Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 12. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. 2. HEMC Software Features Version 1.0 of the HEMC software installed on your HEMC unit provides the following features: The HEMC supports audio streaming coming from any source. Sources include DVD/Blu-Ray players, Netflix, ChromeCast, AppleTV, and YouTube. Audio synchronization and motion playback: o The HEMC will identify a movie for the first time within 30 seconds. o The HEMC will identify a movie that has been identified at least once within 6 seconds. o The HEMC will resynchronize after a trick play operation (forward, rewind, play/pause) within 6 seconds. The HEMC supports connection to multiple D-BOX motion chairs. The HEMC will automatically upgrade itself when the user inserts a USB key containing an application upgrade package into one of its USB ports. Note: Upon the release of a new version of the HEMC software, the required data to be installed on the USB key will be available on D-BOX s web server. The HEMC will automatically update its motion codes when the user inserts a USB key containing an update package into one of its USB ports. HEMC Setup Il faut metre une image de connexion In order to incorporate the HEMC unit into your home entertainment system, you need to perform the following steps: 1. [Mandatory] Connect an analog audio source from your home theatre system (output) to the HEMC audio in port. An external converter might be required. 2. [Mandatory] Connect your HEMC unit to your KAI-1P devices using USB ports on your HEMC. 3. [Mandatory] Connect your D-BOX motion chair(s) to your KAI-1P devices using RJ45 cables. 4. [Mandatory] Power-up your new HEMC unit.

5. [Optional] Connect your HEMC unit to your Local Area Network (LAN) with a standard Ethernet connection using an Ethernet port on your HEMC. Note: It is suggested to perform the above steps in the order specified, but it is not mandatory. You are now ready to feed audio into your HEMC unit. 3. Network Configuration This section will help you connect your HEMC unit to your home network with a Wi-Fi router. You can connect your HEMC unit to your Wi-Fi router by using the HEMC Control App. You only need to know your Wi-Fi network s SSID and security key. Refer to section 6 to know how to use the HEMC Control App to establish Wi-Fi connection. 4. HEMC Control Application The HEMC Control Application is a Windows/iPad application which is used to interact with your HEMC unit. Version 1.0 of the HEMC Control Application provides the following features separated in four categories: General Automatically discovers the HEMC if a connection is established; Displays the status of the HEMC; Displays the status of the audio source; Displays the status of the motion codes; Displays the overall status of the connected D-BOX motion chairs; Displays the name of the identified movie; Shows the poster image of the identified movie; Shows the current time within the identified movie; For each connected D-BOX motion chair, displays whether it is currently muted or not; For each connected D-BOX motion chair, displays the current motion and vibe values;

Allows the user to mute/unmute the motion for each connected D-BOX motion chair; Allows the user to modify the motion and vibe values (-20 to 0 db) for each connected D-BOX motion chair. Wi-Fi connection wizard Allows the user to establish a Wi-Fi connection to the HEMC. Settings Allows the user to give a name to his HEMC; Allows the user to set a motion delay (-200 to 200 milliseconds) on the connected D-BOX motion chairs, to calibrate motion with sound system; Allows the user to set an audio recognition tolerance (0 to 100 seconds), to continue motion playback even if synchronization with audio is lost. Motion code library Displays the list of all motion codes (movie title, movie duration, and D-BOX motion code release date) currently installed on the HEMC and allows the user to browse within the list; Allows the user to sort the list of movies by title, duration or motion code release date; Allows the user to perform a dynamic search within the list of movies. In the following sections, images of the application that were taken with either the Windows or ios version will be presented. 5. Start-up and splash screen Once the HEMC Control Application has been installed on your PC or ipad, you need to launch it. In order for the HEMC Control Application and the HEMC to communicate, you need to connect your PC or ipad to the same LAN as your HEMC unit. On start-up, the HEMC Control Application will launch a discovery mechanism in order to establish a connection with your HEMC unit. The result of the discovery will be shown on the splash screen as in Figure 1. First, the displayed message will be Looking for HEMC. Then, the message will switch to either HEMC Online or HEMC Unavailable. After a couple of seconds, the application will switch to the main screen.

Figure 1 HEMC Control Application Splash Screen 6. Wi-Fi configuration wizard The configuration wizard allows you to configure a Wi-Fi connection for your HEMC. The steps differ slightly whether the HEMC Control Application runs on Windows or on ios. a. Windows

The Wizard screen can be accessed by using the screen selector located at the bottom of any screens. If there is no communication with the HEMC upon start-up of the HEMC Control App, the Wizard screen is displayed right after the splash screen. You can then perform the following steps: 1. The first panel displays the list of hotspots detected, as shown in Figure 2. Select the hotspot corresponding to your HEMC and click the Connect button. If there is no hotspot detected, the panel will display the message shown in Figure 3. 2. The second panel displays the list of Wi-Fi networks detected by your HEMC, as shown in Figure 4. Select the desired Wi-Fi network, type the security key and click the Connect button. 3. If connection to Wi-Fi failed in step 2, the third panel displays an error message, as shown in Figure 5. You can click the Retry button to retry connecting to the Wi-Fi or click the Reset button to go back to the first panel to connect to the hotspot again. 4. If connection to Wi-Fi was successful in step 2, the third panel displays a success message, as shown in Figure 6. You can click the Ok button to go to the Main screen or click the Reset button to go back to the first panel to connect to the hotspot again.

Figure 6 Connection Wizard Wi-Fi connection successful You can go back to the Wizard screen at any time to modify your HEMC s Wi-Fi connection by clicking on the Wizard item in the screen selector at the bottom of the screen. The panel will display a message as shown in Figure 7.

Figure 7 Connection Wizard HEMC already connected b. ios If there is no communication with the HEMC upon start-up of the HEMC Control App, the Wizard screen is displayed right after the splash screen. You can then perform the following steps: 1. The first panel displays a message telling you to connect your ipad to your HEMC hotspot, as shown in Figure 8. Then, go to your ipad s Wi-Fi settings and connect to that same hotspot. If there is no hotspot detected, the panel will display a message similar to the one shown in Figure 3.

2. The second panel displays the list of Wi-Fi networks detected by your HEMC and a message telling you to select a Wi-Fi network, click Next and then connect your ipad to the selected Wi-Fi, as shown in Figure 9. Select the desired Wi-Fi network, type the security key and click the Next button. Then, go to your ipad s Wi-Fi settings and connect to that same Wi-Fi. 3. If connection to Wi-Fi failed in step 2, the third panel displays an error message similar to the one shown in Figure 5. You can click the Retry button to retry connecting to the Wi-Fi or click the Reset button to go back to the first panel to connect to the hotspot again. 4. If connection to Wi-Fi was successful in step 2, the third panel displays a success message similar to the one shown in Figure 6. You can click the Ok button to go to the Main screen.

Main screen The main screen is divided in four sections from top to bottom: i) Status Panel, ii) Media Info, iii) Seat Manager, and iv) Screen Selector. The Status Panel displays the following statuses:

HEMC status: If the HEMC was found by the HEMC Control Application, the displayed message is HEMC Online and the icon is green. If the HEMC was not found by the HEMC Control Application, the displayed message is HEMC Unavailable and the icon is red. Source status: When there is no audio source, the message is No Source and the icon is grey. When the audio source detection process is in one of many transitory states, the proper message is displayed and the icon turns yellow. When the HEMC has detected an audio source, the message is Source Detected and the icon turns green. When the audio source is lost or there is an error related to the audio source, the proper message is displayed and the icon turns back to red. Motion code status: If the HEMC has not yet identified any movie, the status message is No Motion and the icon is grey. If the HEMC has identified a movie but there is no motion code available, the status message changes to Motion Not Available and the icon turns to yellow. If the HEMC has identified a movie and there is a motion code available, the status message changes to Motion Available and the icon turns to green. Seat readiness: If the HEMC is not connected to a D-BOX motion chair, the status message is No Seat and the icon is grey. If the HTMC is connected to at least one D-BOX motion chair, the status message changes to Seat(s) Ready and the icon turns to green. If at some point in time, all D-BOX motion chairs are disconnected, the status message changes back to No Seat and the icon turns to red. The Media Info section displays the name of the identified movie, its poster image and the time offset within the movie. The Seat Manager section displays, for each connected D-BOX motion chair, the current motion and vibe levels (-20 to 0 db), and whether it is muted or not. By default, the motion value is set to 100 % or 0 db, and the vibe value is set to 75 % or -5 db. When a chair is muted, the chair button on top of the motion and vibe sliders is grey. When it is not muted, the chair button is orange. You can mute and unmute the chair just by clicking the chair button. The motion and vibe you feel should respectively stop and restart instantaneously. You can change the motion or vibe by using the proper slider. You can also change both at the same time by activating the chain icon and use the bigger slider handle. The Screen Selector, which is displayed at the bottom of each screen, allows you to change between the main screen, the settings screen, the motion code library screen, and the configuration wizard screen, by clicking the proper name on the selector. Figure 10 shows a visual representation of the main screen for the situation where the HEMC has successfully identified the movie Pompeii.

Loss of communication If there is a loss of communication between the HEMC and the HEMC Control Application, the HEMC status label displays HEMC Unavailable with a red LED and all items in the screen selector flash with the Wizard item turning to red to indicate that the Wizard might be used to re-establish the communication.

8. Settings Screen The settings screen allows you to view and set different preferences. As shown in Figure 11, you can do the following: Change the name of your HEMC. The default value is set to My- D-BOX. Set a motion delay, between -200 to 200 milliseconds, which will be applied to all connected D-BOX motion chairs. If the specified value is positive, you will feel the motion on your chair(s) after the actual motion. If the specified value is negative, you will feel the motion on your chair(s) before the actual motion. Set an audio recognition tolerance between 0 and 100 seconds. If a recognition failure occurs during the specified delay, the synchronization will be maintained with the proper visuals on the Main screen and the motion will still be felt on your chair(s).

Motion Code Library Screen The motion code library screen displays in a table view the list of all movies for which there is currently a D-BOX motion code available on your HEMC unit. For each movie, the table displays the title, the duration, and the release date of the associated D-BOX motion code. The table allows you to scroll horizontally and vertically. You can sort the movies by title, duration, and release date, just by clicking on the column header. You can also perform a dynamic search into the library by clicking in the search text field on

top of the table and typing the desired name. Figure 12 shows a snapshot of the library screen. Figure 12 HEMC Control Application Library Screen

10. HEMC Control App update Upon the release of a new version of the HEMC Control App, the ipad version will be available on the Apple Store while the Windows version will be available on the HTTP://hemc.d-box.com. You will need to download the Windows installer file from the server and install the application on your desktop or Windows Pro Tablet. 11. Application upgrade and motion code update a. Application upgrade only Upon the release of a new version of the HEMC, you need to download the installation package from the D-BOX Web server and install it on a USB key. Once you plug the USB key in, you should observe the following: 1. An upgrade status message appears at the top right of the main screen. 2. Once the upgrade is done (after about 30 seconds), your chair reinitializes by moving down and then up. 3. The status message should be updated to indicate that the upgrade is over. 4. The new HEMC version is now installed on your HEMC unit. b. Motion code update only Upon the release of a new motion code package, you need to download the package from the D-BOX Web server and install it on a USB key. Once you plug the USB key in, you should observe the following: 1. An update status message appears at the top right of the main screen. 2. Once the update is done (time will depend on the number of files included in the package), your chair reinitializes by moving down and then up. 3. The status message should be updated to indicate that the update is over.

4. The new motion codes are now installed on your HEMC unit. 5. In the HEMC Control App library screen, sort by release date. 6. You should see the new movies. c.
