Setup GUI 4 -Include all the configuration buttons. -Click to enter setup GUI Button description: -Camera: camera configuration & motion detection regions setup -Record: recording parameters & record schedule setup -Device: RS232 COM port setup -Alarm: alarm input & output setup -Exception: exception management -Local: general parameters, such as video format, time, language, etc. -Network: network parameters -Disk: disk status and management -User: user management -Preview: preview window setup -Upgrade: upgrade button -Factory mode: return to default mode -Log: system log history -About: system information -More: reserved for advanced functions.
Preview 5 Snapshot button When a grid/channel is selected, click it to snapshot a picture. You can browse this picture in File List Playback mode. 1. In the Video Display Panel - Double click one grid/channel to enlarge display of this channel. - Right click to return. 2. In the Preview Control Panel - For a 16-ch system, [25-window] and [36-window] display button is unavailable. - If auto-switch is disabled, click the [Cycle display] button will manually switch to next window(s). If autoswitch is enabled, click the [Cycle display] button will start cycle display.
PTZ Control 6 1. To set PTZ communication protocol, preset point, cruise control, go to [Setup] [Device].
Manual Recording 7 Channel status panel: Blue: In recording (caused by motion, manual or schedule) Manual recording operations: -Left click on channel number to start manual recording. -Right click on channel number to cancel manual recording. -Click [All] button to start recording on all the channels. -Click [None] button to cancel recording on all the channels. 1. The manual recording settings will be canceled when the software restart. 2. When the channel is in schedule recording status, it can not set to manual recording. 3. Recommendation: Manual recording is used for temporary recording, and schedule continuous recording for long-time recording.
Schedule Recording Continuous Recording 8 Step 1 In [Record Setup] window, set recording parameters, then Check the [Apply Schedule] box, click [Record schedule]. Step 2 In [Record Schedule] window, choose the weekday, choose record type as [Continue], and then define time segments or check [Full time] box for 24h recording. 1. - You can click [Copy to] to copy this day s recording schedule to other weekdays. 2. Schedule continuous recording setting will not be canceled after software restart. 3. Recommendation: Schedule continuous recording is for longtime recording.
Motion Detection Recording 1/2 9 Step 1 In [Camera Setup] window, Check [Motion Detect] box, then click [Region] to set motion regions. Step 2 In the [Region Setup] window, left-click to drag detection region (s). And define the sensitivity for them. Note: - Right-click a region to cancel it. - Regions can not be overlapped. - By default, the system is not in motion detection mode. 4 Step 3 Click [Action] to define actions when motion detected. Step 4 Define the actions. By default, the channel will be recording when the channel is in motion detection schedule mode and a motion is detected.
10 Motion Detection Recording 2/2 Step 1 In [Record Setup] window, set recording parameters, then Check the [Apply Schedule] box, click [Record schedule]. 11 Playback File list playback 1/2 Step 1 In the main GUI, click to enter File List Playback mode. Step 2 In the Calendar panel, choose a date. Step 3 Select start time, recording type and channel number, then press [Search] to list the recording files and snapshot pictures. Step 4 In the recording file list, select a recording file (with types as Continuous or MD/Alarm), and double click it to open it directly. Step 5 Or select a fine, and then click [Play] button to start playing this file. Step 6 Control the playback.

13 Playback Event Search Step 1 In the main GUI, click to enter File List Playback mode. Step 2 In the Calendar panel, choose a date. Step 3 Click the to enter Event Search Screen. Step 4 Defines search filters, i.e. time, event type, channel number, then press Search. Step 5 In the event list panel, double click an event to play the recording file.
Playback Time-line playback 14 Step 1 Select date Step 4 press [play] to start playing. Note: 1. To play at a different time, stop play first, then drag the time-line to a new time, and then press play again. 2. Only Play, Pause and Stop button is valid here. System supports max. 4-ch. Of playback simultaneously.
Playback Picture Browser 15 Step 3 Browse control button. Step 1 in the search result panel, select the picture you want to see. Step 2 Double click the picture file to open it in Picture Browser.
Backup data 16 Step 1 In the main GUI, click to enter File List Playback mode. Step 2 Click to enter backup screen. Step 3 Defines search filters, i.e. date, time, recording type, channel number, then press Search. Step 4 In the pop up window, select a backup device. Step 7 Press Ok, system will prompt the backup progress. When finished, remove the backup device. - Before backup, make sure a backup device has been attached. - System supports backup files to USB disk, USB HDD, USB CDRW and IDE CDRW.

19 Windows IE remotely previewing 1. It is strongly recommended to use Windows IE Browser. 2. Be sure that ActiveX controls and plug-ins have been enabled. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Security tab, click Custom level. In the ActiveX controls and plug-ins, keep Enable all the settings. 3. Input the IP address of the Linux DVR server. Make sure that you have configured IP, sub-mask and gateway in the Linux DVR server. 4. IE will prompt you to install application, install it, and IE will reopen a window for running application. See details in next page.

21 Client software When you installed the ActiveX controller, you installed the client software at the same time. Press Start menu, click All Programs, click Linux DVR, and then click Linux DVR NetClient.

Client Setup Click to enter Client Setup page, and add/modify device/group information here. 23 Step 2 Click Add to add this server to Device Tree in left panel Step 3 You can modify channel name and connection quality here. After change, click Modify to save the settings. Step 1 In the Server Panel, define a device here. Name: name the device IP: Linux DVR Server s IP or domain. User: Server username. Admin by default. Password: remote server password. Default no password. Port: the remote connection port. Channel: the channels number of remote server. Step 4. Choose device or channels in Device Tree, and click => to add them to this group. You can change the group name and then click Modify to save settings.
Remote Server Setup 24 Select a device and click Remote Setup to connect to it and configure it remotely.
User Right Setup 25 Check this box to enable autologin, so no need to input username and password when restart Client Software next time.
Remote playback screen 26 Step 1 Select a channel and date here. Step 2 click Search to find recording files. Step 3 Double click a file to playback it in the first available window. No need to assign a window before playback it. Step 4 Click Download to save files locally.
Upgrade DVR Server 1/2 27 The upgrade function can be used for: Software upgrade Import license to register DVR system E-map import Import recording policy file There are two ways to upgrade Linux DVR server: Use USB disk to upgrade it in DVR server. Use Client software or IE client to upgrade system remotely. Use USB disk to upgrade it in DVR server 1. Prepare a USB disk, and create a folder named idvr. (Operation in Windows 2000/XP computer). 2. Copy the upgrade file, in this example named idvr-usb.md, into this folder. The file structure will be like this: F (removable disk): \ idvr \ idvr-usb.md Note: If you have multiple upgrade files, you can upgrade them once. 3. Remove the disk from your Windows computer. And insert it into Linux DVR Server. 4. Power on Linux DVR server. Wait some seconds to enter into software GUI. 5. In the DVR Server s System Configuration Screen, Click Upgrade button. 6. In the popup windows, choose the USB device and then click OK to confirm it. Note: if there is no USB device detected here, please insert USB disk into another USB slot. If it is still not working, it means the USB device is not compatible to the Linux DVR, please try another one. 7. Restart computer. They system is upgraded.
Upgrade DVR Server 2/2 28 Use Client software or IE client to upgrade system remotely 1. In IE client software or Client software, click Remote setup to read remote device s parameters. 2. In Remote Setup page, click Upgrade to enter Upgrade tab. 3. Click Browse to locate the upgrade file or registration file. 4. Click Upgrade button. 5. System will display the upgrade progress and then prompt Upgrade Successfully. Note: it is better to wait another 10-20 seconds for system to transfer data before restart DVR server. 6. Click Remote Reboot to restart Linux DVR server to save the setting.
Register Linux DVR system 29 When software is running, if the video screen is blank (no any character inside) or the channel button is in gray, it means that the DVR card is not fastened well or not registered. Follow these steps to register DVR card and software: 1. Send card number to your supplier. 2. Get a registration file named license.txt. 3. Upgrade the system with this license file. 4. Restart DVR server again.
