1 INTRODUCTION EasySecurity Symantec will help you to deploy a virtual machine and install Endpoint Protection 14. This manual does not include any link to download the Symantec software. Downloading this software is readers own responsibility. 2 CREATING A VIRTUAL MACHINE If you have not already done so, enter the Azure Portal http://portal.azure.com using your Azure subscription. On the Hub menu, click [+ New], then [Compute] and select [Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter] and click [Create]: 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 3
On the [Basics] step, enter a name for the machine in the [Name] field. In the [VM disk type] field, choose the option appropriate to you. Enter the user name of the machine administrator in the [User Name] field and in the [Password] and [Confirm Password] fields, enter a password for this user. Make sure that the correct subscription is in the [Subscription] field and select an existing resource group in the [Resource group] field. Also check the option in the [Location] field, which should be the closest to you, then click [OK]. 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 4
On the [Size] step, select A2 Standard and click [Select]. If not visible at first, all size options can be displayed through the [View All] button: 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 5
On the [Settings] step, make sure that Yes is selected under [Use managed disks]. For the [Virtual Network] and [Subnet] fields have either your existing resources selected or let the wizard create them automatically. A public IP is not mandatory, in below example we will create one to easily access the machine since we haven t got an already configured VPN connection. If you re not sure what to choose, keep the setting unchanged (which creates a new public IP address). Make sure that the [None] option is selected in the [Availability set] field and that diagnostics is Disabled. Then click [OK]. 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 6
On the [Summary] step, check the information and press [OK]. On the Azure dashboard, you can monitor the machine's deployment process: After deployment, click the new machine s icon and select [Tags], then type [EasyAzure] on both fields [Key Value], then click [Save] and wait for its conclusion. 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 7
3 INSTALLING ENDPOINT PROTECTION 14: Connect to your server with Remote Desktop by either entering the public IP address in the RDP client, or by clicking the [Connect] button in the Virtual Machine overview page: Depending on the used browser and settings, a RDP file will be downloaded/opened which contains all the settings to connect to the machine: After logging in, download the Symantec Endpoint Protection software which you would like to install. In below example we will install the trial version of Symantec Endpoint Protection version 14. Open the installer you downloaded to begin installation, it will prompt a window. After clicking [Next], it is time to create a system administrator account. You must insert your [Company name], [User name], [Password], [Confirm password] and [Email address]: Click [Send Test Email], and before you can proceed, you have to check [Yes] if you have received it. The next step is [Run LiveUpdate] which is recommended by Symantec. It requires maximum computer resources and might take a few hours to complete, depending on your server configuration and network bandwidth. Click [Next]: 9/1/2017 EasySecurity Symantec 11
