Click Help to display the Technical Support phone number and access a link to submit an issue ticket (opens a new window). Click the Pencil icon to edit the name of the course. To display Course Dates, Course Key, Registration URL, and the list of students enrolled in the course, click More Details. (See #6 below). Click the Launch Course button for the course you wish to access (opens a new window). Click Hide Details to close the Details section. Resources Click Resources to display a list of links to available resources. The list will vary based upon which part of the course you are viewing. 2 3 To view or download a resource, click on the resource title. Close the Resource panel by clicking on Resources in the header. The page count is displayed above the content. 6 Resources (continued) Family Newsletters 7 9 8 Select Family Newsletters in the Resources list to display the list of available newsletters. Click on the newsletter you want to view. The newsletter for that topic will be displayed (opens a new window). To distribute, select all of the text on the page and copy/paste it into your preferred word processor or email client. The newsletter can be automatically translated into another language using Google Translate. Click the Select Language button to display the list of languages that Google supports. 3 2 7 8 4 6 5 5 Navigating the Teacher s Edition Content Click on the items in the left navigation bar to access teacher content. Items with triangles navigate to sub topics. Click Back at the top of the navigation bar to return to the previous level in the navigation hierarchy. Click the National Geographic Learning logo to return to the Panorama Home page. Use the scroll bar on the right side to move up and down within the page. Use the left and right arrows beside the content to navigate between pages. Vocabulary Key Words are highlighted within the content. Click on the 4 arrow icon for full screen. Use the controls at the top of the page to navigate from page to page, download the file, and change the size of the displayed text. 2 3 4 Pop Up Content Videos Some links launch a video viewer in a pop up window. 5 6 Click the Play button to launch the video. Content Tools Click the Notes icon to write yourself a note for the displayed page and to access, edit or delete notes you have previously written for that page. 2 Click the Bookmarks icon to create a bookmark for the page you are on, to jump to a bookmarked page, or to delete a bookmark. Search Click on the magnifying glass in the header and enter your search text in the Search box. Click the gray magnifying glass on the right side of the Search box or press Enter to submit your search request. If you wish to limit your results list to Standards, Titles, or Books, click the All button and make your selection in the dropdown list. 3 2 The total number of results found will be displayed at the top of the Results page. Use the arrows to navigate between pages of results. If you wish to save your search criteria for future use, click the Save Search button. 0 8 9 Search (continued) Click the item s title to launch that item. If the content is in the Student Edition, it will open in a new window. Items that display an Assign button can be assigned from this screen. (See Assignments section for details.) Search results can be filtered by Standard, Book, and Title. To filter the results list, check/uncheck the appropriate boxes next to the criteria you wish to filter. When you have made your filter selections, click the Apply Filters button. 2 Standards Correlations Click Standards Correlations in the header. Click Select a Standards Set and choose the set you wish to use from the dropdown list. Click Select a Strand and choose the strand you wish to use in the dropdown list. 3 Updated: 5/08/208 4

The Code Description will refresh to reflect your selection. The total number of results found will be displayed at the top of the Results section. Use the arrows to navigate between pages of results. To change the number of results on a page, click on the arrow at the right side of the screen and make your selection in the dropdown. Assignments To navigate to the list of items that can be assigned, click on the Matrix icon and then select Assignments on the dropdown menu. A list of the Panorama course assignments will be displayed. 2 Use the arrow to the right of each section title to open and close the section. SPECIAL NOTE: The Splash Card must be assigned in order for students to see it in the Student Edition of the course. 3 4 6 5 Previewing an Assignment To preview an assignment, find the title in the Assignments list and click on it. A Preview page will open where you can review the item before assigning it. If the item you have chosen is a video, you can watch it on the Preview page. Click the Play button to launch the video. Use the controls that will appear below the video to play/pause, jump back 0 seconds, adjust the resolution (HD), turn on/off closed captions (CC), adjust the volume, view/download a transcript, and watch the video in full screen. Click on a menu item to preview it. 8 Use the arrows above the content to move from page to page within the content. 2 3 Assignments (continued) Scheduling an Assignment in Preview To schedule the item you are previewing, click the Assign button then enter the Start and Due dates and the number of times the students may attempt the assignment. Click the Save button. 7 6 4 5 The assignment details will be displayed at the top of the Preview page. To change the Start/Due dates or the number of allowed attempts, click the Edit button. To remove the assignment, click the Unassign button. Click Done to return to the Assignments page. Updated: 5/08/208 8
Assignments (continued) Scheduling Items on the Assignments Page On the Assignments page, select the check boxes for all of the items that you wish to assign to the same Start and Due date. 2 3 4 Click the Assign button (near the top of the page). Use the Edit button to change the dates and number of allowed attempts for individual assignments. The Unassign button can be used to remove the dates from individual assignments. Using the Gradebook Accessing the Gradebook Two Options To navigate to the Gradebook, click on the Matrix icon and then select Gradebook on the dropdown menu. 2 To navigate to the Gradebook from Assignments, you can click on the Gradebook tab near the top of the page. Updated: 5/08/208 2
7 2 3 5 6 4 Using the Gradebook (continued) The Gradebook Dashboard List of students registered for the course. Titles of the course items that have been assigned. The system will calculate the class average for you. Use the scrollbar at the bottom of the student list to view additional assignments. The student names will remain visible. Grades for completed assignments will display as either points or as a percentage. (See #7.) A dash indicates assignments that have not yet been completed. Scores can be displayed as points or percentages. Click Display Settings to open a pop up and make your selection. Updated: 5/08/208 22
Using the Gradebook (continued) Viewing Grades Once a student s test has been completed, you can view the test by clicking on the score. 2 A pop up window will display each of the student s attempts at this assignment, the date each attempt was completed, and each of the scores received. Click on any question to view the student s response to that question. 7 8 Scroll through the test questions using the arrows near the top of the window. Using the Gradebook (continued) Viewing Grades (continued) To see all of the scores for a specific student, click on the student s name in the Gradebook. 9 3 The student score summary page displays the due date, the score, and the number of attempts for each assignment. Items that have not yet been completed are indicated with dashes in the Score and Attempts columns. If you wish to view the student s test, click on the score. (See Viewing Grades above.) Vocabulary Notebook To access the Vocabulary Notebook, click on the Matrix icon and then select Vocabulary Notebook on the dropdown menu. On the Classroom Word List screen, click Select a Student and then click on a student s name in the dropdown list. 2 Updated: 5/08/208 26
3 4 Vocabulary Notebook (continued) The list of words that the student has added to their Vocabulary Notebook is displayed. Click on a vocabulary word to view the entry the student has made in their Vocabulary Notebook. 5 9 The information that the student has entered for that vocabulary word is displayed. To hear the word pronounced, click the Speaker icon. 7 6 8 8 To view another vocabulary entry for this student, click on the word in the vocabulary list. Use the arrows on either side of the vocabulary window to navigate to the next or previous student s vocabulary list. 2 Launch Student Edition To view the Student Edition of the course, click the Matrix icon and then select Launch Student Edition on the dropdown menu. The Student Edition can also be launched from within the teacher s course content by clicking the Book icon. 3 The Student Edition of the course will open in a new window.
