Security information 1 Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the secure operation of plants, solutions, machines, equipment and/or networks. They are important components in a holistic industrial security concept. With this in mind, Siemens products and solutions undergo continuous development. Siemens recommends strongly that you regularly check for product updates. For the secure operation of Siemens products and solutions, it is necessary to take suitable preventive action (e.g. cell protection concept) and integrate each component into a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial security concept. Third-party products that may be in use should also be considered. You can find more information about industrial security under: http:// www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity To stay informed about product updates as they occur, sign up for a product-specific newsletter. You can find additional information on this at: http:// support.automation.siemens.com. Operating Manual, 05/2016 V10.2, A5E37098670-AA 5

Overview of "COMOS " 2 2.1 What options does "COMOS " offer? General information The "COMOS " app supports managers, engineers and staff who frequently work outside the office in process plants. Snapshots of a document can be captured with the COMOS app. The COMOS app offers another possibility for making COMOS documents available to other people, for example, integrators. No COMOS access is required for this purpose. Functional The "COMOS " app makes it possible for you to export specific COMOS documents and to save them in a database on your ipad. You can then review the documents offline and mark necessary changes in a simple manner. You can search for keywords in a document and navigate to the individual pages. You can integrate photos you create on your ipad into your document. You can load individual revision steps onto your ipad. Revise your document. You can see an overview of all revision steps of the document in the revision history. You can send the entire document or individual revisions from a document back to COMOS or by email. 2.2 Requirements for working with "COMOS " To use COMOS, you require the following: COMOS version 10.0.2.0.0 or higher Apple operating system ios 7 or higher COMOS runs on the following ipad models: As of ipad 2 ipad Air ipad with retina display ipad mini with retina display ipad mini Operating Manual, 05/2016 V10.2, A5E37098670-AA 7

Overview of "COMOS " 2.3 First steps with "COMOS " Configuration of the Web server and the COMOS app: You can find additional information on this topic in the "Mobile Solutions" manual, keyword "Installation and configuration". Your administrator has set you up as app user. You do not require any specialized knowledge of COMOS. You need to be familiar with the basics of operating an ipad. Note The "COMOS " app is only suitable for one user. However, you can use multiple databases on the ipad and therefore have multiple COMOS logins. 2.3 First steps with "COMOS " 1. Open the "COMOS " app. See also chapter Opening "COMOS " (Page 11). 2. Synchronize the "COMOS " app. See also chapter Synchronizing "COMOS " (Page 13). 3. Manage your documents and revisions. See also chapter Managing documents and revisions (Page 15). 4. Redlining: Edit your revisions. The Redlining function supports you when verifying, marking and editing reports during the revision process. Redlining is also described as evaluating and commenting.
