Install DVR Software Installation You should always install the Unisight DVR software application prior to installing the capture card. The necessary drivers for the hardware are contained in these installation packages. Insert the Unisight DVR software installation disk into your CD/DVD drive. After inserting the CD the introductory screen appears. (Fig. 1-0) (Fig. 1-0) Read through the License Agreement and click the I Agree button. (Fig. 1-1) If you do not agree to the terms set forth, click the Cancel button to stop the installation process and return back to Windows. (Fig. 1-1) 4

Select the components you want to install. (Fig. 1-2) Note: The Basic Components are required, you cannot remove them from the selection and must be installed. (Fig. 1-2) Choose the destination folder by typing in the absolute path in the Destination Folder field or by selecting the Browse button. (Fig. 1-3) Once the Destination Folder has been configured, click the Install button to install the Unisight DVR software. Once the installation has completed click the Close button to exit the setup and return back to Windows. (Fig. 1-3) 5

Install DVR Hardware Once the software installation has been completed, it is time to install the required video capture card and its associated driver. Turn off the system and disconnect the power cable. Wait at least 30 seconds to allow any remaining electrical power time to dissipate to prevent possible electrical shock to you or the hardware. Remove the side/top panel of the chassis according to the manufacturer specifications. Insert the video capture card being sure to properly seat the card in its appropriate slot. (Fig. 1-4) Depending on the video capture card, you may have to connect the separate Audio addon adapter (not pictured). (Fig. 1-4) (Optional, but required for live preview audio) Install the gray Live Audio Cable to the white connector labeled 'out' on the video capture card. Install the other end of the Live Audio Cable to the black/white connector labeled 'CD-IN' on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard manual for location (if any) of the 'CD-IN' connector. If you are installing multiple video capture cards the audio from each card needs to be daisy chained in order to have live preview audio from all channels. Starting with the first video capture card install the Audio Link cable (short multi-colored cable) to the white connector labeled 'out'. Install the other end of the Audio Link cable to the next video capture card's white connector labeled 'in'. Once the Audio Link cables have all been properly installed, install Live Audio Cable on the last video capture card as instructed. After you have installed the video capture card re-assemble the chassis according to the manufacturer specifications. Now start up the DVR machine and install the drivers. You can use the Windows Device Manager to install the drivers manually or use the automatic driver install program located in the Drivers folder in the Unisight DVR software installation. 6

Connect DVR Harness Depending on the specific capture card model you will have one of two styles of video/audio harnesses. The first style is a 4ch harness. This harness has 4 red video inputs and 4 white video inputs. The video inputs are labeled VID1 through VID4. The audio inputs are labeled AUD1 through AUD4. There is one audio input for each video input on the same harness. The second style of video/audio harnesses has 8 red video inputs and 2 white audio inputs. (Fig. 1-5) The video inputs are labeled VID1 through VID8. The audio inputs are labeled AUD1 through AUD2. There is also a 12ch audio harness labeled AUD6 through AUD12. (Fig. 1-6) The first video harness includes the audio inputs for CH-01 and CH-02. The second video harness includes the audio inputs for ch3 and ch4. The audio harness has the rest of the audio inputs, CH-05 through CH-16. (Fig. 1-5) 7

(Fig. 1-6) Attach the video harness to the wide yellow connector on the back of the Unisight DVR Server and twist the two plastic coated screws to securely hold the harness in place. Attach the audio harness to the wide blue connector on the back of the Unisight DVR Server and twist the two plastic coated screws to securely hold the harness in place. Install DVR Drivers To install the capture card drivers start Windows XP/2000. Once the O/S boots you may see the Found New Hardware wizard. Select the Cancel button each time the wizard pops up. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder that the Unisight DVR Server was installed to. Inside that folder there is a Drivers folder. Inside the Drivers folder is the Driver Install.exe program. This Driver Install.exe program will automatically install or update all the necessary drivers. The drivers may not be WHQL certified. If the WHQL dialog box appears select the Continue Anyway button. After the drivers have been successfully installed restart Windows. 8
