WELCOME We are so glad that you have chosen to participate in the 2018 WINK Feeds Families Hunger Walk. We offer these tips to assist you in your efforts to gather donations and pledges to support the Harry Chapin Food Bank. As a participant, you receive your very own personal fundraising page. This is your place; your space to upload images and videos, and express why you are participating as well as your goals. The following instructions provide a complete guide, helping to get you all the way through the event, and after, with success. LOG INTO THE ACCOUNT PROFILE Upon registration, you will be asked to create a unique username and password. With this information, you will be able to log into your Participant Control Panel (PCP). The PCP is accessed from the event registration website where you regis-

There is a new field at the bottom of the registration form, Optional Pledge. If you wish to make a pledge at the time you register, you can enter an amount here. You will be prompted on the next screen to complete the pledge process. This is not a mandatory field. Sample of bottom half of page

CREATE YOUR PERSONAL FUNDRAISING PAGE If you chose to make an optional pledge, your instructions will appear at the top of the page. Now is the time to customize your personal and/or team fundraising page. Just click on the Personalize button. This is where you will enter your individual and/or team goal and personalize your fundraising page

STATEMENT Enter the text for your personal fundraising page statement here. This is your plea for support, so make it compelling. We hope that this space provides an opportunity for you to share important information in a way that creates excitement about your cause and goals. To change the text for your Team Page, click on the Team page tab and Statement and make your statement asking for support for the team.

SET YOUR GOAL Enter the dollar amount you wish to set as your personal Fundraising Goal. Your personal thermometer will rise as you reach this goal, so be sure to make a reasonable goal that you can achieve. As a Team Captain, you will need to set your personal information first, then set the team goal. Please note that setting a personal/team goal is not setting a pledge/payment towards funding the Hunger Walk. The goal and pledge/donations are two separate tabs, we would like to emphasize after you set a personal/team goal, please remember to also make a pledge/donation to yourself or a team to help raise funds for the Walk.

SET YOUR TEAM GOAL Enter the dollar amount you wish to set as your TEAM S Fundraising Goal. Your team s thermometer will rise as you reach this goal, so be sure to make a reasonable goal that can be achieved.

DONATIONS The Donation Report is designed for you to review your donations and enter donations or pledges that you receive off-line. This is for entering pledges you receive from your supporters that are NOT going to register to participate in the Walk. Entering pledges on this page causes your personal fundraising thermometer to rise and reflect how close you are to meeting your overall fundraising goal. Click on Enter personal donations and you will be taken to your fundraising website where you can enter donations in administrative mode. You may also click on Find Team or Find an Individual and make a donation there by clicking on the Action tab to the right and clicking on $ Donate Now. Select a donation from the Donation Report and you can send an email thank you to the donor. While the system will send an auto-generated thank you to each donor, it is always nice to receive a more personalized reply. To send a personalized thank you note to a donor or group of donors, check the donor and click on the Email Thanks button.

PICTURES You may upload any combination of four pictures and videos which will appear on your website. Images will be resized to 415x300. All standard image formats are supported. Images should be in a horizontal/landscape orientation. After saving changes, click on View your personal webpage to review. VIDEOS You may upload any combination of four pictures and videos which will appear on your website. All video uploads must first be posted to YouTube. Then provide the YouTube Video ID for the video here. The video ID is the 11 character unique identifier for the video. If your video URL is: http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=jebj9itytje, then the video ID is jebj9itytje. After saving changes, click on View your personal webpage to review. The same instructions apply for adding pictures and videos to the Team Page. Just be sure to click on the Team Page first.

THANK YOU MESSAGE This is the area where you can customize the system s thank you message to your donors. Enter the content you want to include in your donors' receipts and hit Save.

EMAIL Email Friends This section is where you will write and send a personalized email message to your friends, family and co-workers telling them about your cause. Your heartfelt appeal in asking them to make a pledge can have a real impact in meeting your fundraising goal. By clicking on Import from my address book, you can import your address book from your Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, or Outlook account. Alternately, enter the email addresses for those that you wish to send your personal website. Enter one email address per line, using this method. Enter your Subject and customize your message in the next two fields and hit Send.

Make a Pledge To enter a pledge for yourself or any other registered walker, click on the Pledge tab on the Home Page. It will bring you

Order Confirmation Once a pledge has been completed, the Order Confirmation page will appear. The Order number, in the upper left of the page, needs to be included with any payments sent in. This assures that the payment will be applied to the correct pledge.

MY ACCOUNT Update Profile In this area you can easily change your profile or contact information, including your mailing address, Email address and phone numbers. Keep this information current so that your event administrator can stay in contact with you throughout your event. You may also update your account username and password here. Click on save when you are finished updating your information. Sharing Your personal fundraising page includes social media sharing tools in the footer. You can share your personal fundraising page or other website pages with friends and family using your favorite social media tools, as outlined here. In addition, four fundraising widgets are available. To add a personalized fundraising widget to any website or blog on the internet, just copy and paste the sample HTML code provided into your web page editor. FUNCTIONS FOR TEAM CAPTAINS Team captains will have the ability to configure a team fundraising page and manage team donations from their PCP (Personal Control Panel). Only team captains (and not team members) will see a tab for Team Page. Here is where the team fundraising page is configured. This team fundraising page includes team pictures or videos, a team mission statement, and thermometer which is different from the captain settings. From the Email tab, there is a submenu for Team. Here captains can email potential donors on behalf of the team. These functions work in the same way as described above for personal settings. GATHERING DONATIONS & PLEDGES Now that you are registered and have built your personal webpage it is time to start gathering pledges. Email friends and family with a link to your webpage. Ask neighbors and people in your community. Let people see your excitement. People love to support causes, especially when they can see how much it means to you. For many fundraisers, it can be difficult to ask personal friends, family members and acquaintances for financial support. Start with those you know will be willing to support you and use this to build momentum. It s always easier to hear a no after you have hearing yes a few times. Here is a list of common members of our community to consider asking. Remember that schoolteachers may or may not be able to support each and every student, and therefore, may not be able to pledge. Also, some employers have policies against soliciting donations or selling items during working hours. This usually means that it is okay to ask, but just not while working. Use your best judgment, check and follow whatever policies are in place in your particular situation. Mom and/or Dad Grandparents Adult sisters and brothers Aunts and uncles Adult cousins Neighbors Family friends Close friends of your extended family (i.e. Grandma s best friend) Coaches and extracurricular activity leaders Bosses and co-workers Families you work for (i.e. babysitting or lawn mowing) Your favorite teacher from a previous school year Businesses with whom you do frequent business Hair stylist Tutors Babysitters Some people are more familiar with using the Internet than others. Keep copies of offline pledge forms with you for those who would prefer to pledge offline. You can then go into your participant site and enter their pledge for them! This way the funds you have raised will post toward your totals, and accurately show the progress, you have made toward your goal. If you need offline pledge forms, please ask via the contact information at the end of this document.
