CANVAS BROWSER UPDATES ANNOUNCEMENTS - COMMENTING OPTION IS PERSISTENT When users are allowed to comment in announcements in a course, the Allow Users to Comment option is persistent and displays the same option that was set in the previous announcement. This change assists instructors so they don t have to change the comment option for each announcement they create. This setting is associated with the user context and not the course context. If an instructor changes the comment setting in one course and creates an announcement in another course, the same comment setting will apply. However, if the course has not enabled comments for announcements, the comment option does not display in the announcement and the announcement is locked by default. ASSIGNMENTS - SUBMISSION DETAILS PAGE SIDEBAR TERMINOLOGY UPDATE When a student submits an assignment, the submission details page sidebar displays the assignment status as Submitted. Previously the sidebar displayed the status as Turned In. This change helps align consistency with Canvas terminology.
CANVAS TEACHER UPDATES ANDROID 1.5 - ANNOUNCEMENTS - SECTION-SPECIFIC ANNOUNCEMENTS Announcements supports section-specific announcements. Instructors can send the announcement to all sections, one section, or multiple sections in a course. If you open a section-specific announcement from a notification that you haven t opened previously, the announcement will incorrectly display as sent to all sections. ANDROID 1.5 - FILES - USER FILES The User Menu supports User Files for instructors. In User Files, instructors can view their existing files and folders, create a new folder, and upload new files.
ios 1.6 - RICH CONTENT EDITOR - USER FILE ATTACHMENTS The Rich Content Editor supports attaching files from User Files. To select a file from User Files, tap the Image icon in the Rich Content Editor and select the My Files option. ios 1.6 - SETTINGS - APP CACHE RESET The Teacher app supports resetting the cache when the app is launched. Resetting the cache will clear all information on a device that is specific to the app, including login details, annotated documents, and app settings. Because a cache reset will remove app information from your device, it should only be used if you experience errors that make the app unusable. After enabling the Reset Cache on Next Launch option, users must force close and relaunch the Teacher app for the cache to reset. The Reset Cache on Next Launch option will toggle to the Off position after the app has launched.
CANVAS STUDENT UPDATES ANDROID 6.2 - FILES - FILE QUOTA ERROR MESSAGE The Student app supports an error message for any file upload that exceeds a file quota. ANDROID 6.2 - PAGES REDESIGN Pages has been redesigned for improved usability and accessibility. The Pages Index screen for courses supports a Front Page button.
ANDROID 6.2 - USER MENU - ARC ACCESS The User Menu supports the Arc link. This link is visible to students who have access to Arc media.
