of 25
Check off the permissions boxes that say Change and Read, then click OK. The Permissions window will close. Back on the Advanced Sharing window, click OK. Page 11 of 25
MAPPING A NETWORK DRIVE Map the shared SmartLock Pro Plus data folder on the PC you want to install SLP+ Photo View on. Open the File Explorer (Windows Explorer in Windows 7), click on Computer (called This PC in Windows 8.1), then click on Map Network Drive. Type in the folder path (in the format \\computername\shared folder *), or browse to the folder and select it by clicking the Browse button. Make sure the box beside Reconnect at sign-in is checked off. * Replace computername with the name of the PC running SmartLock Pro Plus, and shared folder with the name of the shared SmartLock Pro Plus data folder on that PC. Click Finish. Page 12 of 25
INSTALLING THE PHOTO VIEW SOFTWARE NOTE: If you are running Windows 7 or 8, you may need to follow the following procedure in order for the shared Pro Plus folder to show up during SLP+ Photo View installation. The following steps are to be done on the PC which you intend to install the Photo View software on. From your Start Menu, select Run. Type in regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor. Navigate your way to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Policies\System. Page 14 of 25
In the pane on the right, right click and scroll from New to DWORD (32-bit) Value and click on it. Name the new entry EnableLinkedConnections. Page 15 of 25
Right click on the entry you just named and click on Modify. Change Value data to 1. Click OK. Reboot your PC for these changes to take effect. Page 16 of 25
Installing the Software Run the SLP+ Photo View installation file and you will be greeted with the first step of the installation process. Click Next. Page 17 of 25
Click Next to install the program to the default installation folder, typically "C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\SLP+ Photo View" (32-bit version of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\cansec Systems Ltd\SLP+ Photo View (64-bit version). Or, click Change, then browse to and select a different location to install the software to. Click Next to proceed. Page 18 of 25
Select the location of the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder. If Pro Plus was installed on the PC you are installing Photo View on, select Local Installation. If Pro Plus was installed on a different PC, select Network Installation. Click Next to proceed. Page 19 of 25
Click Change to browse to and select the parent folder of the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder. If Pro Plus was installed on the same PC you are installing Photo View on, the default location of the folder is typically "C:\ProgramData\Cansec\Smartlock Pro Plus" (Windows 7, 8, 10) or C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\Smartlock Pro Plus (Windows XP & 2000). If Pro Plus was installed on a different PC than the one you are installing Photo View on, click Change to browse to and select the SmartLock Pro Plus folder you mapped in the previous steps. Click OK to select the mapped folder. Once you have selected the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder, click Next to proceed. Page 20 of 25

Photo View PRO PLUS SOFTWARE STATUS You can tell if SmartLock Pro Plus is running from within the Photo View software. Within about 10 seconds of being launched, the program s title bar will update to display SLP+ Photo View SmartLock Pro Plus is running. or SLP+ Photo View - SmartLock Pro Plus is not running. depending on whether the software is running or not. This message will be replaced by cardholder information when a card is presented at a monitored reader (see next section for further description). USING PHOTO VIEW Each time Photo View is launched, you are prompted to select the reader or readers you want Photo View to monitor. Check off the reader(s) you want to monitor, then click OK. The Photo View window will appear. This window will be blank until a card is presented at a monitored reader(s). When cards are presented at a monitored reader(s), the Photo View window will be updated with the cardholder s photo, and the program s title bar will display the cardholder s User Name, User ID, Event (ex. Access Granted, Access Denied) and Location. Page 24 of 25
If the mouse cursor is placed over the Photo View window, a popup will display User Name, User ID, Location, Event, and two additional pieces of information: the Time the card was presented at, and the Date the card was presented on. WINDOW OPTIONS Photo View offers you the ability to resize the program window to be smaller or larger, and the ability to move the window to any location on your screen. Page 25 of 25
