What you ll need: A video cassette to digitize AND A blank DVD-R or DVD-RW Disc.
Recording to a disc The VHS player can record to most DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, and the following discs are recommended by the manufacturer: Verbatim DVD-R 8x, DVD-RW 2x JVC Maxwell DVD-RW 4x DVD-R 8x/16x NOTE: This VHS player does not record to CD-RW, CD-R, or DVD+R discs.
Digitizing Copy-protected Material If the VHS player detects copy-protected material, recording will pause or stop automatically and an error message will appear on the screen.
Preparing to record NOTE: When using the remote, point it at the infrared sensory window of the VHS player. 1.) Plug the headphone jack into the 3.5mm extension cable connected to the TV in order to listen to your VHS cassette as it is being recorded.
2.) If the TV is not turned on, press and hold the raised dot below the power symbol of the TV for about one second. A blue light will emit when the TV is powered on. 3.) Press the power button on the front panel of the VCR player. 4.) Insert the VHS cassette into the cassette compartment.
5.) Press the rewind button and wait for the VHS cassette to finish rewinding. 6.) On the VCR player, make sure the light underneath DVD is lit. If it not, press the Source button.
7.) Press the DVD eject button on the VHS player and place your DVD on the tray. Press the button once more to close the tray. Note: When inserting a brand-new DVD-RW, the player will automatically format the disc. If player starts to format your disc, wait for the process to finish. 8.) Press Rec Mode on the remote multiple times to select a recording mode. The selected recording mode will appear on the TV screen with an estimated maximum recording time. NOTE: The audio and video quality gets poorer as the recording time becomes longer. XP (1Hr) SP (2Hr) LP (4Hr) EP (6Hr) SLP (8Hr) Highest Quality Lowest Quality
Setting up auto chapters 9.) Press Setup on the remote. 10.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight General Setting, then press OK. 11.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight Recording, then press OK.
12.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight Auto Chapter, then press OK. 13.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight the desired time interval between chapters, then press OK. 14.) Press Setup to exit.
Recording 15.) Press the Source button on the VHS player so that the light underneath VCR is lit. 16.) Press D.Dubbing on the remote, to begin copying the VHS to DVD. The VHS will play on the TV as it is being recorded.
17.) When the video is finished, press the stop button on the remote. The player will begin writing to the disc. Note: The VHS player will automatically stop recording if playback with no image is detected for more than 3 minutes.
Finalizing the disc NOTE: Finalizing may take several minutes up to an hour. A shorter recording period on the disc will require a longer time period for finalization. 18.) Press Setup on the remote. 19.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight DVD Menu, then press OK.
20.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight Finalize, then press OK. 21.) Use the up or down arrows on the remote to highlight Yes, then press OK.
Playing the DVD 22.) At the Title Menu, press OK on the remote.
Removing Media 23.) Press the eject button on the VHS player to remove your VHS cassette 24.) Press the DVD eject button to remove your DVD.
