Critical Windows Update file(s) may be required to allow the Software to be installed. Please see the last page of this document if the setup indicates that these files are required. Step 1 Once downloaded, open VeriFire tools, and allow the application to install by clicking Run. Step 2 VERY IMPORTANT! Keep the existing version. Click No to ensure previous projects are not lost. Step 5 The installer will show what to do when it comes to loading the required drivers. If the dialog does pop up later in the installation: Make sure that Always trust software from Honeywell International Inc. is ticked and press Install. Click Next to proceed to the next screen. Step 7 Click Install to start the installation process. Step 8 VeriFire Tools will now install. This will also include some installations of separate software required for VeriFire Tools to run. Verifire Tools V9.40 - Software Install Guide - 20181205 4 of 10

Step 11 Open VeriFire Tools V9.40 from your desktop. A window will appear requesting how previous files will be migrated into the new software. Ensure the Projects box is checked & NFPA Templates is unchecked. Press OK. Verifire Tools V9.40 - Software Install Guide - 20181205 6 of 10
Step 12 Previous projects will now import into the new version of VeriFire Tools. If there are issues with importing the templates, the following dialog will be shown. Click OK to continue. NOTE: Some PCs can be affected by NFN Gateway, a component of VeriFire Tools. NOTE: If the PC has issues connecting to the RS232 COMMS port, it may be due to NFN Gateway scanning the ports and preventing other Fire Panel software from connecting to the port. If this is the case, NFN Gateway can be prevented from starting automatically by doing the following. The software will still automatically load when VeriFire Tools connects, but won t run at start-up. THIS PAGE IS NOT REQUIRED UNLESS THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE RS232 COMM PORT WINDOWS 7: Go to Start Menu -> All Programs -> Startup. Right Click on NFN Gateway and click Delete. WINDOWS 8 / 8.1 / 10: Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to access Task Manager. Click More Details to access additional tabs. NOTE: This won t delete the software, but will prevent it from running at start-up. Click the Startup tab BATCH FILES 2 batch files have been provided within the ZIP file supplied with the VeriFire Tools Installer and are also available on the USB supplied with each 3030 panel. By opening each file, the NFN Gateway service can be manually stopped and started manually. WINDOWS PRE-REQUISITE FILES NOTE: THIS PAGE IS NOT REQUIRED UNLESS THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE INSTALLATION. DISREGARD IF NOT APPLICABLE. The VeriFire Tools installation on Windows 7 / 8 requires certain critical updates in order to ensure a successful installation. The installation detects if this KB is not present on the platform where VeriFire Tools is being installed. If it is not installed, you will see an additional installation screen that will display the message: VeriFire Tools installation on Windows 8 / 8.1 requires a critical Microsoft Operating System update: Windows 8.1 Update for {x64 x86} based systems {KB2919355}. Until that update is in place this installation cannot continue. To properly install this update you need to do the following: 1) Go to the Change Settings section of the Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update area. 2) Select the Install updates automatically (recommended) option. 3) Keep selecting the Check for updates button under the Windows Update area until the {KB2919355} has been installed successfully. NOTE: This can be checked after each update by going to the Installed Updates section of the Windows Update area. 4) Please check the VeriFire Tools download site or What s new in this Release document to explain these steps in further detail. Windows 7 x86/x64-based Systems Operating Systems: VeriFire Tools installation on the above O/S requires Service Pack 1 (KB976932). The KB976932 Installation can be done in 2 ways: o From the following website with instructions: https://www.microsoft.com/en- US/download/details.aspx?id=5842 o Installing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 through Windows Updates: 1. Select the Start button > All Programs > Windows Update. 2. In the left pane, select Check for updates. 3. If any important updates are found, select the link to view available updates. 4. In the list of updates, select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB976932) and then select OK. Note: If SP1 isn t listed, you might need to install some other updates before installing SP1. Install any important updates and then follow these steps again to check for SP1. 5. Select Install updates. 6. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. Follow the instructions to install SP1. 7. After SP1 is installed, sign in to your PC. You might see a notification indicating whether the update was successful. If you disabled your antivirus software before the installation, make sure you turn it back on. Windows 8 / 8.1 x86/x64-based Systems Operating Systems: VeriFire Tools installation on the above OSs requires the critical update: KB2919355 in order to ensure a successful installation. To set up automatic updates go to Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Windows Update -> Change Settings To check that the update is installed, go to Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Programs and Features -> Installed Updates.
