1 Impor tant safety information Assembly, installation and servicing must be carried out by an authorised electrician. Check the system for short circuits in the coaxial cables before starting up. Beware of short circuits! No liability is accepted for any damage caused by faulty connections or inappropriate handling. Observe the relevant standards, regulations and guidelines on the installation and operation of antenna systems. Do not perform installation and service work during thunderstorms. The supplied AC/DC power adapter must be used to power this product. If the power cord becomes damaged, it must be replaced. Always refer to qualified personnel. When disconnecting the product don t pull the cable but the plug to prevent damage of the cable. The product shall be serviced by qualified experts only. For a complete disconnection from the mains, the AC/DC power adapter must be pulled out of the mains socket. Ensure that the AC/DC power adapter can be pulled out without difficulties. This product is for indoor use in moderate climates only. In case of the formation of condensation wait until the device is completely dried. Never expose the device to liquids or splashing water. Do not place any vessels containing liquids on the device. Do not place anything on the device which could initiate fires (e.g. candles). Do not place heavy objects on the unit. Do not place the unit near heat sources, in the sun, in strong mechanical vibrations or in dusty environments. Please install the device in a ventilated environment. This product contains a Lithium-Ion accumulator pack (UN3481). If the accumulator is not handled properly there is a risk of fire and burns. WARNING There is a risk of explosion if the wrong accumulator is used. To reduce the risk of fire or burns, do not disassemble, destroy, puncture, short-circuit, expose the battery to temperatures in excess of 40 C, or throw it in fire or water. Replace the accumulator pack only with an original spare part. Observe the polarity. The charging time should be at least 8 hours for the first time and not more than 12 hours after the first time. If stored for a long time, charge the accumulator at least once a month to avoid deep discharge. Use only the original charger. Recycle or dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations or the instructions enclosed with your product. Electronic devices should never be disposed of in the household rubbish. In accordance with directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and the European Council from January 27, 2003 which addresses old electronic and electrical devices, such devices must be disposed of at a designated collection facility. At the end of its service life, please take your device to one of these public collection facilities for proper disposal. - 3 - ME 200

2 Description ME 200 is a simple digital satellite instrument for DVB-S/S2. - Spectrum analyzer with level measurement (dbµv or dbm). - Constellation diagram with C/N, BER, FEC, MER and Modulation display. - Digital compass - Angle calculation (azimuth and elevation) - You can search for transponders in the FIND menu. The picture can be displayed on a TV set via the HDTV output. This allows it to be used as a satellite receiver/media player. - TV Playback - Recording, timer recording and time-shift with USB memory connected. - Playback of media content stored on USB storage media. Music, photos, movies and PVR recordings. - 4 - ME 200

4 Operation 4.1 B a s ic O p e r at i o n 18 to navigate through the menus. Use buttons Use button OK 18 to activate menu items respectively confirm inputs. Press the "EXIT" button 16 to exit a menu or close an overlay switch to TV mode from the main menu. In TV mode, you can use the AV button 13 to switch between the satellite receiver and AV input, OK calls up the channel table. To return to the main menu, press the MENU button 15. 9 are used. Activate SETTING in the main menu. The SETTING menu is used to access the submenus Device Setup, Time, System, Option and Picture. -7- ME 200

Device Setup Switch on/off the (keyboard) Lighting, the Loudspeaker, the Keypad Tone, the LED Display 14 as well as Cable Check. The Cable Check function checks the current of the signal cable to identify/distinguish a multiswitch or LNB. Time Here you can select automatic or manual time setting. System > The menu items Parental Guidance, Set Password and Restore Factory Default are password protected. In the menu item Parental Guidance you can set the age limit above which the playback of a program is password-protected. In the menu item Set Password you can change the password 000000 set in the factory. > If you change the factory default password, make a good note of the new password! If you forget it, the device must be sent to us to reset the password. - 8 - ME 200

In the menu item Restore Factory Default you can reset the device to the factory settings. Menu item Information shows the current software version. Option In the OSD Language menu item, set the language displayed in the menus. In the Subtitle Language menu item, select the preferred language. You can only use this function if the channel transmits multilingual subtitles. If the program transmits subtitles for only one language, this menu item has no function. With button SUBT on the remote control, switch the subtitles off (setting Off) or on (select the appropriate language). In the menu item Audio language, set the desired language if several audio carriers are to be transmitted. In the menu item Unit you set how the level values are to be displayed in the SPECTRUM menu - dbµv or dbm. In the Timer Off menu, you set a timer that reminds you to switch off the device. When the timer expires, a beep sounds. Picture In this menu, you can set the Aspect Ratio, Resolution, and TV Format for picture output. - 9 - ME 200

4.3 Upgr ade / Backup Software updates as well as backups and restores are possible via the UPGRADE menu. Soft ware Update USB Upgr ade Copy the upgrade file (*.bin) into the root directory of a USB stick and plug it into the USB port of the ME200. Activate USB Upgrade (OK button). The root directory is read. Select the desired upgrade file and press the OK button. The unit switches off. > The USB stick must remain plugged in! Turn the device on. The upgrade is performed. The device switches off. > The USB stick can now be removed. Turn the device on. > You can check the software version in the Setup > System > Information menu. - 10 - ME 200

Backup and Restore In the menu Software Update > DB Management you can backup all settings as well as restore the settings. Backup Insert a USB stick into the USB socket of the ME200. Select the menu item Backup to USB. The backup file (*.DBM) is stored in the root directory of an inserted USB stick. Restore Insert the USB stick on which the backup is stored into the USB socket of the ME200. Select the menu item Load from USB. Select the desired backup file (*.DBM) and press the OK button. - 11 - ME 200

4.4 M easuring Instrument The SATELLITE and FINDING menus are available for measurements. SATELLITE The SATELLITE menu provides access to the SPECTRUM, SAT SETUP, COMPASS, ANGLE CALCULATION and CONSTELLATION submenus. SPECTRUM Use the buttons to move the cursor line to the frequency whose level is to be displayed. > Level in dbµv or dbm (Setup > Option > Unit) Use the buttons to move the spectrum vertically. Use button to limit the display area from the cursor line on (zoom). - 12 - ME 200

Use button to change the sampling frequency. Press to pause the measuring process. Use button 1 to select a DiSEqC signal (N=off, position 1...4). Use button 2 to switch the 22kHz signal on/off. Use button 3 to switch the polarity (13V/18V). Press the OK key to start a search on the frequency of the cursor line with a choice between Ku- and C-band. A new satellite is created in the satellite list (satellite setup). SAT SETUP Use buttons to select a satellite. Use button to activates the LNB setup for the selected satellite. Button GOTO shows the transponder list of the satellite and switches back to the satellite list. Use button OK to activates a satellite or transponder - depending on the list. Use button to add a new satellite. Use button to edit the settings for a satellite. Use button removes a satellite from the list<. Use button to start a channel search via the activated satellites/transponders (Scan). > Scan-Modes: Preset, Blind Scan, Network (NIT). "All" or "only unscrambled" channels "All", Digital TV or Radio - 13 - ME 200

ANGLE CALCUL ATION In the ANGLE CALCULATION menu, you can calculate the azimuth (degree indication for alignment with a compass) and elevation (inclination) depending on your position for a satellite. Enter the correct degrees of longitude and latitude of your location. Buttons select a satellite. COMPASS The compass helps you to align a satellite antenna. Therefore the device must be operated in a horizontal position. > First enter the correct degrees of longitude and latitude of your location in the ANGLE CALCULATION menu. Then calibrate the compass. button starts calibration. Rotate the device as shown on the screen. Buttons select a satellite. > The red marked compass area indicates the direction to the satellite in case of deviation. - 14 - ME 200

CONSTELL ATION Here you can first select between Analyze by Frequency (selection via satellite and transponder) or Analyze by Program (selection of stored channels). Analyze by Frequency Via Analyze by Frequency you can select the satellite and the transponder number. Use the buttons to switch through/ select the transponders in the Constellation menu. The constellation diagram, quality and level in %, as well as C/N, BER, FEC, MER and the kind of modulation are displayed. Analyze by Program The last channel set is analyzed via Analyze by Program. You can then use the buttons to switch through/select the channels in the Constellation menu. FINDING The menu starts with the last used channel. You can set any satellite/transponder with the buttons. Press the OK button to display selection options in tabular form. > If an unlocked signal is detected, only the signal strength is displayed. When the signal is locked, a signal sounds and all values are displayed. The beep can be muted by pressing the Mute button on the remote control. The Compass display shows the direction in which the antenna connection points when the instrument is horizontal. Use the OK button in the "Search" line to start a channel search for the set transponder. Channels found are stored in the channels table. - 16 - ME 200

4.5 Satellite Receiver M enu Progr a m The PROGRAM menu contains the settings for the satellite receiver. Channel table The Program Edit menu item contains a table with all channels found in the SAT SETUP (Scan function) and FINDING (Search function) menus. Using buttons you can select a channel. Using button OK you can activate a channel. With button you can sort the order of the channels. Select a channel > press > enter/select the desired channel position (buttons 0-9 / ) and press OK. With key you can skip a channel position when selecting a programme with keys. With button you can lock a channel position (unlock via password). Press button to delete a channel from the list. The RECALL button allows you to rename a channel using an on-screen keyboard. Use the FAV button to assign a channel to a Favourites list. > When you exit the menu (EXIT), all changes are saved automatically. - 17 - ME 200

EPG - Electronic Progr a m Guide Via the menu item EPG you call up the Electronic Program Guide, which displays the program contents of the activated channel in a table. Use buttons to call up other channels. You can search the list line by line with buttons. Use the OK or INFO buttons to open the Timer menu. Timer In the Timer menu you can create new timers, edit existing timers or delete them. Use button to create a new timer (Event). Here you can make all settings which are necessary for a timer programming. In Line Mode you can set whether you only want to view the channel (View) or whether a PVR recording should be made (Record). > For recording, an external storage device must be plugged into the USB socket. PVR: Personal Video Recorder - 18 - ME 200

Press the OK button to save the timer. Use button to edit an already programmed timer. Use the button to delete a timer. For the timer function, the device must remain switched on. Sort In the Sort menu, you can specify the order of the channels according to certain criteria (Default - channel table, By Encrypt, By Freq, By Service Name). TV oper ation Press the EXIT button to switch to TV mode from the main menu. Using button OK you call up the channel table. > To return to the main menu, press the MENU button. Start Direct Recording While you are watching a channel, you can start a direct recording with button and stop with button. To play back recordings, switch to the MULTIMEDIA menu. All recordings are listed under the menu item PVR (Personal Video Recorder; page 23). Start Time-shift Recording While watching a programme, press button Press key to start time-shifted playback. to start a time-shift recording. > The time offset is displayed. > You can set the memory size for time-shift recordings - and thus the time that can be bridged - in the Configure PVR menu (page 21). 4.6 MULTIMEDIA The MULTIMEDIA menu allows you to play back media content stored on a USB memory device and connected to the USB port, as well as TV programs recorded with the ME200 (PVR = personal video recorder). When you call up the MULTIMEDIA button of the MAIN MENU, the USB menu is displayed first. USB menu Here you can call up setting options for photo, film and PVR playback. The MULTIMEDIA selection takes you to the MULTIMEDIA menu. Photo Configur ation Set the slide time, slide mode, and aspect ratio for slide show playback. - 20 - ME 200

Movie Configur ation Here you can set how subtitles should be displayed. PVR Configur ation Here you can make settings for a USB storage medium on which the TV channel is to be recorded. In the Record Device menu for partitioned storage media, select the drive on which the recordings are to be stored. The Time-shift Size determines the maximum storage space available for a timeshift recording - and thus the maximum time that can be bridged with time-shift. approx. 10 minutes/1 GB In the Format menu, you can format the drive for the recordings accordingly Select the File System (FAT32/NTFS). Select the USB drive and start the formatting with button OK. Attention! All contents will be deleted! In addition, the free / total storage space is displayed. - 21 - ME 200

Music Start the music browser with the button. Use the, and OK buttons to navigate through the folder structure of the storage medium. Use the RECALL button to return to a higher level in the folder structure. If music files (MP3, wma, ogg) are found in a directory, you can select them and press the OK button to start playback. Photo Start the photo browser with the button. Use the, and OK buttons to navigate through the folder structure of the storage medium. Use the RECALL button to return to a higher level in the folder structure. If photo files (bmp, jpg, png) are found in a directory, you can select them and use the OK button to display the photo. Use the button to display an overview of the photos. Press button to start a slideshow. - 22 - ME 200

Film Start the film browser with the button. Use the, and OK buttons to navigate through the folder structure of the storage medium. Use the RECALL button to return to a higher level in the folder structure. If video files (MP4, avi, 3gp) are found in a directory, you can select them and press the OK button to start playback in preview mode. If the video has already been started once, you will be asked whether you want to resume playback (StartResume) or restart playback (Exit). Press button to toggle between preview and full screen. PVR (Personal Video Recorder) Start the browser for the TV broadcasts recorded with the ME200 with the button. Use the, and OK buttons to navigate through the folder structure of the storage medium. Use the RECALL button to return to a higher level in the folder structure. The recordings are stored in the HBPVR directory. Select this directory and press the OK button. All recordings are displayed. Press the OK button to start playback in preview mode. If the video has already been started once, you will be asked whether you want to resume playback (StartResume) or restart playback (Exit). Press button to toggle between preview and full screen. Use the button to delete a recording. Use button to rename a recording. - 23 - ME 200
