GETTING STARTED BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 2 new AA (LR6/AM-3) batteries into the compartment as illustrated. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.) 4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure. BATTERY NOTICE Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance. Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended. Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable, or new and used batteries. Do not use damaged batteries. Insert batteries with the correct polarity. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals. Remove exhausted batteries from the toy. Remove batteries during long periods of non-use. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries. Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if removable). PRODUCT FEATURES 1. ON/OFF BUTTON To turn the unit on, press the On/Off Button. Press the On/Off Button again to turn the unit off. 2. 6 ACTIVITY BUTTONS Press one of the Activity Buttons to choose any of the six activities. CAT Buh B A 3. LETTER BUTTONS Press the Letter Buttons to learn letters or to answer letter-related questions. 4. ARROW BUTTONS Press the Arrow Buttons to navigate on the screen or to select an option. 5. 6. 3 CHARACTER BUTTONS Press the three Character Buttons (Catboy, Owlette, Gekko) on the tablet to play an animation of that character with a brief introduction or to play some fun phrases related to the characters in each game. 7. SETTINGS BUTTON Press the Settings Button to adjust screen contrast and sound volume. There are three screen contrast options and three volume levels. Use the Left Arrow button to reduce the volume level or contrast, or use the Right Arrow button to increase the volume level or contrast and then press the OK Button to confirm. 8. MUSIC ON/OFF BUTTON Press the Music On/Off Button to turn the background music on or off. 9. AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF To preserve battery life, the Time to be a Hero Learning Tablet will automatically turn off after several minutes of inactivity. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the On/Off button. The unit will also automatically turn off when the batteries are very low. A warning will be displayed on screen as a reminder to change the batteries. TO BEGIN PLAY Press the On/Off button to turn the unit On. A short animation will play and you will be asked to select an activity. Press an activity button to play, or press one of the Character Buttons on the tablet to play an animation or to play a fun phrase related to that character. 6 80-175900 rev IM.indd 6 2017/10/10 10:43:10

ACTIVITIES 1. Letter Fun Let s explore the Picture Player together. Press any letter button to learn about letters, phonics and words. 2. Matching Phonics Oh no! Luna Girl s moths have messed with the Picture Player and the data is not displaying properly. Owlette needs your help to fix the Picture Player by matching the letters with their letter sounds. Press a letter to answer. There are three levels of play with varying degrees of interference hiding the letters. 3. Letter Eggs Watch out! Romeo is launching spoiled eggs all over the city. Help the PJ Masks defend the city from the stinky rotten eggs. Type the letters as they appear to destroy the eggs before they hit the PJ Masks. There are three levels of speed for the letters. 4. Rhyming Words Night Ninja has hidden Master Fang s sword in the park. Help Catboy find the sword. A word will be shown at the bottom of the screen. Press the Left or Right Arrow Button to choose a tree with the word that rhymes with the word at the bottom of the screen. Then press OK to confirm. 5. Super Gekko Camouflage Gekko is hiding from Night Ninja. Help him match the pattern on the wall to hide. Press the Left or Right Arrow Button to choose the matching pattern, then press OK to confirm. There are three levels of difficulty for the patterns. 6. Shapes Maze Oh, no! Romeo has captured Owlette and Gekko, and Catboy needs your help to rescue them. There are a series of doors with different shapes shown on the screen. Doors with matching shapes are linked to one another. Press the Left or Right Arrow Button to move Catboy. Then, press the OK button to enter a door. For example, if Catboy enters a door with a circle, he will exit from another door with a circle on it. Continue to move Catboy until he reaches the cage where he will release Owlette and Gekko. There are three levels of difficulty from simple to complex shapes on the doors. CARE & MAINTENANCE 1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. 2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources. 3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time. 4. TROUBLESHOOTING If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit sit for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. 5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new batteries. This product is covered by a 3-month Warranty from the original purchase date, under normal use and service, against defective workmanship and materials. If the service representative is unable to resolve the issue, you will be provided instructions on how to return the product and have it replaced under Warranty. Return of the product under Warranty must adhere to the following rules: If VTech believes that there may be a defect in the materials or workmanship of the product and can confirm the purchase date and location of the product, we will at our discretion replace the product with a new unit or product of comparable value. A replacement product or parts assumes the remaining Warranty of the original product or 30 days from the date of replacement, whichever provides longer coverage.
