It covers basic topics such as using the keyboard and audio, etc. This guide contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting. 4 Your Acer notebook tour Your Acer notebook tour After setting up your computer as illustrated in the Setup Guide, let us show you around your new Acer computer. A light next to the webcam indicates that the webcam is active. 2 Touchscreen Displays computer output, supports multitouch input. 3 Windows key Tap to return to the Start screen, or to the last open app. 4 Microphones Internal stereo microphones for sound recording. 5 Power indicator Battery indicator Indicates the computer s power status. Indicates battery status. Charging: The light is amber when the battery is charging. Fully charged: The light is blue.

Press down firmly on the touchpad surface to perform a left click. Press down firmly on the lower right corner to perform a right click. For entering data into your computer. See "Using the keyboard" on page 9. Caution: Do not use a keyboard protector or similar cover as the keyboard includes ventilation intakes for cooling.

Note: There are different cables available. Please check with your retailer to see which are compatible with your computer. Supports high-definition digital video connections. Connect to USB devices. 4 Headset/speaker jack Connects to audio devices (e.g., speakers, headphones) or a headset with microphone. 5 Speaker Delivers stereo audio output. Information on USB 3.0 USB 3.0 compatible ports are blue. Compatible with USB 3.0 and earlier devices. For optimal performance, use USB 3.0-certified devices. Defined by the USB 3.0 specification (SuperSpeed USB).

Only one card can operate at any given time. 3 USB port Connects to USB devices. 4 Volume control key Adjusts the system volume. 5 Power button Turns the computer on and off. 6 DC-in jack Connects to an AC adapter. 7 Kensington lock slot Connects to a Kensington-compatible computer security lock. Wrap the computer security lock cable around an immovable object such as a table or handle of a locked drawer. Insert the lock into the notch and turn the key to secure the lock. Keyless models are also available.

Do not cover or obstruct the openings. 2 Speakers Deliver stereo audio output. 3 Battery reset pinhole Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds to reset the computer (simulates removing and reinstalling the battery).

9 Using the keyboard The keyboard has full-sized keys and an embedded numeric keypad, separate cursor, lock, Windows, function and special keys. Hotkeys The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output. To activate hotkeys, press and hold the <Fn> key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination. Hotkey Icon Function Description <Fn> + <F3> Airplane mode Turns on / off the computer's network devices. (Network devices vary by configuration.) <Fn> + <F4> Sleep Puts the computer in Sleep mode. <Fn> + <F5> <Fn> + <F6> <Fn> + <F7> Display toggle Display off Touchpad toggle Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both. Turns the display screen backlight off to save power. Press any key to return. Turns the built-in touchpad on and off. <Fn> + <F8> Speaker toggle Turns the speakers on and off. <Fn> + <F9> Keyboard backlight Turns the keyboard backlight on and off. Also adjusts the backlight brightness. <Fn> + <F10> Keyboard toggle Turns the keyboard on and off. <Fn> + <F11> NumLk Turns the embedded numeric keypad on or off. <Fn> + < > Brightness up Increases the screen brightness. <Fn> + < > Brightness down Decreases the screen brightness. <Fn> + < > Volume up Increases the sound volume.

10 Using the keyboard Hotkey Icon Function Description <Fn> + < > Volume down Decreases the sound volume. <Fn> + <Home> Play/Pause Play or pause a selected media file. <Fn> + <Pg Up> <Fn> + <Pg Dn> Stop Previous Stop playing the selected media file. Return to the previous media file. <Fn> + <End> Next Jump to the next media file. Ver.: 01.01.01
