Before You Begin Accessing Electronic Facilities and Resources Student ID Vs User Name As a Chula student, you have 2 important identification numbers: student ID and user name. They may look alike, for example: Student ID is comprised of 10 digit number, for example 540 99999 22 User name is comprised of 8 digit number, for example 540 99999 The student ID is used for documentation or references, while the user name is used for verification on Chula IT systems and facilities. These include: Registration system Blackboard e learning system Chula student web mail FTP service (File Transfer Protocol or transferring files for publishing web site on student homepage) Internet access Wireless Lan (NirasNet) Web VPN (Virtual Private Network for remote log in to Chula network to be able to use Chula electronic resources) When you log in to use electronic facilities and services mentioned above, PLEASE LOG IN WITH YOUR USER NAME. So, please go to IT Office web site at http://www.it.chula.ac.th/en Your User Name is Used to Access Chula Systems and Facilities User name and password obtained is used to access the following 1. 8. Try to write an e mail to your friend using Compose button 9. Click Send Message to send the e mail. Attach file(s) if any. 10. To have all e mails automatically forwarded to your personal mail account (like hotmail, yahoo), click Preference menu, Mail Filtering Setting, Forward Address respectively. Type in your e mail address then click Add, then click OK 1 2 4 3 5 11. Have your friend e mail you at your CHULA mail account. Assignment Chula mail ( 1 point) Complete task 4, have your Chula mail account configured the forwarding mails. From your CHULA mail account, e mail me any message at Nenuphar.S@chula.ac.th. I ll reply you. You should have my reply at your personal mail account. Print my reply mail and hand it in. You will only earn the grade if I see that the printout is printed from your personal mail (for example, logo of Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo is shown). Netiquette Since some email did not set the real name of the e mail owner to be appeared to the recipient when sending the e mail, or no subject is stated, creating confusion Please fill in the subject and always put your name at the end of the message or use signature in the e mail option or preference menu.
