INTRODUCTION This quick installation guide contains the instructions for installing and using the main functions of the 1090/669 four channel video server. Refer to the complete manual on CD-ROM for additional information on the device and for all other functions. MATERIAL INCLUDED 1 URMET CD-ROM with manual and installation software. 1 dedicated power unit. 1 power cord with European plug. 1 direct network cable (CAT 5, UTP, grey RJ-45 connectors) for connecting to network peripherals (router, switch, hub, etc). 1 crossed network cable (CAT 5, UTP, blue RJ-45 connectors) for direct connection to PC. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS PC requirements CPU Minimum Pentium - 200 MHz. RAM Minimum 64 MB. HDD Minimum 10 MB of free space. LAN Minimum 10 Mbps. OS Windows 98/NT/2000/XP/2003. Audio board (for audio functions). Browser Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Required products At least one analogue camera. CCTV monitor (for local viewing). INSTALLATION OF THE 1090/669 DEVICE 1. Connect the 1090/669 device to the analogue cameras with the video wires. Plug into the BNC CH1 socket if only one camera is used. If several cameras are used, plug into the BNC sockets in the following order: CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4. 2. Connect the network cable (direct or crossed) to the network port on the rear panel of the device. 3. Plug the dedicate power unit cable into the respective 12V input on the rear panel of the device. 4. The red POWER LED on the front of the device will light up after connecting the device to the power mains. The red LED will remain on if the unit is correctly powered. 5. The yellow LINK LED will blink for 5 seconds and light up steady if the cameras and network cable are correctly connected. Otherwise, check connections. 6. Plug external monitors, where applicable, into the VIDEO OUT socket on the device. The frames shot by the cameras can be displayed if the monitor is on and correctly connected. To select the video channel to be monitored, press the channel selection button on the front panel of the device. Hold the buttons pressed for a few seconds to display the channels in sequence. Quick terminal board: sensor, relay and PTZ connections The quick terminal board consists of 24 terminals for connecting devices such as MIC, PTZ and RELAY for example. The terminal board can be extracted from the product for easier system installation. SOFTWARE SET-UP 1. Insert the set-up CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. 2. Software set-up should start up automatically. If this does not occur, browse the CD-ROM contents and select AUTORUN.EXE. 3. The following screen will appear. 4. Click on NEXT to continue installing the program. 5. The following programs will be installed: Urmet 4 Ch Viewer, Player and Admin Tool. 6. You may need to re-boot the PC to complete installation. 7. Wait for the following message to appear and select OK. 6 DS1090-150

CONFIGURATION OF THE 1090/669 DEVICE 1. After connecting the 1090/669 device to the PC, click on the icon below on the desktop to open the Admin Tool configuration tool. 2. Select LAN to configure the local area network. Refer to the software manual on the CD-ROM for configuring the WAN. The following dialogs will appear. 3. Select the SCAN button. The List Box will show all the devices connected to the local network. LBT7850 7

4. Select the device to be configured in the List Box and click on the CONNECT button. 5. Type in Admin ID (default: root) and Password (default: root) to access the configuration menu. Then select the LOGIN button. Important note Select the Connectionless option if the IP address of the device to be connected does not belong to the same sub network of the PC. 8 DS1090-150

6. Click on the NETWORK button to edit network settings. Camera ID Enter the name of the camera. Chose any name. Broadband Type Select the connection type. Fixed IP For use with fixed IP. Cable Modem/DHCP For use with dynamic IP assigned by a DHCP server or Internet Service Provider (Internet connection via PSTN modem). ADSL/PPPoE For use in ADSL or PPPoE systems. 7. Enter the correct installation data. IP Address Enter the IP address of the device. Subnet Mask Enter the local area network mask. Gateway Enter the Gateway IP address. Important note Be very careful when entering IP addresses. You may need to reset the default settings if you make a mistake (refer to the HARDWARE CONNECTION GUIDE for the reset procedure). 8. Click on APPLY to save all the changes to the 1090/669. The device will start up again automatically. Description of buttons Firmware Save Config. Flicker LED Reset Preview Apply Runs file*.cod for upgrading the firmware Saves the 1090/669 device configuration to the PC Makes the yellow LINK LED flicker to indicate which of the connected devices is being configured Resets the 1090/669 device Runs the connection test for displaying the images transmitted by the cameras Saves the changes made to the 1090/669 device CONNECTION TEST Run the connection test after completing 1090/669 device configuration. 1. Repeat steps from 1 to 5 above to reconnect the device. 2. Press PREVIEW to display the images transmitted by the cameras. 10 DS1090-150

3. The installation procedure is over if the image is displayed correctly. The green LAN LED will blink constantly. 4. At the end of the connection test, press the DISCONNECT button to shut the connection down. 5. The 1090/669 is now ready to transmit images to the network. To view the transmitted images, you can use the Internet Explorer browser or an Urmet 4 Ch Viewer program for complete functions. CONNECTING TO THE DEVICE USING A INTERNET EXPLORER BROWSER IMPORTANT: You will be asked to download and install the plug-in needed to decode the transmitted images the first time you attempt to the connect the 1090/669 Internet Explorer via browser. For this reason, the PC used for the connection must have an Internet access. Open Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the device to connect in the URL bar (e.g. http://192.168.32.203). If the plug-in installation request appears, press OK and wait for the html page to finish loading. LBT7850 11

Enter a valid username and password to establish a video connection (default "guest" - "guest") and press Connect. After the device is connected, use the control on the Web page to select a single channel to display and set the monitoring sequence. Important note For correct display using a browser, the device must have three network enabled logical ports: the HTTP port (default 80 ) and the ports used for audio/video connection (default 700 and 701 ). See chapter 8.3 in LBT7897 ADMIN TOOL manual for how to configure the 80 port on the device. Always check network configurations if the connection cannot be established.
