Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.03 28i / 124i Base Software 5.03 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 28i/124i Base Software version 5.03. 1. New Features 1.1 ISDN, BRI: New Program Added to 28i System Program 0307 - ISDN PCB Setup has been added to the 28i System. This program provides the ability to set up the system s ISDN PCBs. The system allows up to 4 ISDN BRI PCBs. The programming should be entered before plugging in the PCB. For complete programming details on setting up BRI, refer to the Software Manual (P/N 92000SWGxx) and the ISDN - BRI Manual (P/N 92000BRIxx). 1.2 LAPB, 124i: New LAPB With RS232 Port on PCB Available A new LAPB PCB (P/N 92008) which provides an RS-232 port on the PCB is now available for the 124i system. This port is not programmable and is set at 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity. The LAPB PCB for the 28i system already provides this feature. 2. Enhancements to Existing Features 2.1 Central Office Calls, Answering: Universal Answer Programming Changed The description of Program 0406 - COS Options, Item 126: Universal Answer Code has been changed. Previously, this program allowed or denied an extension s ability to use the Universal Answer service code. This program will now enable or disable the Universal Auto Answer feature. This feature allows a user to simply lift the handset to answer a ringing call; they don t need to dial the service code. The entries for this program are now 0 to disable Universal Auto Answer and 1 to enable the Universal Auto Answer feature (default=0). Any extension will now be able to use the Universal Answer service code - the system will not check the station s Class of Service programming. 3. Software Corrections 3.1 Call Coverage Key: Extension Lockup Occurring With previous software, it was possible for the Call Coverage Key to cause an extension to lock up in the following situation: Extension 302 answers a call ringing their Call Coverage Key and places the call on Hold. Extension 302 answers a ringing Intercom call on their Call Coverage Key and places the call on Hold. Extension 302 press the Call Coverage Key and the station locks up. 3.2 Call Coverage Key: No Talk Path on Call Coverage Key With previous software, it was possible for a call on the Call Coverage Key not to have a talk path in the following situation: Extension 302 answers a call ringing their Call Coverage Key and places the call on Hold. Extension 302 answers a ringing Intercom call on their Call Coverage Key and places the call on Hold. Extension 302 answers another ringing Intercom call on their Call Coverage Key, but there is no talk path for the call. 1

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.03 3.3 DIMU: Output Changed to Show Port Status The DIMU output has been changed to show the port status. Example: OLD output : [01/08 16:42]EVNT:0000,1501,0001,097B NEW output : 16:54 EV:0000,0102-0011,0014,000A (In this case, 0011 is the port status.) 3.4 i-series Phones: Display Contrast Too Light The contrast setting on the display i-series phones have been set to prevent the display from being lightened to a blank screen. Previously, it was possible to lighten the display to the point where is was not visible. 3.5 i-series Phones: Display Doesn t Update Correctly After Cancelling Park/Page The display on the i-series phones will now update correctly when the VAU s Park/Page feature is cancelled. Previously, the system would not update to the normal time/date display unless the handset was cycled (picked up and put back on hook). 3.6 i-series Phones: Group Listen Does Not Turn Off The i-series phones will now allow Group Listen to be turned off. Previously, after turning on the Group Listen feature, pressing the SPK key would not cancel the function and the display would continue to show GROUP LISTEN. 3.7 i-series Phones: Paging Interrupts Soft Key Operation Previously, if a Page occurred while performing a soft key operation, the soft key operation would be interrupted. This will no longer occur with this software. 3.8 i-series Phones: Voice Mail Message Prompt MSGA Doesn t Appear With previous software, the i-series phones would not display the MSGA prompt when an extension had a voice mail message unless the user prompted for it by pressing CLEAR or toggling through the display. The system ignored the setting in Program 0419 -Class of Service Options (Part B), Item 24: Soft Key Display. This will no longer occur with this software release. 3.9 i-series Phones: Volume Up/Volume Down Setting Not Displayed After pressing the CHECK key then either Volume Up or Volume Down on i-series display phones, the display will now indicate the volume setting on the display. Previously, the display would not show the current volume setting. 3.10 ISDN, BRI: Second Line on BRI PCB Not Working Both BRI circuits will now work correctly. With previous software, the second circuit was not functioning correctly. 3.11 LAPB: RS232 Port Lockup If a PC was disconnected from the LAPB s RS232 port during LOG-IN, the port would not detect the DTR signal and the port would lock up. With this version of software, this will no longer occur. 2

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.03 3.12 System Programming: Program Name Displayed Incorrectly In the 28i system only, with this software version, the system will now indicate the correct program name, 0140:KST GAIN SETUP, for Program 0140 - Keyset Level Setup. With previous software, the system displayed 0140:ISDN OPTION. The 124i software indicates the proper display. 3.13 System Programming: Program Number 0311 Displays Incorrectly Using phone programming, if a user enter Program 0305 and then entered Program 0311, the display would still show Program 0305. This has been corrected with this software version. 4. Documentation Corrections On page 4-16 of the 28i / 124i Hardware Manual (P/N 92601INS08), there is a typo in the 28i information for Background Music. The first paragraph for Background Music pertains to the 124i. It reads as follows: To Program Background Music on the 124i... No programming to enable Background Music is required. Refer to Background Music in the Software Manual for additional details. The second paragraph for Background Music states To Program Background Music on the 124i... This should actually read To Program Background Music on the 28i... Step A in this same paragraph should be changed to the following: a. Enter programming mode using the Installer s password (default: 12345678). This information will be corrected in the next release of the 28i / 124i Hardware Manual (P/N 92601INS09). 3

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.05 28i / 124i Base Software 5.05 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 28i/124i Base Software version 5.05. 1. New Features There are no new features in this release. 2. Enhancements to Existing Features There are no enhancements to existing features in this release. 3. Software Corrections 3.1 Account Codes: Redialed Numbers No Longer Contain Account Codes When using the Last Number Redial, Save or Repeat Dial features, the user will now be required to re-enter an Account Code. Previously, the system would retain the Account Codes, which could be redialed later by anyone using that phone. Caution: If a user enters *12345*203 926 5400*67890*, if the Last Number Redial feature is used, the system dials the number as 203 926 5400*67890*. The *67890* is treated as an Account Code. 3.2 Barge In: Pressing Hold After Barge In Causes Erratic System Operation When a keyset user barges into conversation, the Hold key will no longer be operational. Previously, if the keyset user pressed the Hold key and hung up after barging into a call, the other phones involved would operate unexpectedly. 3.3 i-series Telephones: Soft Keys Corrected to Disable Features When Calling Ring Groups When an extension user with an i-series phone placed a call to a ring group, the following soft keys will no longer work: Camp On Message Waiting Step Call Voice Mail Previously, these features could be accessed using the soft keys. This could cause problems with the system operation. 3.4 ISDN, BRI: Call Rejection When a call collision occurs, both the incoming and outgoing calls were released but the memory would not be cleared. Channel ID information may still have remained in memory. When another incoming call was received requesting the same B-channel, the call was rejected due to "User Busy". This software version will now clear the memory to allow new calls requesting the same B-channel to complete. 7

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.05 3.5 ISDN, BRI: Incoming Calls Not Received When telco sends an incoming call on a BRI line, a Call Reference Number is assigned. The 124i system was rejecting calls from telco because it saw that number as already being assigned to a call. This would occur if the RELEASE or RELEASE COMPLETE message was not sent by the system for a previous call. The ITSU PCB would retain the Call Reference Number in memory and then reject any new call from the telco with that same number. Any used Call Reference Numbers will now be cleared from the ITSU PCB s memory so any Call Reference Number from a new, incoming call will be processed correctly. 3.6 ISDN, BRI: System Reset When a call collision occurs, both the incoming and outgoing calls were released, but the memory was not cleared properly. This can cause an overflow into the protected program area of memory. This is a fatal error and when detected, the software would reset the system. This will no longer occur with this version of software as the memory will be cleared when the calls are released. 8

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.06 28i / 124i Base Software 5.06 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 28i/124i Base Software version 5.06. 1. New Features There are no new features in this release. 2. Enhancements to Existing Features There are no enhancements to existing features in this release. 3. Software Corrections 3.1 Improved Software/Firmware Communication. Software version 5.06 improves the communication between the system software and the firmware on BRI, DTDU and DID. In prior software versions, communication errors between system software and these PCBs could result in system lockup. The system would have to be reset to clear the problem. 9

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.06 10

Release Notes 28i / 124i Base Software 5.07 28i / 124i Base Software 5.07 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 28i/124i Base Software version 5.07. 1. New Features There are no new features in this release. 2. Enhancements to Existing Features There are no enhancements to existing features in this release. 3. Software Corrections 3.1 Call Forwarding: Forwarding with No Answer Continues Ringing Extension After Disconnect If a trunk was programmed as type 1 (answered by VAU) or 2 (DISA) in Program 0901 - Basic Trunk Port Setup (Part A), Items 14-17: Trunk Service Type, and Program 1803 - DISA and OPA Transfer Destination had an extension assigned, a problem was experienced with Call Forwarding. When an extension had Call Forwarding with No Answer programmed, if the trunk disconnected the extension would continue to ring. With this software version, this will no longer occur. 3.2 Call Forwarding: Single Line Phones Do Not Forward A single line phone will now be able to have the Call Forwarding feature forward after receiving a busy or no answer signal. With previous software, this would not work correctly. 3.3 i-series: Changing Volume on Phone Occasionally Caused System Reset With previous software, a system reset could occur if a user at an i-series phone changed their ringing volume. This will no longer occur with this version of software. 11

Extension 302 answers a ringing Intercom call on their Call Coverage Key and places the call on Hold. Extension 302 answers another ringing Intercom call on their Call Coverage Key, but there is no talk path for the call. 3.4 DIMU: Output Changed to Show Port Status The DIMU output has been changed to show the port status. Example: OLD output : [01/08 16:42]EVNT:0000,1501,0001,097B NEW output : 16:54 EV:0000,0102-0011,0014,000A (In this case, 0011 is the port status.) 3.5 i-series Phones: ACD Supervisor Logged Out Disables Soft Key Menu With a system programmed for ACD with a system supervisor logged out, the soft key menu would not display on the phone. This will no longer occur with this version of software. 3.6 i-series Phones: Display Contrast Too Light The contrast setting on the display i-series phones have been set to prevent the display from being lightened to a blank screen. Previously, the system would not update to the normal time/date display unless the handset was cycled (picked up and put back on hook). 3.8 i-series Phones: Group Listen Does Not Turn Off The i-series phones will now allow Group Listen to be turned off. Previously, after turning on the Group Listen feature, pressing the SPK key would not cancel the function and the display would continue to show GROUP LISTEN. 3.9 i-series Phones: Paging Interrupts Soft Key Operation Previously, if a Page occurred while performing a soft key operation, the soft key operation would be interrupted. This will no longer occur with this software. 3.10 i-series Phones: Voice Mail Message Prompt MSGA Doesn t Appear With previous software, the i-series phones would not display the MSGA prompt when an extension had a voice mail message unless the user prompted for it by pressing CLEAR or toggling through the display. The system ignored the setting in Program 0419 -Class of Service Options (Part B), Item 24: Soft Key Display. This will no longer occur with this software release. 14

Release Notes 124i EXCPRU Software 5.03 3.11 i-series Phones: Volume Up/Volume Down Setting Not Displayed After pressing the CHECK key then either Volume Up or Volume Down on i-series display phones, the display will now indicate the volume setting on the display. Previously, the display would not show the current volume setting. 3.12 ISDN, BRI: Second Line on BRI PCB Not Working Both BRI circuits will now work correctly. With previous software, the second circuit was not functioning correctly. 3.13 LAPB: RS232 Port Lockup If a PC was disconnected from the LAPB s RS232 port during LOG-IN, the port would not detect the DTR signal and the port would lock up. With this version of software, this will no longer occur. 3.14 System Programming: Program Name Displayed Incorrectly With the 28i system software version, the system will now indicate the correct program name, 0140:KST GAIN SETUP, for Program 0140 - Keyset Level Setup. With previous software, the system displayed 0140:ISDN OPTION. The 124i software indicates the proper display. 3.15 System Programming: Program Number 0311 Displays Incorrectly Using phone programming, if a user enter Program 0305 and then entered Program 0311, the display would still show Program 0305. This has been corrected with this software version. 3.16 T1 Trunking: ANI/DNIS Trunk Lockup Fixed This software corrects an ANI/DNIS trunk lockup problem that could occur if the system were programmed to transfer the call to voice mail if the call was unanswered or reached a busy extension. This involves Programs 2404 - ANI/DNIS Service Options, Item 9: Routing When Destination Busy or Unanswered = 1 (call routes to programmed ring group), 1802 - DISA and OPA Operating Mode, Item 2 Unanswered or Busy = 1 (transfers call), and 1803 - DISA and OPA Transfer Destination = 16 (Voice Mail). 15

Release Notes 124i EXCPRU Software 5.05 124i EXCPRU Software 5.05 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 124i EXCPRU Software version 5.05. 1. New Features 1.1 Telephones: i-series 24-Button DSS Console Available This system software supports the new Nitsuko 28i/124i/384i 24-Button DSS Console, P/N 92756. This DSS Console requires that the cabinet to which they are connected be a 92000A KSU. In a multicabinet system, there is no problem combining different versions of the cabinet, provided that any i- Series phone is connected to a 92000A KSU. The 24-Button DSS Console provides 24 programmable keys used for Busy Lamp Fields (BLF) and one-button access to extension, trunks and system features. You can connect a DSS Console to a Super Display, 34-Button, or 28-Button telephone. The 24-Button DSS Console cannot be daisy-chained to other DSS Consoles. Refer to "Telephones: New Model Phones Available" for more information on programming the i-series phones. 19

Release Notes 124i EXCPRU Software 5.05 3.4 ISDN, BRI: Call Rejection When a call collision occurs, both the incoming and outgoing calls were released but the memory would not be cleared. Channel ID information may still have remained in memory. When another incoming call was received requesting the same B-channel, the call was rejected due to "User Busy". This software version will now clear the memory to allow new calls requesting the same B-channel to complete. 3.5 ISDN, BRI: Incoming Calls Not Received When telco sends an incoming call on a BRI line, a Call Reference Number is assigned. 3.7 T1 Trunking: Transferred T1 Call Dropping Before Being Answered When placing an outgoing call on a T1 trunk, if the call is transferred before the outside party answers, the call will no longer disconnect. With previous software, the system would sent an Answer Request to the outside party. Since the call on the far end was in Idle state and not Talk status (as the system expected), the call would be disconnected. This problem was mostly experienced when a call was transferred to an ACD agent using the ACD master number. 20

Release Notes 124i EXCPRU Software 5.07 124i EXCPRU Software 5.07 These release notes explain the Enhancements and Software Corrections in 124i EXCPRU Software version 5.07. 23
