VISION Network Assessment Tool User Guide

Vision Network Assessment Tool - Presentation Ensuring our customers a reliable service is our first priority. ArkadinVision is designed to guarantee they will always be able to virtually meet with their participants no matter their location, device or network. Our Digital Meeting Space will adapt their capabilities based on their infrastructure. To give them an overview we have created a Network Assessment Tool that will check how their own network connectivity will fit with ArkadinVision prerequisites. It can be used in a pre-sale phase by a potential customer without any difficulty (it can also be used to troubleshoot reported issue). This tool is indeed a web plugin that has to be installed on a customer s computer (hence with admin privileges) on their local network. Any web browser can be used. It works with any OS (Windows, Mac, Linux). As a first step, the tool tests if ports are opened from the user to the Vision platform. Depending on previous test result: - If ports are opened, tool will perform a UDP bandwidth test followed by a traceroute between user and Vision platform - If some ports are blocked, tool will perform a TCP bandwidth test followed by a traceroute between user and Vision platform The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. The results are also accessible via a website (more explanation further on).

Accessing the Tool

Vision Network Assessment Tool - URLs To launch the tool, user has to connect to URL corresponding to the Vision platform location (APAC, EMEA, NORAM) he wants to test connection. It is advised to test with the location the user is provisioned or will be provisioned if on a pre-sales qualification. http://networktest-us.anw.li/myspeed/vision.html http://networktest-ap.anw.li/myspeed/vision.html http://networktest-eu.anw.li/myspeed/vision.html

Vision Network Assessment Tool Plugin installation When connecting to the Vision Network Assessment tool for the first time you will first have to install the BCS plugin. If the following error message appears it mean you don t have the plugin installed. To install the plugin click on one of the 3 links on the top left corner of the page (choose the one corresponding to your Operating System), download the plugin installer on your computer, start the plugin installer and follow the installation steps. Once the plugin is installed you ll have to reload the Tool URL in you browser.

Ports Test

Port Test As indicated in the Vision Technical Guide, the user need to check that the ports listed in the table below are opened from his computer to the Vision platform. The port test goal is to check that those ports are opened. It will not test all the ports otherwise test would be too long, but it will test the following ports: TCP/443 : HTTPS TCP/1720 : H.323 TCP/5060 : SIP TCP/5061 : SIPS TCP/33000 : Call Signaling (1 st port of the range) TCP/33999 : Call Signaling (last port of the range) TCP/40000 : Media control (1 st port of the range) TCP/49999 : Media control (last port of the range) UDP/40000 : Media (1 st port of the range) UDP/49999 : Media (last port of the range)

Port Test For tracking purpose, the user is asked to enter the name of his company: Once done the test stars automatically. This test takes around 20 seconds to complete, once done the Summary tab will show the result: You are still able to see more details by clicking on the Firewall tab :

Port Test - SUCCESSFUL If test is successful it means that user is able to access all necessary ports of Vision service, he will benefit from the best experience. To proceed to the second part of the test please click on the link indicating you to continue to the bandwidth test.

Port Test - UNSUCCESSFUL If test is unsuccessful it means that user is not able to access all necessary ports of Vision service, he may not benefit from the best experience. Having some ports blocked is not necessarily a blocking point for using Vision (except if TCP/443 is blocked), but it will reduce the quality of the call (Single Port server will be activated to handle user media traffic). To proceed to the second part of the test please click on the link indicating you to continue to the bandwidth test. If you want the list of ports that are blocked you can use the link at the bottom of the page to have full details

Port Test UNSUCCESSFUL Impacts on connection TCP/443 : HTTPS TCP/1720 : H.323 TCP/5060 : SIP TCP/5061 : SIPS Impossibility to use your web browser to connect to Vision Impossibility to use a H.323 room system or software to connect to Vision Impossibility to use a SIP room system or software to connect to Vision Impossibility to use a SIP room system or software configured with encrypted SIP signaling protocol to connect to Vision Impossibility to use Skype for Business to connect to Vision TCP/33000 : Call Signaling (1 st port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum) TCP/33999 : Call Signaling (last port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum) TCP/40000 : Media control (1 st port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum) TCP/49999 : Media control (last port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum) UDP/40000 : Media (1 st port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum) UDP/49999 : Media (last port of the range) Connection to Vision is limited to web browser with Single Port activated (quality is not optimum)

User with ports opened

User with ports opened - Presentation If port test is successful it means that the user will be able to use UDP protocol to send media (audio and video) to the Vision platform, this is the best protocol for real-time traffic. The Vision Network Assessment Tool will test different bandwidths from 496 Kbps up to 100 Mbps over UDP and will determine what is the maximum available bandwidth capacity depending on an acceptable packet loss rate of 1% maximum. Bandwidth capacity will be tested both on upload and download and may take up to 5 minutes to complete. If capacity is below 1 Mbps, it is considered as poor. If between 1 Mbps and 1,6 Mbps, it is considered as acceptable. If above 1,6 Mbps, it is considered as good. WARNING: The bandwidth tested here represents the full UDP bandwidth capacity available between the user s network and the Vision platform. If many users may use the same Internet access, the total bandwidth capacity has to be divided by the expected simultaneous number of calls in order to have an idea of available bandwidth per user.

How to read the results Allows you to review details of bandwidth test Details and comment on each results indicated if what has been measured is compatible with Vision Allows you to review details of trace route test

Generating Report Test results are also available on a specific portal: http://networktest-eu.anw.li/myspeed/admin?tb=tabanalysis (login : report ; password : Q-KJz9hD) Select My Capacity/Web to access the results. If nothing appears, click on Hide/Show hyperlink and modify the time interval (you can also tick MyFirewall, MyRoute and MySpeed to get more details) and click on Generate report.

Generating Report Exemple of report:

User with ports blocked

User with ports blocked - Presentation If port test is unsuccessful it means that Vision will have to activate the Single Port in order to allow connection for the user. TCP protocol will be used, this protocol is not optimum to transport real-time audio and video streams and available bandwidth may be reduced compared to UDP. The Vision Network Assessment Tool will test the TCP maximum speed on upload and download for the user and may take up to 3 minutes to complete. If speed is below 1 Mbps, it is considered as poor. If between 1 Mbps and 1,6 Mbps, it is considered as acceptable. If above 1,6 Mbps, it is considered as good. WARNING: The bandwidth highlighted in this test represents the TCP maximum speed available for a single user. The total TCP bandwidth capacity of the user s network is seen under Capacity Speed.

How to read the results Allows you to review details of bandwidth test Details and comment on each results indicated if what has been measured is compatible with Vision Allows you to review details of trace route test Allows you to review details of round trip time test. RTT should be below 200ms to experience the best quality with Vision

How to read the results The Download maximum Speed for a single user The Download maximum Speed for a single user The Average Round Trip Time (should be below 200ms) The user s network total TCP capacity to be divided by the expected simultaneous number of calls in order to have an idea of maximum available bandwidth per user
