INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your purchase of your new pre amplifier-equalizer. Our sonic excellence is considered our most important objective. Your selection of this component tells us you desire to achieve the same goal. Welcome to the rapidly expanding group of discerning audiophiles who rely upon our products. This manual has been prepared to help you maximize your enjoyment of the outstanding performance and multiple advanced features of this unit. To fully realize the exceptional performance this product is capable of, it is necessary that all signal sources, amplifiers, and speakers are of the highest quality. EQUALIZER BACKGROUND There are basically three types of equalizers: graphic, parametric, and a hybrid of these two, often referred to as para-graphic. Additionally, there are passive equalizers, which have no gain, active gain pre-amps, which have a again stage usually with a volume control, and booster equalizers which we won't consider here since they are inferior passive equalizers with inexpensive IC amplifier built-in. FEATURES The subwoofer output is an additional convenience when you wish to add subwoofers to your audio system to greatly enrich the bass sound. It will perform with any unit operating in a 12 volt negative ground electrical system. 5 Band Equalizer with Subwoofer Output PRE-AMP Line Driver Front/Rear Outputs with Fader Control Subwoofer Frequency Adjustable 40Hz -120Hz Separate Subwoofer Frequency and Level Controls Center-Detented Boost/Cut Controls for Each Band RADIO/CD Input selector Nickel Plating RCA Input and Output Connectors Independent L & R Input Gain Adjustments Night Illumination Design As in state-of-the-art home audio systems the optimum system requires a dedicated pre-amp with enormous gain to drive the various power amplifiers. Since home audio amplifiers do not have adjustable sensitivity, the require a high output pre amplifier to drive them to maximum levels. This unit is the first production pre amplifier to incorporate a specific bandwidth parametric equalizer with 12dB boost or cut on its seven bands, it can compensate for the seven acoustic anomalies unique to the automotive environment. This unit easily becomes the "Mission control Center" of any high end automotive sound system. -1- -2-

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CROSSOVER CONTROL RADIO/CASSETTE CD CHANGER One of the best features of this unit is that it allows the listener to adjust each band exactly to his own satisfaction, so please note that the correct settings depend very much on the overall system itself and the individual musical taste of the listener. Please check the settings for each band carefully before completing the installation. SYSTEM TURN ON: After completing all wiring and signal connections you can now turn the system on. GND REM +12V AMP ADJUST: Raise volume of the unit to maximum. Adjust left and right input gains of the unit until half way between minimum and maximum. Gradually increase source volume until clip. Begin gradually increasing input gains until distortion is audible, then reduce slightly, System should be extremely load at this point. Turn the volume control down to minimum and back up to comfortable level. Volume changes should sound linear and balanced. SUBWOOFER REAR FRONT NOTES: Set your source volume at one -half to three quarter up and leave it. Always use your volume as a master(main) volume control. It has better electronics, higher S/N ratio and is more linear than any source unit volume available. If engine noise is audible, try raising the volume on the source unit, and/or check the ground connection on the unit. -5- -6-
MECHANICAL INSTALLATION 1. Select the location to mount the unit under the dash board. 2. Drill (4) 4 mm diameter holes. Fix the mounting bracket to the location with (4) 4 x 15 mm tapping screw. Be careful when drilling so as not to damage existing wiring under the dash board. 3. Mount unit to the mounting bracket with (4) 3 x 6 mm machine screws. Bracket can be reversed for, installer s individual needs. We suggest securing to surface with a #8 metal screw. Surface mounting bracket. Adjustable slots for screws. Secure the bracket to the with the two 4mm x 15mm screws provided. SPECIFICATIONS Adjustable slots for screws. Secure the bracket to the with the two 3mm x 6mm screws provided.
