Please view SmartPro S51 User Guide for instructions on how to use SmartPro S51 programmer and SmartPro software to program the devices. Features SmartPro S51 is a smart low cost USB programmer for 89S series MCUs from Atmel. It connects to the Laptop/Desktop through USB interface and uses simple & easy to use Graphical User Interface based software SmartPro to program the target devices. Its main features are listed below: Supports AT89S2051, AT89S4051, AT89S51, AT89S52 chips USB Port Powered, No external Power Required ZIF socket for easy insertion & removal Header interface for ISP programming Simple & Easy to use Graphical User Interface based Software Supports Erase/Program/Verify/Read/Blank Check operations Compatible with both USB1.1 and USB2.0 Windows 2000, XP & Vista compatible High Speed operation Kit Contents SmartPro S51 Kit consists of: SmartPro S51 Programmer SmartPro Software USB Cable (optional) Software Installation SmartPro S51 programmer works with Windows based software SmartPro. SmartPro software can either be found on the provided software CD or can be downloaded from www.protosmart.co.uk/downloads. To install the software follow the steps mentioned below: Step 1 Double click on the Setup icon to run the installer as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 3 of 11
Step 2 There will be a Setup Wizard screen. Click Next as shown below. Step 3 Select installation location. By default, SmartPro will be installed in C:\Program Files\ProtoSmart. Click Next as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 4 of 11
Step 4 Setup will create program s shortcuts in SmartPro in Start Menu Folder by default. Click Next as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 5 of 11
Step 5 Review the installation settings and then click Install as shown below. Step 6 Setup will install the program in a few seconds. Click Finish as shown below. This also completes the successful installation of SmartPro software. The next step is Driver Installation for SmartPro S51. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 6 of 11
Driver Installation Step 1 Plug in SmartPro S51 programmer into USB port of the computer. Operating system will automatically detect new hardware as shown below. Step 2 Windows will prompt with Found New Hardware Wizard. From the options, select No, not this time and then click Next as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 7 of 11
Step 3 Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) from the options and then click Next as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 8 of 11
Step 4 Mark Include this location in the search: as checked and browse to location where SmartPro was installed which by default is installed in C:\Program Files\ProtoSmart and then click Next as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 9 of 11
Step 5 When prompted with the warning, click Continue Anyway as shown below. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 10 of 11
Step 6 Setup will install the driver in a few moments. Click Finish as shown below to complete the driver installation. This completes the Installation of SmartPro software along with the driver. www.protosmart.co.uk Page 11 of 11
