Mounting Options Possible speaker mounting locations include: Possible amplifier mounting locations include: Handlebars Spotlight Mounting Bar Under The Seat Fork Bag Engine Guard/Highway Bars Forks Side Tool Compartment Windshield Bag Luggage Rack Risers Saddlebag Front Down Tubes It s worth taking some time to consider the best location for your UNiQ Cycle Sounds amplified speaker system. While many options are possible, choose one that will look best from both the front and back, give you optimal sound and not interfere with vehicle operation or safety. An ideal location is behind a windshield* on your handlebars using the provided three-piece mounting brackets. Mounting here brings the speakers closer to the rider for optimal sound and appearance. (*Windshield is not required, but will offer a louder sound due to the blocked wind).
5. Installation Instructions Important: Review important installation notes located at the end of this section prior to continuing with installation. Mount the Speaker Clamps Mount the clamps to your handlebars, highway bars or other location and ensure the 4 allen screws on each clamp are securely tightened. The clamps themselves will tighten when the speakers are installed. Mount the Speakers Feed the wire through the clamp and mount each speaker to the clamp (Flat washer and lock washer go on the bottom). Make sure they are tightly and safely secured, but do not over tighten. Run the speaker wires down to where you are going to mount the amplifier, being careful to avoid the engine or any area that could cause heat or other damage to the wire/vehicle or inhibit your driving ability. Amplifier Power Plug Hook Up Find a place where you want to mount the amplifier away from direct exposure to the elements such as a tool compartment, under the seat, fork bag, saddlebag, etc. Most places will be fine, but try to avoid areas that could cause extreme overheating (such as places wrapped in foam or cotton). Take the black (-) ground wire and run it to the negative (-) battery terminal. Take the red (+) positive wire and connect it to positive (+) battery terminal (We suggest installing a 5 amp inline fuse along this wire, however it is not required). Take the orange remote wire and connect it to a switched 12v power source (such as the headlight or taillight wire) OR through a toggle switch then to the battery positive (+). **The orange wire MUST be connected. This is what tells the system to turn on and off. If the orange, black and red wires are not connected, the system will NOT work.
Amplifier to Speaker Hook Up Connect the black wire with white stripe (-) from the left speaker to the green wire from the amp. Connect the black wire without the white stripe (+) from the left speaker to the brown wire from amp. Connect the black wire with white Stripe (-) from the right speaker to the dark blue wire from the amp. Connect the black wire without the white stripe (+) from the right speaker to the orange wire from amp. Amplifier Low Input (For connecting your audio device) If you wish to also use your own audio device, then find the black cable with the 3.5mm earphone jack on one end and the red & white (RCA) plug on the other end. Plug the red and the white ends into the corresponding Low input of the Amplifier. Run the other end of the wire up to your audio device (ipod, MP3 player, satellite, walkman, etc) and plug it into the headphone jack of this device OR plug it directly in to the optional Bluetooth Module and follow its instructions. (Bluetooth may lower volume output). In-line Noise Suppressor (Available Upon Request) Filter is only needed if you hear feedback or humming through your speakers. If this happens, install the noise filter between the amplifier and the battery by connecting the blue wire to the positive (+) battery terminal and the red wire to the red (+) positive wire from the amplifier. Do not connect the black wire. Most applications will not require the installation of this noise suppressor. If you have poor or no sound or receive feedback (even with the noise suppressor), please re-check all wires, including positive and negative connections and confirm that your system is connected to a good ground. Confirm that no wires are stripped and touching metal. If available, also test the system using a different audio device or the built in USB or FM. Load your USB drive w/ MP3 ONLY songs from your computer. If you need assistance with this step, please call and we can help!
6. Important Installation Notes When first listening to your system, you will need to adjust the levels and/or EQ on your audio device for optimal sound output. You will also need to adjust the amplifier gain level. We recommend starting at the lowest settings and slowly turning it up until you reach optimal sound quality. The amp crossover switch should always be at H (more volume, less bass) or Off (more bass, less volume) setting. *Make sure the speakers, amplifier, filters and any wires or other components will not interfere with your steering, gauges, line of sight, or anything else that could affect or inhibit your driving ability or vehicle operation. Make sure that all wires are away from hot areas, and that everything is secured to your vehicle. Make sure your driving ability or vehicle operation will in no way be inhibited by the installation. We are not responsible for systems installed or used incorrectly. SATELLITE RADIO USERS If after installation you receive a whining sound in your motorcycle speakers, call or email us to request a free ground loop isolator. ROAD KING RIDERS Install to extra accessory switch using these instructions: http://www.uniqcyclesounds.com/roadking BLUETOOTH HANDLEBAR CONTROLLER Attach the Bluetooth controller to the handlebars using the included attachment. This will mount easily to any 1-1/4 bar. For a 1 bar, we suggest adding some of the included 3M tape to keep it from moving on the bar. Also be sure the device is snug and secure in the holder. Device is not waterproof and should be move to a dry place if it starts to get wet. See separate controller instructions on how to pair and use the controller. H-D (to 2011) T-TAP INSTALLATION (SOLD SEPERATELY) Under the seat of your Harley-Davidson you will find a place to unplug the harness and connect the T-Tap (inline). Next, connect the orange wire from the amplifier to the orange wire on the T-Tap, connect the black wire to the Black wire on the T-Tap and connect the red wire to the battery positive (+). This will allow the system to turn on/off with the ignition/accessory. (Sportsters are not compatible with these T-Taps)
