Filling New Prescriptions: Using Additional Instructions You can fill, refill, or view a patient s medications prescription and non-prescription on the Profile tab. 1. From the patient Profile tab, press or click the New button. 2
Filling New Prescriptions: Using Additional Instructions (cont d) 2. Type the required information in all the fields. 3. In the SIG field, enter SEE ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS. When dispensing directions are too long to fit on a regular prescription label, you can create an Additional Instructions label The instructions are retained when prescription is refilled, rebilled, or reauthorized 4. Press or click the Process button. 3
Filling New Prescriptions: Using Additional Instructions (cont d) Additional Instructions are used when dispensing directions are too long and will not fit in the SIG field The maximum amount of characters that can be typed in the SIG field is 128 In the label information box, the notation SEE ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS indicates that SIG instructions must be entered 1. Fill a new prescription until Rx Detail appears. 2. Press or click the Rx button. 4

Filling New Prescriptions: Using Additional Instructions 4. Type the dispensing direction in the Additional Text field Type either SIG codes or long hand (this example uses SIG codes) 5. Press or click the Preview button Label Preview displays the expanded directions that will print on the label set 6. Press or click the OK button Pressing the OK button saves the Additional Text Pressing the Cancel button exits the Additional Instruction label window without saving changes made to the Additional Test Section 6
Filling New Prescriptions: Using Additional Instructions The standard label set will print along with an additional label The additional label with have only the dispensing directions on it 7. Review the information in Rx Detail. You will want to ensure all prescription information is correct before pressing the Fill button 8. Press or click the Fill button. A notice appears in the Alerts box to identify that this prescription has additional instructions 7
The Rx Action Button s Function List: @ A GLANCE Let s briefly look at the Rx action buttons; each of the buttons are discussed in greater detail in the relevant sections of PharmaClick Rx Fundamentals Learner s Guide Rx Action buttons provide a set of functions that can be performed on a prescription The availability of Rx Actions buttons is determined by the status of the prescription, therefore some functions may not always be available; functions that are not available will be greyed-out Outbound Call Opens a patient s outbound call preferences for automated Refill and Pickup reminders Review Allows you to view any scanned documents Quick Authorize Allows you to add authorization to pre-authorized and unauthorized prescriptions Transfer Allows you to transfer prescriptions to another pharmacy Correct This button is comprised of various actions' that can be used to correct prescriptions Methadone Opens the Methadone window allowing you to view details of the methadone prescription, or modify the fields if the prescription is not yet filled Change Pack Used with inventory control, this function allows you to change the pack size that will be used for dispensing prescriptions Print Provides the option to reprint a prescription label set Owe Label Allows you to create an owe balance label Delivery Label Allows you to print a delivery label Addi l Instructions Allows you to type additional Instructions when the dispensing directions will not fit in the SIG field Auxiliary Label Allows you to add or remove an auxiliary label for a prescription Detail Allows the user to view a prescription in Rx Detail Schedule Allows you to place one or more refills on the Pending tab to be filled automatically at a future date Add DUR Allows you to add prescription and non-prescription drugs to a patient s profile without filling them as a prescription 8
