Faculty & Staff s Sense of the Effects of Reduced Weeknights I doubt personally that it has had much impact - except on students who may not have had the luxury of scheduling a future consultation because they have waited until the LAST MINUTE to get research help that evening before the assignment is due. I'll be interested to hear what the info desk students reveal though because this is purely a gut reaction of mine, and is not based on fact. The impact has been negligible. I don't think they know when they are receiving incorrect information. If the student assistants are trying to answer complex questions our users may be satisfied with incomplete or incorrect information. I don't think it has had any negative impact at all. We might be missing out on individuals who have put things off to the last minute, but I am not sure if being available for those individuals is worth the cost. no real impact
Faculty & Staff s Sense of the Effects of Reduced Weekend I don't understand why we work weekends (faculty), except on a "by appointment" basis. The amount of questions we get is so minimal that it seems like our time could be better used elsewhere. The impact has been negligible. There are many users who cannot visit the library during regular business hours. If we limit our librarian night and weekend hours we would take away a valuable service to those users. It wouldn't matter to anyone except the lone grad student from UK's LIS program who came in on the weekend b/c they work and that was the only time they could come. If we don't have librarians available on the weekend (which I don't think we need) then we need to at least make that known on our hours webpage or some other place on our webpage. Same as above... We might be missing out on individuals who have put things off to the last minute, but I am not sure if being available for those individuals is worth the cost. no real impact
