ProjectWise 2018+ Design File Documentation PTP Project Set-Up Multiple Work Units will be grouped into a single PTP Capital Works Program Project. During project creation, work units will be combined based on location. One project may include work units on different streets. The project grouping can be adjusted to suit the needs of the leader and the design team. Each PTP Capital Works Program Project will have a project in ProjectWise. A ProjectWise project is a folder that has attribution. The attribution of the ProjectWise projects will be pulled from the PTP database, and will be read-only in the ProjectWise interface. Sample PTP Project Code: PTP Number: MULTI-ECS---18-00001 The last eight digits of the PTP Capital Works Program Project code. For the sample project code, the PTP number is 18-00001 Letter Codes MicroStation filenames will contain the letter codes own below: Letter Code SHEETS TTC RD WM SAN STM MAP PSVY PSVY2D PSVYEL PSVYSU_3D PSVYSU_D File Description Project Master Sheets TTC Design Road Design Watermain Design Sanitary Sewer Design Storm Sewer Design Mapping Preliminary Survey 3D Alignment File Digital Terrain Model Preliminary Survey 2D Preliminary Survey Elevation SUE "B" Level Drawing SUE "D" Level Drawing
Filename Syntax Design MicroStation filenames will have the following format: <PTP Number> + "_" + <Letter Code>.dgn Where multiple files are required that would have the same name, the first file will be appended with "_1" and additional files will be appended with "_" + sequential number without leading zeros. Design InRoads filenames will have the following format: <PTP Number> + file extension Survey filenames will have the following format <PTP Number> + "_" + <Letter Code>.dgn Use of Models Models will be used for the design, profile, ading, drainage areas, etc., within the single design file for each discipline. A standard set of models will be provided in the initial seed files, as own below. Additional models can be created as needed. D&C-LI CADD Specification Manual, version 1.3 contains tables 12-16, on pages 30-33, which outline the suffixes for filenaming in TIMS. In ProjectWise, these tables will be used as a reference for how to name the models within the design files. File Creation The following files will be created for each project during initiation, depending on the work units in the project. A version will be made of the MAP file during the load, to retain the original data. 18-00001_SHEETS.dgn 18-00001_TTC.dgn 18-00001_RD.dgn 18-00001_WM.dgn 18-00001_SAN.dgn 18-00001_STM.dgn 18-00001.alg 18-00001.dtm 18-00001.ird 18-00001.itl 18-00001.rwk 18-00001_MAP.dgn
Each design file will have a seed file with a standard set of initial models, as indicated in the tables below. InRoads working data can be stored in the design files. Multi-discipline projects will have duplicate models in multiple files, like the pf and models. In this case, one model could be ared throughout the design, and the designers ould use the model that appears first in the table below. Any unused models ould be deleted from the design files. File TTC RD WM SAN STM Initial Models row (default) pf eupl inr2d pd (default) pf pvm inr2d wat (default) watpf san (default) sanpf sanda stm (default) stmpf stmda File MAP Initial Models Default KEY PSL TOP UGS SVY SUE Survey Files Survey files will be loaded into the project CADD folder, and the survey staff will set the document state to 'Final', which will prevent ECS CADD users from editing the file. 18-00001_PSVY.dgn 18-00001_PSVY2D.dgn 18-00001_PSVYEL.dgn 18-00001_PSVY.alg 18-00001_PSVY.dtm The design team will merge content from the survey files into the design MAP file for editing.
Project Master Sheets One file will be placed in each project for the master eets. Sheets will be designed in separate models within that file. Project drawings will be numbered sequentially, combining work units in one number range, from 1 to n, as a three digit number with leading zeros. Model names ould match the drawing numbers. For example, a project that contains: road design - 4 eets watermain design - 3 eets storm sewer design - 1 eet will have drawing numbers 18-00001-001 18-00001-002 18-00001-003 18-00001-004 18-00001-005 18-00001-006 18-00001-007 18-00001-008 Pavement Marking and Traffic Signal Drawings Transportation Services will assign their own drawing numbers, and ECS will use those drawing numbers in our tender. ECS will require a hard copy, and a pdf of these drawings. Miscellaneous Drawings Additional drawings needed to circulate to approval agencies or other purposes will also be created in the STEETS file. These will be given drawing numbers in the following format: <PTP Number> + "-M" + two digit number with a leading zero Example: 18-00001-M01 18-00001-M02 18-00001-M03 Consultant Drawings Consultants will follow the same naming convention as internal design. For internal projects where consultants are submitting drawings in addition to our internal design, each consultant will be given a number to use in the hundreds column to use for drawing numbers. For example: Consultant 1 will start at 18-00001-101 Consultant 2 will start at 18-00001-201 Traffic signal drawing numbers will remain the same as they are received.
Contract Master Sheets One dgn file will be placed in one of the related MASTER folders, which will have models for the cover eet, general notes, and other general / contract level eets. The filename will be: <contract number>.dgn Example: 18ECS-TI-01SP.dgn Drawing numbers for the cover eet and general notes will be: <contract number> + "_G" + sequential number from 1 with no leading zeros. Example: 18ECS-TI-01SP_G1 Program Changes Whole Project Change When a full project is deferred, advanced, cancelled, deleted, put on hold, or pued out to the 10-year program, the PTP basic information is updated. ProjectWise will display the new status and/or work years. There will be no change to ProjectWise filenames, location, or document attributes. Partial Deferral / Advancement When only some work units from a project are deferred or advanced, they will be removed from the PTP project and added to another PTP project. The associated design files will be moved from the ProjectWise project into the new project, and renamed with the new PTP Number. Partial Cancellation Deletion, On-Hold or 10-Year Programming When only some work units are changed to 'cancelled', 'deleted', 'on-hold', or '10-year delivery', they will be removed from the PTP project and will remain unattached in PTP. In ProjectWise, the associated design files will have their document status changed. The filenames will remain the same. The SHEETS file will be maintained by the design team. Files from External Sources Files provided from external sources, like the TTC, and utility companies will be loaded to ProjectWise by design staff. Files can be renamed as the design staff choses.
