Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Data Infrastructure Structured Cabling The new network designs will support a 10GHZ backbone over multi-mode fiber and up to 1G over Category 6 to the desktop. The current category 3, 5 and 5E will be replaced. Multipair Category 5e riser cable shall be provided from the MDF of each school to their respective IDFs. Three pairs (6 strands) of multi-mode fiber will be provided from the MDF to each IDF. Category 6 cabling will be provided for data, voice, CCTV, and wireless access points (two data drops at each wireless access point location in the ceilings). Wireless access point outlet placements are intended to provide the capability for complete wireless coverage throughout the school. Each teacher location will be wired with two data ports. Two data ports will be provided in the back of each classroom, and Category 6 cabling shall be provided for a wall phone near the doorway.
Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Data Infrastructure Network electronics (switches) shall be furnished and installed. The switches shall be by HP, and voted proprietary. Network Switches Wireless Access Points Wireless access points, and a controller if applicable, will be provided, one access point in each classroom, and three in each large group space. Office suites shall have an access point. Wireless access points shall include a perpetual license, and not require yearly subscriptions to operate. Outdoor wireless coverage shall be provided near car charging stations and near outdoor gathering spaces with building-mounted wireless access point devices.
Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Phone System The phone system and handsets shall be provided and installed by the owner. The building shall be cabled to support a hybrid phone system, for voiceover IP phones and analog/ digital phones in classrooms. The Cat5e riser cable shall be utilized for the analog/digital handsets. Cross connections from patch panels to the Cat5e termination blocks shall be provided by the owner s phone contractor. Video and Audio Presentation Video and audio presentation equipment (wall mounted wide format interactive ultrashort throw projector, voice lift system with microphones and amplifier, and up to 4 ceiling speakers) will be permanently installed in classrooms. The PC/laptop in each classroom and any technology carts shall be provided by the owner. A presentation camera will be provided in each interactive classroom. Conference rooms and maker spaces shall have interactive projectors as detailed above. A high lumen projector (min 10k) shall be permanently mounted in each auditorium/cafetorium space. A sound system in each space shall be provided. A portable sound system with wireless microphones shall be provided in each Gym.
Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Public Address System Administration Emergency Communication A public address system shall be provided in each school. New wiring shall be provided, and talk back speakers shall be provided in each classroom as a second means of communication with the front office. A call button for initiating an emergency call to the front office shall be provided in each classroom, typically in the blind space of each classroom. Analog clocks synchronized with a master clock, either wired or wireless, shall be provided in every classroom and conference room, and where designated on the drawings. The PA system shall be integrated with the owner-provided phone system to allow the use of the phone system for paging within the building. The security system shall be used to trigger an automated PA message during emergencies. No video distribution system shall be provided. Video distribution is not in use now, nor is it anticipated to be used in the future.
Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Security An enterprise class access control system, to include panic buttons and door contacts, shall be provided. One system shall be provided to serve the three elementary schools, with expansion capabilities to serve other schools if desired. Printable RFID cards for staff shall be provided. An enrollment station shall be provided. An intrusion detection system and related components shall be provided at each school. Every first floor room with a window shall have a motion sensor. Motion sensors shall also be placed within the hallways and in vestibules. All door contacts shall be wired to both access control and the intrusion detection system.
Watertown Elementary Schools Technology Design Summary Security CCTV integrated with access control Indoor and outdoor monitoring An indoor/outdoor CCTV system (IP based) will be provided. The system shall be an enterprise class VMS system with mobile device support. It will integrate with the access control system. Camera coverage shall include hallways, stairwells, building perimeter, entrances, and common use spaces outdoors (such as bus loops) to include parking. Other areas, such as the gym, auditorium, café, and admin area shall be included. The system shall be sized to provide 30 days of record on motion worth of storage, assuming 8 hours motion at 7fps with 1080 resolution. Parking shall only be covered by building-mounted cameras where feasible. No pole-mounted cameras shall be provided.
