Mailing Labels Use mailing label templates t print mailing r ther infrmatin n labels fr students r staff. Fr example, fr a frm letter that must be mailed t each student s hme, create mailing labels fr the envelpes. Or create file flder labels r name badges. T set up the mailing label template: 1. On the Start Page, click System Reprts > Setup > Mailing Labels 2. Click New 3. Enter a title reflecting the purpse f the labels and the label stck type, such as Parent Mailing Label Avery 5160 4. Select a data table: Students r Staff Quick Reference Card 6. Fr the Label Cntent, fllw these rules: Enter text as yu want it t appear n every label Enter PwerSchl fields and data access tags using the syntax ^(field name) Put spaces between the bjects Bulk mailing labels shuld use uppercase letters in Curier r Helvetica fnt, and n punctuatin and tw spaces between the state and zip cde Use the syntax ^(field name;uppercase) fr uppercase letters 7. Frm Letters Use frm letters t print custmized letters fr students and staff. Fr example, create a letter fr parents ntifying them f their student s attendance ttals r GPA. There are tw parts t setting up a frm letter. Setting Up the Frm Letter Template 3. Type the bdy f the letter Use PwerSchl fields t insert infrmatin frm the database (click the blue Fields link t select valid fields). Use data access tags t insert data frm the server. Use HTML tags t frmat the style f the text with bld r italics emphasis. 1. On the Start Page, click System Reprts > Setup > Frm Letters 2. Click New 3. Enter a title, such as Perfect Attendance Award 4. Select a data table: Students r Staff Fr the Attendance letter, chse Students. 5. Click the title f the new frm letter 2. Click Reprt Bdy 4. Click Submit Reprt Cards Use the reprt card template t create any reprt n which yu need student schedule infrmatin, such as reprt cards, prgress reprts, student schedules, and attendance letters. Reprt cards print either current grades r stred grades, but can nly include terms within the term selected n the PwerSchl Start Page. There are five parts t setting up a reprt card template. Imprting and Exprting Reprts Imprting Reprts Yu can brrw reprts frm ther PwerSchl users. These may be available frm the PwerSchl User Grup (PSUG), ther user grups, r directly frm ther PwerSchl users. Verify that the template is a.pst file. 1. On t the Start Page, click System > Imprt Reprt Template 2. Select the character set t match the perating system f yur server if it has nt been set autmatically (Mac Rman is the default fr Mac servers; Windws ANSI is the default fr Windws PC servers) 3. Click Brwse, and select the file t imprt 4. Click Imprt Exprting Reprts Exprt reprts fr several reasns. Yu may wish t share a reprt with anther PwerSchl user, r yu may want t save a backup f a particular reprt while yu re making changes. 1. On the Start Page, click System Reprts > Setup 2. Save the file t yur desktp Printing Class Rsters The Class Rsters (PDF) reprt creates a PDF file that displays specified infrmatin fr students in the classes f teachers yu chse. Printing a cpy f the Class Rster is an excellent way fr the teacher t have a class list as a field trip rster r end f term grade verificatin sheet. 1. On the Start Page, click System Reprts > Class Rster (PDF) 2. Select the teacher(s) t print rsters fr 3. Select the meetings 4. Select which students t include 5. Chse hw the text in the header will appear n the reprt 6. Select when t print the heading 7. Set up the heading text: Enter text Enter PwerSchl fields t pull infrmatin frm the Sectins table, and enter data access tags as needed Nte: The field ^(class_expressin) des nt wrk; use ^(expressin) instead. 8. Using the Daily Bulletin The daily bulletin is a tl administratrs use t pst annuncements, messages, and reminders t ther staff, students, and parents. The bulletin is an nline bulletin bard, nt an email utility. Creating Bulletin Items 1. On the Start Page, click Special Functins > Daily 2. Click New + 3. Enter a date range 4. Select the target audience Public: All users (administratrs, parents, students, and teachers) can view the item Teacher Users: Administrative users and teachers can view the item Admin Users: Only administrative users can view the item 5. Enter the srt rder 6. Enter an item title, such as Staff Meeting This Friday 7. In the Item Bdy, type yur message using the frmatting tlbar and HTML, if desired 8. Click Submit Editing Bulletin Items 1. On the Start Page, click Special Functins > Daily 2. Click the start date f the bulletin item yu wish t edit 3. Edit the Date Range and Target Audience fields 4. Enter the preferred srt rder, such as 10 Items that have the same srt rder will srted by date. Use the default srt rder f 0 fr items that are very imprtant and need t be listed first. 5. Edit the Item Title and Item Bdy fields 6. Click Submit Deleting Bulletin Items 1. On the Start Page, click Special Functins > Daily 2. Click the bulletin item s start date 3. Click Delete Viewing All Bulletin Items 1. On the Start Page, click Special Functins > Daily 2. Fr Item Title Start, enter HTML tags, as shwn belw, t specify hw yu want text t appear in bulletin item titles Indicate which fnt t use, hw large the letters shuld be, and what clr the letters shuld be. 4. Fr Item Title End, enter HTML tags t turn ff the specificatins fr fnt, size, and clr that yu entered in the Title Start field 5. Fr Item Bdy Start, enter HTML tags t specify hw yu want the text t appear in the bdy f messages 6. Fr Item Bdy End, enter HTML tags t stp the frmatting 7.
