Introduction This guide describes the installation, configuration and usage of QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool (QCS DCT). Audience This manual is intended for anyone installing and using the QCS DCT for capturing the Diagnostic information related to QCS. About This Manual This manual contains 4 chapters; Chapter 1: Overview of QCS DCT provides the information on QCS DCT and its usage. Chapter 2: QCS DCT Configuration provides installation details and its configuration procedure to capture the diagnostic information. Boldface Special Type Italics Boldface Lowercase Type Press [ENTER] or [RETURN] [CTRL] [KEY-1]-KEY-2 Click Double-click Boldface characters in this special type indicate your input. Characters in this special type that are not boldfaced indicate system prompts, responses, messages, or characters that appear on displays, keypads, or as menu selections. In a command line or error message, words and numbers shown in italics represent filenames, words, or numbers that can vary; for example, filename represents any filename. In text, words shown in italics are manual titles, key terms, notes, cautions, or warnings. Boldface characters in this special type indicate button names, button menus, fields on a display, parameters, or commands that must be entered exactly as they appear. In an error message, words in lowercase are filenames or words that can vary. In a command line, words in lowercase indicate variable input. Type means to type the text on a keypad or keyboard. Press means to press a key or a button. [ENTER] is the key you press to enter characters or commands into the system, or to accept a default option. Click means to position the mouse pointer on an item, then quickly depress and release the mouse button. This action highlights or selects, the item clicked. Introduction Conventions Drag X Press X Drag X means to move the mouse pointer to X, then press the mouse button and hold it down, while keeping the button down, move the mouse pointer. Press X means to move the mouse pointer to the X button, then press the mouse button and hold it down. The attention icon appears beside a note box containing information that is important. The caution icon appears beside a note box containing information that cautions you about potential equipment or material damage. 1. Overview of QCS DCT QCS DCT captures the QCS Diagnostic information for analysis of the issues which are reported on QCS nodes. The output of QCS DCT is a zip file which can be sent to TAC or Development Engineering (DE) for analysis. QCS DCT tool is a standard feature available in Experion MX R700 release. This tool runs on the nodes where the diagnostic information needs to be captured. P/N 6510020604 Rev 00 4/10/17 1-1
2. QCS DCT Configuration QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool can be run when RAE is running or in shutdown status. Follow the below procedural steps to configure the QCS DCT: 1. Select Start > Experion MX Engineering Tools > QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool The QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool dialog box appears. 2. Enter the Scanner IP address if it s not updated from hosts file automatically. P/N 6510020604 Rev 00 4/10/17 2-1
QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool QCS DCT Configuration NOTE: QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool Supports Q4000-80, CWS 4080, 4036 Metals C Frame scanners, and it collects edaq.log, mss.log and fc.log. 3. Select the Include crash dumps check box under Crash Dump if you want to collect the crash dumps. 4. To include any additional files or folders apart from the Pre configured diagnostic information, click Add NOTE: Refer to the attached worksheet for the list of diagnostic information captured by QCSDCT by default. The Select Files or Folders dialog box appears. 5. Select the Files or Folders and click OK. 6. Click Start. The following Information message box appears 2-2 4/10/17 P/N 6510020604 Rev 00
QCS Diagnostic Capture Tool QCS DCT Configuration 7. Click Yes. The Save zip File dialog box appears. 8. Select the Output Directory path to save the QCS Diagnostic information zip file. Modify the default File name if needed and click Save. NOTE: QCS Diagnostic information zip file can be saved in shared remote location in the local network. Diagnostic information capture will start and progress is indicated on the Status Bar. Once Diagnostic information capture is completed, the following Information message box appears. 9. Click OK.
