You can find the latest version of this document at the OPNET Support Center. Go to www.opnet.com/support, then navigate to the Product Updates page for ACE Live on RSP. Procedure IN-1 Installing ACE Live on RSP 1 Download the ACE Live on RSP.pkg file from the OPNET Support Center. 2 Add the ACE Live on RSP package on the Riverbed Steelhead appliance: 2.1 Log in to the Riverbed web user interface. 2.2 Navigate to the Configure > Maintenance > Licenses page and verify that you have a licensed version of Riverbed Serviced Platform installed on the appliance. 2.3 Navigate to the Configure > Branch Services > RSP Packages page. 2.4 Click Add Package. The page shows options for downloading from a URL or a file. 2.5 (Optional) Enter a descriptive name for the package. This makes it easy to identify the installed package in the Riverbed web UI. (If you do not enter a name, the web UI will use the name of the zip file.) 2.6 Select the From Local File radio button, click Browse, and select the ACE Live on RSP package you downloaded in step IN-1. 2.7 Click Add. The ACE Live on RSP package appears as linked text in the Packages table. (It might take a few minutes for the page to update after you click Add.) 3 Set up the ACE Live on RSP package: 3.1 In the Slots table (bottom), click on the name or number of an empty slot (Slot column). 3.2 Specify a descriptive name (such as ace_live_rsp) in the Slot Name field. The name should not include any spaces, punctuation, or special characters. 3.3 Select the ACE Live on RSP package in the Package File Name pull-down window. 3.4 Click Update Slot. 3.5 Wait until the Slot, Power, Status, Name, and Description fields are updated with the current slot information. (This might take up to ten minutes for the slot to get updated, and you might need to reload the page.) 4 Add the Virtual Network Interfaces (VNIs) that the ACE Live on RSP package will use to monitor the physical network: IN-1
v3 4.1 Navigate to the Configure > Branch Services > RSP Data Flow page. 4.2 Add the first interface: Click Add a VNI. Verify that the Interface menu is set to <ace_live_slot_name>:ace_live_monitor0 and that the Data Flow Position is set to start. Click Add. Verify that the Interface menu is set to <ace_live_slot_name>:ace_live_monitor2 and that the Data Flow Position to end. Click Add. The VNI should now appear in the table. Note The State column in this table will list the two VNIs as not effective. This is expected because the package has not yet been turned on (you will do this in step 5). NOTE The web browser might ask if you want to accept the security certificate, because the browser does not recognize the certificate as coming from a trusted authority. If this happens, you will need to accept the certificate to proceed. The VMware Infrastructure Web Access page appears in a new browser window (or tabbed page). 7.3 Log in with the same credentials you use to log in to your Riverbed Steelhead appliance. NOTE The following steps (up to step 10) are performed in a VMware console window. If a console window does not appear, you might need to perform the following steps: Open the VM console in a new window (the VMware browser page prompts you to click anywhere to open the virtual machine). Download and install a plug-in that enables your browser to communicate with the VMware Remote Console 7.4 In the VMware console window, log in as admin with no password. IN-3
v3 8 Set a new password: 8.1 Enter the passwd command and follow the prompts to set a new password. 9 Run the Guided Configuration Wizard: 9.1 Type setup and press Enter. 9.2 Type config and press Enter. 9.3 Specify the following information when prompted. If you do not know this information, contact your system administrator Hostname The desired name of the ACE Live on RSP virtual appliance; this should be a different name from the Riverbed host. IP address You must have an unused IP address that is different from, but in the same network as, the management interface used by the Riverbed appliance. Subnet mask Default gateway Domain name The fully-qualified domain name that you want to use for the ACE Live on RSP system. 10 Activate the configuration: 10.1 Type commit and press Enter. 10.2 Type yes to reboot the system. 10.3 Wait at least five minutes before continuing to the next step, to ensure that the boot process has finished completely. 11 Log in to the ACE Live web UI: 11.1 Connect with a web browser to the IP address of the ACE Live virtual appliance on port 8443. (You specified this address in step 9.3.) The URL should be one of the following: https://<ip_address_of_ace_live_on_rsp_host>:8443 http://<ip_address_of_ace_live_on_rsp_host>:8080 (this redirects immediately to https on 8443). 11.2 The web browser might ask if you want to accept the security certificate, because it is seeing this certificate for the first time. Accept the certificate (the user interface for doing this is browser-specific). 11.3 When the ACE Live web UI appears, log in as admin with the password you specified in step 8.1. 12 Go to the System > setup page of the web UI and complete the initial configuration: 12.1 Configure DNS: Enter one or more valid DNS servers in the Domain Name Servers section (approximately half way down the page). IN-4
ACE Live on RSP NOTE If there are no DNS servers available to this system, it will not be able to send reports or alerts, and there may be up to a 60 second delay when logging in via the SSH or Java consoles. 12.2 Configure the Internal Address List: Replace the default entries in the Internal Addresses section with the IPs of systems that ACE Live on RSP should identify as internal to your network. This step is necessary for ACE Live on RSP to distinguish internal from external IP addresses, and inbound from outbound traffic, correctly. NOTE The Internal Address List should include only IP addresses in the LAN where the Riverbed appliance is installed. If the appliance is installed in a branch office, for example, this list should include only addresses within that office LAN. If this list includes other addresses, the Riverbed Insights will produce inaccurate results. NOTE It is recommended that you do not include IP ranges that are issued to VPN users connecting from external locations. 12.3 Configure the time zone and NTP servers: Choose the correct time zone for the ACE Live on RSP system from the drop-down in the Time Settings section. Enter one or more valid NTP servers in the Time Settings section. 12.4 Apply the configuration: scroll to the end of the page and click Apply. NOTE You might need to reboot the system for the configuration changes to take effect. If you need to reboot, wait until the system is fully rebooted and then log in to the ACE Live web UI again. 13 Launch the ACE Live console: 13.1 Click on the Launch tab. 13.2 If Java is not installed, click No Java Installed, then follow the instructions on that page to download and install Java. 13.3 Click the ACE Live Console link immediately below the Launch tab. The ACE Live Console downloads to your local host and launches. NOTE If prompted to save or open the.jnlp file, open it with the Java Web Start program. 14 Log in to the ACE Live Console. 14.1 Once the console is loaded, click New. 14.2 Log in with the username admin and no password. The License Manager prompts you to enter a license key. Submit the serial number to OPNET to request a license key. To copy the serial number, select it and then press Ctrl+C. 15 Verify ACE Live data collection: 15.1 Reset your project time to the recent hour: IN-5
v3 Click the Project Time button and choose Recent Hour. Click OK. 15.2 Open the Total Traffic Insight and confirm that it is displaying data. 16 Verify Riverbed address decoding: 16.1 Go to the System > Advanced page of the web UI. 16.2 Verify that the Decode Correct Addressing option has been enabled and that it specifies the In-path Interface IP of the Riverbed appliance. 16.3 Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page. A dialog box appears and notifies you that applying these changes will restart the web server. 16.4 Click OK to apply the changes and restart the server. End of Procedure IN-1 IN-6
