ibroadcast2 Bulk adding tracklists and segments In ibroadcast2 there are four different kinds of segments. The most commonly used segment is a music tracklist (which appears as Music Played on a programme page), but you can also create speech, highlight and chapter segments (chapters allow the audience to jump to a particular point in your programme). There are many ways segments can be added to episode or clip pages. This guide tells you how to bulk upload using ibroadcast2. There are two automated ways to help you build your bulk upload.txt. i. Bulk Upload Generator Spreadsheet If you work for a pop network you can use this handy excel macro to generate your.txt in the correct layout. Download the bulk upload generator spreadsheet to assist you in the creation of a tracklist as a text file. Note that this spreadsheet is currently only compatible with PCs. Before you start editing your tracklist, enable macros by clicking the Enable Content box. Once you have completed your tracklist, click the Save tracklisting button in the top left corner of the spreadsheet to save your tracklist as a text file. 3
ii. How to Export a Music Document From PROTEUS If you complete your music reporting in Proteus you can export the music in the correct format by completing the following steps: 1. Go to RO Items tab in the programmes Proteus entry. 2. Enter your running order. 3. Then click the Export all button (this is at the top and bottom of your running order). 4. A box will pop up with export options. Select either ibroadcast Compatible Classical music (txt) or ibroadcast Compatible Contemporary music (txt) option (which ever suits your programme best). 5. Click Export and then save. You will now have a file that is ready to be imported into ibroadcast2. 4
Step-by-Step 1. Manage Segments Go to the episode or clip page in ibroadcast2, select the Segments link in the left hand navigation window and then click on the manage segments button on the right of the screen. 2. Upload Your Bulk Upload File If you have created a bulk upload file, then click the blue bulk upload button, select your.txt file and click Open. ibroadcast2 will automatically match Musicbrainz IDs to any contributors. 5
It will then match the Record ID (RID). If any of your tracks did not match a RID then ibroadcast2 will automatically create a new entry. When this process is complete, check your playlist is correct and then press the green save button.. N.B. When Segments fail during saving, the most likely reason is that you have exceeded a character limit (check these for the failed segments - track number is the most common field this occurs in). 3. Publish Segments Check your segments (or tracklist) list for any typos, make sure the correct contributors have been added and their roles have been defined. 6
When you have completed adding and checking segments, press the green save button. 7
