Why Cable Certification?
Future-Safety Only certified cabling systems gives futuresafety that todays and future network applications will work on today installed cabling systems! Class Frequency Network Application Class D 100 MHz 100Base-TX, TR 100Mb/s, 100Base-T, TR 16 Mb/s, ATM155 Mb/s, FW 100Mb/s Class E 250 MHz ATM LAN 1,2Gb/s, 10GBase-T/50m Class E A 500 MHz 10GBase-T/100m Class F 600 MHz FC1000-TP, 10GBase-T Class F A 1000 MHz?40 Gb/s? Class? 1200 / 1600 MHz?40 Gb/s?
Warranties / Performance Warranties Many cabling vendors require a test report from a standard based cable certifier to apply their system warranty to a specific installation. Only a full certification of an installation can ensure that workmanship is done correct. Cheap Cabling With many manufacturers claiming their cabling system to be Class E A, only a full certification ensures that the installed cabling meets all standard requirements. Storage of certification data proves future possibilities of cabling While current standards only define cabling up to Class E A for 10G, captured data may prove that cabling is certified for future technologies such as 40G. Universal Structured Cabling or The Network
Principle of Structured Cabling Universal Structured Cabling This principle is described in all standards: Campus Cabling Connects the buildings with the Campus Distributor (CD) - most only fiber connections Backbone Cabling Connects the floors with the building distributor (BD) fiber and copper connections Horizontal Cabling Connects the workplaces with the Floor Distributor (FD) most copper and sometimes fiber connections Page 11
Cabling Standards ISO 11801 / TIA 568 / EN 50173
What Standards do we have? ISO/IEC 11801 Europe USA IEEE 802.3 EN50173 TIA/EIA 568 C Standards for passive cabling Standards for active transmission systems Page 13

Value Proposition Future Proof Highest frequency range in the industry The only tester supporting all new test requirements and beyond Field upgradeable & re-evaluation for future standards Reliability & Robustness Accuracy beyond Level IV Sustains drop test from 1.5m on a concrete floor No mechanical controls, only power button Cost of Ownership No upgrade cost from Cat6 to Cat6A to Class FA Low cost of consumable accessories (permanent link test cord, battery etc.) Extreme productivity Shortest test time in the industry (less then 9 seconds) 2 Main unit design reduces walk time to half and improve work flow Ease of Use Built-in user manual Easy touch sensitive user interface on both local and remote units Page 21
Productivity and Ease of Use New Dual Control System (DCS TM ) featuring identical devices for remote and main units - makes it really easy to operate the test cycles. Whether coordinated by two technicians or only one, walking time is minimized. control of both sides reduce walking by 50% certification could be carried out by just one technician 2 sets could be transform into one main with 3 remotes total visibility on both sides If battery needs charging units simply can be swapped in the unlikely event of failure, service center will have spare unit available Page 22

High Reliable Concept of Test Heads Concept of test heads for Permanent Link adds to high reliability and reproducibility RJ-45 needs to be replaced after x000 insertions/tests Cable Material wears out after coiling and bending WireXpert Permanent Link solution minimizes cost of ownership Conclusion: both RJ-45 & cable need regular exchange Fluke solution expensive only repairs contacts Page 25
How do we test? Preparations A few preparations: 1. Select Cabling Standard Select standard Select class or category 2. Select Cable Select manufacturer Select cable 3. Select connecting hardware Select manufacturer Select connector 4. Setup the Site Select from database or name site 5. Setup Labeling Select the labeling scheme 6. Setup Operator Select operator or key in a name PROFESSIONAL NETWORK TESTING & PROTOCOL ANALYSIS Page 26
How do we test? Autotests Start an Autotest by pressing: <9s later you will get a result: Detailed results by pressing: Select single item to view graphs OR Save result by twice pressing: Thats all! Start the next Autotest! Page 27
All Autotests done! Whats now? After you have tested all links on site, copy these to an USB - Stick 1. Insert USB - Stick into the USB Host connector of the Local unit 2. The Local unit recognizes the USB - Stick 3. And shows the menu 4. Press 5. The unit copies all test results from your site to the USB - Stick 6. Remove the USB - Stick Page 28
ReportXpert With the Autotests on the USB - Stick, we now can read them into the ReportXpert Software and Manage the Autotests, View the Autotests, Pack the projects, Print Detailed Reports of the Autotests or Print Summary Reports of the project 14.11.2011 Page 29
