Chapter 1 About Sonix Sound Station Sonix Sound Station provides a graphic user interface to interact with audio devices connected to your computer. Sonix Sound Station Overview Sonix Sound Station is a preference pane of System Preferences, launch System Preferences on Apple menu. Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences and click Sonix Sound Station.
Click this icon to active Sonix Sound Station
After clicking the icon of Sonix Sound Station in System Preferences, it will appear Sonix Sound Station s main window. These are three tabs in main window: Output, Input and Mixer tab.
Output Tab You can choose to hear sound played through your computer s built-in speakers, or through external speakers, headphones, stereo or 5.1 channel equipment that you connect to you computer. Also you can adjust the volume and mute for every single speaker. Active Device You can choose a device from the menu list you want to hear sound through.
Volume Tab You can adjust the volume and mute for every single channel if this channel is available.
Filter Tab You can get the audio source type, adjust the output speaker type and adjust the bass frequency for Sub channel. This filter Tab is only available for Sonix USB Audio device. Audio Source
Audio Source displays the type of sound currently played through the audio output device. It may show Mono, Stereo, 2.1 channel or 5.1 channel.
Output Filter You can select an output audio type you want according to your speaker equipment. The selection can be 2.1 speaker, 5.1 speaker and None. If you choose 2.1 speaker or 5.1 speaker, Sonix Sound Station will active audio simulation, even the audio source is 2.1 channel or 5.1 channel. So if the audio source is 2.1 channel or 5.1 channel, please choose None to disable audio simulation. Bass Output Control If you active audio simulation, you can adjust the bass type of Sub channel. The selection can be 120Hz, 300Hz and 450Hz.
Audio Surround Test Tab This tab is for testing your speaker and surround system.
Master Volume and Mute Controller You can adjust the volume and mute for master channel by this control.
Speaker Icon You can test your speakers one by one. When you click on one speaker button and your speaker is ready to play, you will hear sound played through this speaker. So you can test if your speaker is good or not. Test Button Test button can test your surround system. When click on Test button, Sonix Sound Station will play sound with surround effect. This function is only available for Sonix USB Audio device.
Input Tab You can choose to record the sound coming into your built-in microphone, external microphone, external Line-In or external SPDIF interface. Also you can adjust the input volume if you want to compensate for the sound source being too loud or quiet. Active Device You can choose a device from the menu list you want to record.
Active Sound In You can choose an equipment of the active device s own from the menu list to record.
Each equipment has its own properties of channels. You can adjust the properties of channels by Master, Left and Right slider controller if the properties are available.
Mixer Tab You can choose to display the Pass-Through equipments of an audio device. Also you can adjust the input volume if you want to compensate for the sound source being too loud or quiet. Show Device You can choose a device from the menu list you want to display.
Show Equipment You can choose an equipment of the active device s own from the menu list to display. Each equipment has its own properties of channels. You can adjust the properties of channels by Master, Left and Right slider controller if the properties are available.
