( DIRECTED ) promises to the original purchaser, to repair or replace with a comparable reconditioned piece, the security or remote start accessory piece (hereinafter the Part ), which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under normal use, provided the following conditions are met: the Part was purchased from an authorized DIRECTED dealer; and the Part is returned to DIRECTED, postage prepaid, along with a clear, legible copy of the receipt or bill of sale bearing the following information: consumer s name, address, telephone number, the authorized licensed dealer s name and complete product and Part description. BOOTLOADING If using a Remote/Alarm system with Rev 8B and below, please go to option B Option A: XKLOADER2 (Flashing the CANMAX400DEI while docked) 1 3 First, you have to dock the CANMAX400DEI into the system. Connect USB cable to the Bootloader and plug USB to any available USB port on your PC. Then connect the XKD2D65 wire into the system in which you docked the CANMAX400DEI, and connect the XKD2D65 to bootloader. Cut the lip Remove cover from Responder LE/LC3 module and cut the lip to allow docking of module. Rev 8C and above 2 4 PIN D2D 4 PIN D2D PART# XKD2D65 Jumper position XKLOADER2 USB Connector Page 4 to 10 Jumper Before powering the system, make sure a jumper is placed on the two lower pins and no jumper is placed on the upper pins of the Responder LE/LC3. USB Port Option B: XKLINT and XKLOADER/XKLOADER2 (without docking it) 1 XKLINT 2 Connect the 7 pin from the harness into connector of the CANMAX400DEI dockable CANMAX400 Dockable XKLINT Connection to bootloader Connect USB cable to the Bootloader and plug USB to any available USB port on your PC. Next connect the wire adaptor cable into the Bootloader, connect the 7 pin connector under the CANMAX400DEI module and finally connect Red wire to a 12V power source and Black wire to a ground source. Xpress VIP is a flash utility that can be used to verify and save firmware images onto the Upgradeable Vehicle Interface Kit. - for Xpress VIP s installation guide, go to: http://www.xpressdownload.com/installingvip3.aspx - for instructions about using Xpress VIP, go to: http://www.xpressdownload.com/downloads/vipguide.pdf Jumpers settings Operating Position Default jumper setting on Responder LE/LC3 and operating mode for CANMAX400 & CANMAX400DEI. Flashing Position Jumper setting for flashing the CANMAX400DEI when docked into the Responder LE/LC3.

Installation (overview) Page 5 to 10 Please Note: Failure to proceed in the following order could result in possible vehicle damage. 1 20 PIN Wiring Connect wires to the vehicle according to the installation type. Refer to the vehicle application chart on page 3 for details. 2 Connect to module Connect the harness to the module. 3 Cut the lip Remove cover from Responder LE module and cut the lip to allow docking of module. 4 Dock it Dock the module into Responder LE/LC3. 5 Jumper position Jumper Before powering the system, make sure the jumpers of Responder LE/LC3 are in the horizontal position. 6 Power* Powerup the remote starter module according to its instruction. Once done, the bypass red LED will turn ON. 7 Module programming 8 KEY OFF IGN ON Ready to use* Green LED will turn ON 3 seconds and then turn OFF. *If the module has never been programmed, the LED will come ON red, then change to Green when programmed. If the module is already programmed, the LED will come ON Green 3 sec and shut off. For features & options programming, please go to pages 09-10.

Feature programming Page 9 to 10 To enter feature programming routine - Turn the ignition ON, then OFF. - Within 5 sec, press and HOLD the integrated programming button (IPB).The orange LED turns ON after 3 seconds. Release the IPB. - The green LED starts flashing slowly one time to indicate the feature number is 1. After a short delay, the red LED flashes rapidly one time to indicate the current option of feature 1. It repeats until next action happens. Accessing another feature - Press and release the IPB a number of times to advance from the current feature to the next desired feature. - The green LED flashes slowly the number of times equal to the feature number. After a short delay, the red LED flashes rapidly one time to indicate the current option of the current feature. It repeats until next action happens. Changing feature options - Press the lock or unlock button on OEM transmitter to change the option of the selected feature. - The red LED flashes rapidly the number of times equal to the current option number. After a short delay, the green LED flashes slowly the number of times to indicate the current feature. It repeats until next action happens. When the maximum number of feature or option is reached, the will LED starts flashing again from the first feature or option. Once a feature is programmed - Another feature(s) can be programmed. - The feature programming can be exited. Integrated Programming Button (IPB) Exiting feature programming with saving changes - Turn ignition ON until the Orange LED will turn ON for 2 seconds to indicate correct exit with saving changes. - Press and HOLD the IPB for 3 seconds. After 3 seconds, the Orange LED will turn ON for 2 seconds to indicate correct exit with saving changes. Exiting feature programming without saving changes - No activity for 30 seconds; after 30 seconds, the Red LED will turn ON for 2 seconds to indicate exit without saving changes. Reset Module
