Triangle Artwork Project Introduction: For this project you will work individually creating a project using nothing but triangles. You will create a piece of original artwork using GeoGebra. Your project will be created using only triangles and will be graded on the originality and neatness. Objective: The objective of this project is to use the concepts learned in Chapters 3-5 and create an original piece of artwork that incorporates congruent triangles and their properties. Materials: textbook GeoGebra Criteria: Part 1 - Artwork: You will be creating a piece of artwork using triangles and triangles only. NO other shapes are permitted in your project. The artwork must incorporate reflection either about the x-axis or y-axis. If you want any other shapes, you must make them out of triangles. Be creative and colorful in your design. NOTE: Instead of designing your own art, you are allowed to download an image of your choice (must be school appropriate) and upload it to GeoGebra. Using the GeoGebra tools draw triangles over that image. Do not forget to reflect it either about y-axis or x-axis. Your design must include the following: acute triangles obtuse triangles right triangles scalene triangles equilateral/equiangular triangles isosceles triangles 1 pair of congruent triangles that can be proven by using either SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, or HL
You may use as little or as many of the above mentioned triangles in your artwork; however, they must be used at least once and the entire screen needs to be covered. 90% of the GeoGebra design screen needs to be covered in triangles. See examples below. Part 2 - Written Report: In addition to your physical project you will also need to complete a written aspect of it. You are required to use several different types of triangles in your project along with their properties. In order to prove your learning, you will be required to write a 1 page paper explaining your artwork and the different types of triangles used to create your project. This report must be shared with me via Google Docs or emailed directly to nolifer@cliffsidepark.edu. Criteria for the written report includes: Paragraph 1: introduction Paragraph 2: provide detailed explanations and descriptions of your artwork: how were you inspired to create your artwork, what inspired you to create your artwork, what does your artwork represent, etc. Paragraph 3: describe how you used the different types of triangles listed above along with an explanation of the process used in creating the image(s) in your artwork; how did you incorporate the properties of triangles (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS), include how to determine the congruency of triangles based on SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS (what is required to determine congruency based on these postulates/theorems) Paragraph 4: explain how two or more of the concepts you learned about triangles relate to the real world or how they can be applied to the real world with specific examples, details, reasons, and explanations. Paragraph 5: provide your opinion of the project: how do you feel about your final product, did you enjoy the project, do you feel it reinforced what you learned in the chapter, etc. Paragraph 6: write a concluding paragraph briefly summarizing your paper ** Use your imagination and have fun with this project. ** No late projects and written reports will be accepted. Use your time wisely in class. If you get behind, you may work on the project at home.

Reflection is present. All five properties of congruent triangles are evident in artwork (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL) and are re correctly. Entire poster board is covered with 90% representing triangles Project is neat and clearly thought out and planned. Project incorporates a wide variety of colors. 1-2 triangles listed in the chapter on triangles are missing from the Artwork. Reflection is present. One property of congruent triangles is missing (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL). Minimal white of poster board is exposed and/or is mostly covered with triangles. Project is neat and planned for the most part. Project incorporates some variety of colors. 3-4 triangles listed in the chapter on triangles are missing from the Artwork. Reflection is missing. Two properties of congruent triangles are missing (SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, HL). 50% or more of white is exposed on the poster board and/or is minimally covered in triangles. Project is partially neat and planned. Project incorporates very little of colors. 5 or more triangles listed in the chapter on triangles are missing from the artwork. Reflection is missing. Three or more of the properties of congruent triangles are not re in the artwork. More than 50% of white is exposed on poster board and/or very few triangles are used. Project was rushed, messy, and not taken seriously. Few or no color was used in the project Total:
