Page 1 of 5 From: Shorewood Hills <shorewoodhills12370@gmail.com> To: Membership Subject: Date: Wed, Aug 23, 2017 10:15 am Important news and information from Shorewood Hills. Our beach, the sand, and the sun!

Page 2 of 5 Beach activities are more than swimming and boating and sunning and reading! Here two girls practice what they learned from the Sand Pirate at Summerfest, and a group gathers on South Beach for the August 21 eclipse of the sun. Golf carts and Summerfest

Page 3 of 5 Carl and Jennifer Larson and their children, Maggie and Jack, with extended family, designed and fixed the winning entry, this tank from their golf cart, to give tribute to those who served in World War I. Tied for second in the entries of golf carts were the ones design by the Foertsch and Jessogne families. What does an Annual Meeting look like? You try to get to the church hall by 9:30, for these nice Shorewood people have made the best muffins and fruit dishes to go with decent coffee to help all of us enjoy meeting neighbors and hearing what is ahead after summer. Then right at 10:00 our president calls the 120-plus people to order, and we start with a serious moment to remember our members we lost to death this year. Good memories, good reminders. Business agenda follows, with brief reports from the six officers of our association -- they are all accountable to this group. The ten committee chairs give a quick update from their areas, and all these reports are kept as official records.

Page 4 of 5 Questions are welcomed. New business this year includes a vote on constitution amendments (see the printed summary sent to each home -- and all are incidentals to be changed for good reason); and our new budget for September 1, 2017, to August 31, 2018. Then closing remarks and thanks from our president, plus a chance for many to help to take down tables and chairs to help the Harbert Community Church who shares their building this way. From our President The summer season is clearly on the downslope toward autumn even though the weather and water are still warm. Some schools are already back in session, which means fewer people on the roads and beaches. However, Labor Day weekend will see one final surge. Please be respectful of others when on the beach. Please use the meadow for overflow parking so as not to block emergency vehicle access on our narrow streets. Everyone should fully enjoy the end of summer if all practice common courtesy. One more "please." Please come to the Annual Meeting this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Michigan time at Harbert Community Church. Want to know where your annual dues go? Come approve next year's budget. We will also vote on proposed amendments to our by-laws and changes to our building/impact fee schedule. (See our website, shorewood-hills.com, for the details on the proposed amendments. They were also clearly written out in the mailing several weeks ago.) Shorewood works best when all members participate. If you have a viewpoint you'd like to share, this is your best opportunity. Shorewood continues to evolve - new neighbors, new construction, new and improved infrastructure. Your Board of Directors works hard to smooth the occasional rough edges of that evolution, but it can always use your feedback. Shorewood is a wonderful place to live - let's keep it that way! Mike Johnson Our appreciation for local generosity! Shorewood heartily thanks the following for their generous support of our recent Summerfest -- they provided many nice prizes!
